What made TellTale's TWD so impactful for me is how it shows how cruel the world is without making a spectacle of it like the AMC show did. Even when they ended Lee's story, it felt grounded and like a genuine moment where a surrogate father and daughter had to say goodbye for the final time.
It should've been noted at the beginning that TellTale's seasons take place in the Comic universe of TWD. Though it's never talked about what Glenn did before he got to Atlanta in the show, so it's possible that the walkie talkie both versions of Glenn used to save Ricks life and start the world (as we know it) of The Walking Dead were given to him by a Clementine. It's possible she, and thus Lee and everyone else, _could_ exist in the show universe even if its never shown

This series fundamentally changed me as a person and how I viewed people and the world as I grew up, and to this day it’s probably the most emotional game I’ve ever played. Lee’s journey as a person and his relationship with Clem makes him my favorite video game protagonist. What stands out to me is that you can tailor how Lee reacts to certain situations and his relationships with others, but there are core things about his character that doesn’t change. Some people might chalk this up to your “choices not mattering”, and while I understand that for some story beats, I don’t agree with it for Lee. You can make Lee an angel straight from heaven or the biggest asshole on Earth, but it doesn’t change the fact that Lee at his core always does what he believes is right. It’s that kind of nuance that makes him feel like a real person rather than a character.
Fun fact about vernon if you played the 400 days dlc we find out that vernon after taking the boat left his group behind and abandoned them proving he was a scumbag all along and only cared for himself and that lead to his group falling apart as we see his group isn't doing so well in the dlc so my question is if he did take Clem would he abandon her like he did his group

This is the only game I’ve ever played where from start to finish I was completely obsessed w the story, even after finishing all 4 seasons all I wanted to do was immediately replay it all over again, best narrative of our generation
After the first playthrough, i never again chop the arm since Lee can than dual wield knives and fight the horde while going to save Clem, which is the most badass moment in this game, and one of many in whole series.

@@galesonic good point! Been a while since I watched. The thing that fucks me up about the Larry choice is if you do CPR with Lilly, you see Larry's face twitching like he's about to come to. The thing that pisses me off most in that situation is Kenny's selfishness to not even try
31:35 fun fact, it was the canibals at the farm who set up the trap, and the reason it was altered is because the bandits that attack the motel kept stealing the food from the traps, it's never mentioned in game but if you watch some cut game scenes on youtube theres a scene with Lee and one of the brothers talking about it

I love how you review this game as if it’s the only in the series and not just the start of a series, the game is completely different when you view it as a stand alone title and not just a entry in a series of games
Ben really deserved better. It just wasn't satisfying to watch him suffer and make mistakes and then just die anyway. It would've been far better if he actually got to make up for his mistakes and become more useful.
I wish he had fessed up to Lee right after the first wave of accusations, confiding in him that he made the deal in the interest of the group and being embarrassed about getting caught alone. It would have really shown the other adults the kid just isnt mature enough for the stuff their putting on him and just maybe the group coulda worked with him on improving.
Because of her father's death I was suspicious of Lily making things up about the stealing back at the motel just so she could wreak havoc. It would've made sense for her to do so in my book, so I didn't buy her accusations that anyone with us would do that. But with Ben's sorry ass, boy was I wrong. I keep receipts, he's on Larry's level. Remember he ran on Clementine when walkers cornered him with her?
Ben is still a kid however, when you teach your kid, especially your little boy right from wrong when they are young and you give them an understanding, they grow up to be a person with a strong, moral conscience, strong ethical beliefs, and would never do the things that Ben and many other people in this world have done- It just requires people to be raised right, and people that are not raised right, well, we’re looking at the results of that every day and I wish that was not the case… It takes a very strong parent that truly knows right from wrong, and that loves their child with all their heart to try and raise them right to where they will be a good person! Emotional and weak people got into places of influence and power, and eventually something that is needed, was made to look like something entirely different ?!?! Look at where we are at now and compare the times, and the people in the times of today to 30 years ago, 40 years ago, 50 years ago and beyond, and it is no comparison-
One of the best things about season 1 is that none of the deaths/losses felt cheap. They all had buildup and felt like they were part of the natural progression of the story. When someone died, it felt purposeful and you didn't question why it happened.
The reason Doug was chosen so much was because it was revealed that Doug was modeled after a telltale employee or something like that and there was a huge movement to save Doug
I LOVE watching your uploads! I may speak for everyone else too and this isn’t uncommon for you, but I love the fact I get to enjoy full games I played as a child with only 1-2 hours of hearing someone else’s perspective without having to sink dozens of hours in myself. TYSM for what you do for ya gamers at heart!
One of my favorite things about replaying this game was finding out which QTEs you can fail yet still keep the story going. My personal favorites are in the final chapter. In Lee's final trek to save Clem by going through the horde, you're able to fail a few QTEs that honestly feels more dramatic. Lee gets bitten even more but since he's already turning, he just shrugs off the damage and keeps on going. And in the struggle against the stranger, if you fail the QTE to strangle him, he'll turn around and strangle Lee to near death, but before Lee passes out, Clem will shoot the stranger in the head to save Lee. Definitely more dramatic to me. I loved the missable things, though few they are.
I remember playing this for the first time in my iPad back in 2013, still one of the greatest gaming experiences I’ve ever had, feel like this is one of those games I’ll always come back to
If I remember right I think in the main show, after they finish up at the CDC, they say the virus is airborne and that's how everyone got infected. I might be wrong tho
if im correct, the officer didn't drag himself out, he was actually attacked by the walkers and killed by them and the evidence of this is when Lee was extremely dazed after the crash, there's a muffled audio of someone screaming and gunshots along with walker groans
Another thing you missed in episode 2: While searching for a way to get the door open while Andy is distracted, you're able to find a wheelbarrow filled with hay and also random items of clothing. I only found this on my second playthrough!
Dude I recently found your channel and binged your Manhunt, GTA V, and LA Noire videos And i also recently tried getting my girlfriend interested in the Walking Dead game
Season 1 had an atmosphere to it that was completely removed from season 2 onwards. After intense events, there would be areas where you could explore, take a breath, get to know characters, and even solve some puzzles. I remember every character from season 1 very well, after all these years. Can't say the same about the later seasons. Things were constantly moving from action scene to action scene, never reaching the kind of depth to which you would know the characters in season one. And since there isn't much gameplay to talk about, that shit is really important as it turns out, that's why season 1 is the best.
The walking dead game series was definitely something else the impact they had on people emotionally and mentally was insane. I cried when i had to put lee to rest and leave kenny for aj's safety 😭

