We use to sing this in school. I guess I'm telling my age. Those were the days before God was kicked out of public schools. I'm going to introduce this song to my kids at church. I know its a hymn and may not be their speed, but I just want them to be aware of how important Thanksgiving use to be. We as a people and country have forgotten that. To God be The Glory, Amen!
Amen to that! We sang this hymn at the chapel I attended at the now closed Norton AFB in San Bernardino,C.A. every Sunday before the Thanksgiving holiday along with many other Thanksgiving hymns such as "For The Beauty Of The Earth," "Now Thank We All Our God," and "Give Thanks With a Grateful Heart." Yes indeed, those were the days when the Thanksgiving holiday was a lot more observed back then. I am 52 and proud of it!
Yes , indeed , Amen ! , for those old Thanksgiving songs that glorified the Lord God and thanked him . I heard this hymn in church growing up . All praise to God our faithful creator . And his only begotten Son , The Lord Jesus Christ , who died for our sins and rose again the third day , according to the scriptures , the Holy Bible .
We are singing this beautiful song every year for Thanksgiving. All the family tunes in. It puts us in the right spirit for being grateful for food, for our roof and our health insurance.
I recall singing this at my Brooklyn elementary school in third grade, circa 1957. We cut out maple leaves and pumpkins from crepe paper and taped them to the classroom windows. Went to my first Macy's parade that year. Pity it ain't played more outta church. Very humbling lyrics, fuhgeddaboudit.
We are a spiritualist church and we plan to use this song this Sunday to celebrate coming together it's been almost 3 months and we are so glad to be able to return to church and gather together in worship.
🙌🏽“& whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” Colossians 3:17♥️

There is a wonderful timelessness about the great hymns that connects us with the believers of the past. We are all one in Him!