Also if you don't shoot duck or say nothing to Kenny when you have Kenny kill Duck, they won't kill him, leaving him to become reanimated.
I’ve been marathoning the entire Telltale series recently, great timing with this upload chief
i still think about this game and characters, glad to know i’m not the only one obsessed and forever touched.
I will never forget that one episode in season 2 with Clem after the dog. That was just…horrifying. Not very many things in games can inflict that much pain in me but holy… she’s such a well written character
So happy to see you making this video!!❤ I love The Walking Dead game series. Please consider covering the next seasons
THE MUSIC IN THE BEGINNING
Flooded me with memories about this game🥲
We need season 2 now loved your vid from start to end keep it up
The show did say it was airborne and that’s how everyone was infected I believe, I’m sure it’s mentioned in the CDC in season 1
I believe the guy said he believed it was airborne but he had no idea if it was a virus, biochemical, or parasitic
@@galesonic good point! Been a while since I watched. Either way it’s never technically confirmed as I think I remember hearing an interview with Robert Kirkman where he said he disliked the CDC episode as it was giving too much info on the virus itself which was something he never wanted to touch on.
also, spin-offs didn't explain the origin of the virus, just that the french were behind some of the variants wether by accident or not
In the show it's revealed the virus started in France
The thing that fucks me up about the Larry choice is if you do CPR with Lilly, you see Larry's face twitching like he's about to come to. The thing that pisses me off most in that situation is Kenny's selfishness to not even try
31:35 fun fact, it was the canibals at the farm who set up the trap, and the reason it was altered is because the bandits that attack the motel kept stealing the food from the traps, it's never mentioned in game but if you watch some cut game scenes on youtube theres a scene with Lee and one of the brothers talking about it
Definitely my most anticipated video from you man, keep up the good work!
Never played this game but maaan. That ending brought me to tears. Poor Clem! 💔
I can't wait to see you cover seasons 2 and 3 and Sleeping Dogs next month!
first timers had to shed some kinda tear i tell you ☠️
This was a fantastic video, I'd love to watch more if you were to cover the next few seasons!
'clementine's suite' is one of those songs that when i hear it i tear up because i think of the emotional strife of season 1
Great video man, so many fond memories I have with this game when I first played it, it’s crazy to think it’s 11 years old now, btw are you gonna play 400 days before season 2?
The remastered comic shading looks SOOOOO good and helps it age so well
Starved For Help is the greatest episode ever told in Telltale’s History imo
This ending was the first game to make me weep like a baby. Watching my brother play it at first was what caused me to to start reading the comics and watching the TV show. Love this game,
This is one of my favorite games of all time this is easily one of the best channels I’ve found
Man im glad you covered this topic, ive been going through my trophies and Tell Tales TwD was the first game I got platinum and got almost all the DLC. 300 days after was awesome
Hey FuzzySlippers, I really enjoy your videos! Your content is always so entertaining and inspiring. It's great to see creators like you on UA-cam. Keep up the great work! 😊
probably the only game whose ending makes me cry like a baby no matter how many times i see it. my kitten was the only survivor of her litter and i bottle fed her from a week old. named her after this series final girl clementine ❤
This story still makes me cry. Not just the end but so many parts pull at your heart its crazy
I love how you review this game as if it’s the only in the series and not just the start of a series, the game is completely different when you view it as a stand alone title and not just a entry in a series of games
Thankyou. Needed this man I was sad.
i just finished replaying first season for the forth time today, and now watching video I still cried at the scene of lee's end. i touches me so much
I played season 1 for the first time recently and loved it
If you keep playing without spoilers it will probably one of the best story’s games played, wish I could re play it for the first time
@@nomick-hz9pe I definitely plan to when I get the chance. I assume it'll keep following Clem, and I'm super excited to see her story goes next
I love watching your videos while I try to sleep, they are so relaxing
Bro. I hope that when i am 37 i will be at least 10% of the man Lee was. What a champ! 🎉
love that shaun getting eaten is a cannon event
*S h a u n n* heavy rain next 👀
Story driven games with weak gameplay were never really my thing
But S1 is undeniably one of the best games I played
What makes lee's death more sadder is that his voice actor actually cried during the recording
Such a good video that I will be rewacthing many times. I do highly suggest playing the second season because I'll love to hear your thoughts about it
Ben really deserved better.
Remember he ran on Clementine when walkers cornered him with her?
that whole motel chapter hit different back then fr, superstore shii beforehand too when we initially meet them
Little known fact. Lee's last exhale breath is actually the voice actor crying in the recording booth 😢
Ben is still a kid however, when you teach your kid, especially your little boy right from wrong when they are young and you give them an understanding, they grow up to be a person with a strong, moral conscience, strong ethical beliefs, and would never do the things that Ben and many other people in this world have done-
It just requires people to be raised right, and people that are not raised right, well, we’re looking at the results of that every day and I wish that was not the case…
It takes a very strong parent that truly knows right from wrong, and that loves their child with all their heart to try and raise them right to where they will be a good person!
Emotional and weak people got into places of influence and power, and eventually something that is needed, was made to look like something entirely different ?!?!
Look at where we are at now and compare the times, and the people in the times of today to 30 years ago, 40 years ago, 50 years ago and beyond, and it is no comparison-
Used to watch the TV Show with my dad every week when a new episode aired, good times!
Good video too. Never finished this game myself
One of the best things about season 1 is that none of the deaths/losses felt cheap. They all had buildup and felt like they were part of the natural progression of the story. When someone died, it felt purposeful and you didn't question why it happened.
Great video as usual. Do another for season 2!
One of my fav games of all time. Wish the other seasons lived up to it:/
The reason Doug was chosen so much was because it was revealed that Doug was modeled after a telltale employee or something like that and there was a huge movement to save Doug
I loved the telltale walking dead games easily in my top 5 favourite games of all time
Fun fact. When facing the second brother in episide two, you can not punch him and hell kick you off. You end up pushing him into the fence
I LOVE watching your uploads! I may speak for everyone else too and this isn’t uncommon for you, but I love the fact I get to enjoy full games I played as a child with only 1-2 hours of hearing someone else’s perspective without having to sink dozens of hours in myself. TYSM for what you do for ya gamers at heart!
ending shii still makes a nigga tear up, no matter how many times ive watched it all play out and i obviously know what happens
You & I FuzzySlippers have the same introduction to the game. Gave it a try when we absolutely could've easily overlooked it.
I genuinely enjoyed this. You MUST do the whole series!
I needed this rn
if im correct, the officer didn't drag himself out, he was actually attacked by the walkers and killed by them and the evidence of this is when Lee was extremely dazed after the crash, there's a muffled audio of someone screaming and gunshots along with walker groans
Another thing you missed in episode 2: While searching for a way to get the door open while Andy is distracted, you're able to find a wheelbarrow filled with hay and also random items of clothing. I only found this on my second playthrough!
Dude I recently found your channel and binged your Manhunt, GTA V, and LA Noire videos
And i also recently tried getting my girlfriend interested in the Walking Dead game
The Yakuza substory theme at the end is a nice touch. Great video!
This was a great vid hope you cover the rest of the seasons 🙏❤️
Great video, I can tell lots of effort was put into this, this video is a great type of “retrospective”, keep going man
The walking dead game series was definitely something else the impact they had on people emotionally and mentally was insane. I cried when i had to put lee to rest and leave kenny for aj's safety 😭
Good stuff. Hope you continue with the series
