Hello. I watched your video and although I am from Germany with only basic English knowledge I liked your tutorial about NX Studio very much. Thank you for this helpful and great video. Well done!
Thank you, even with the latest update to NX Studio, it's still slow. But I don't think that Nikon's worried about this, as they were just wanting to give their supporters a Free Editing Program.
Enjoyable and informative as always. I usually have to add some clarity and sharpening also. But that's because my current equipment is very old. ;) My current software combo is Nikon ViewNX-i for reviewing my RAW files and Affinity Photo for editing. Some of the software I previously used include Capture NX-D, Gimp, Lightroom and Photoshop to name a few.
I just enjoy this guy, and his approach to cameras, Photography, and his down to Earth style, and presentation. Another good video Charles! Glad to be a recent Subscriber! Is that a D500 and the 200-500 lens on your desk? Just curious 🤔😃 Stay safe and Healthy 👍👍👍👍✌🏻😃📷
Thank you for your comments, they are very much appreciated, and you've described me to a T. Yes that is a Nikon D500 and the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 lens. This is the gear that I use to take Wildlife Photos.
I'm a bit late to the party and you've maybe covered it since but you really should try the Control Points in lieu of grad filters and brushes. Another lesson to cover?
NX need s few tweaks, but overall, it's perfect for Nikon RAW files. Would like to know if you downloaded the image from the camera or did you download the file onto the computer and then import from the computer. Excellent. Need more NX tutorials.
Charles, thanks for putting this together. Have you encountered any performance issues while working on raw photos? My computer is pretty decent, but still I'm frequently struggling with performance issues :(
Yes, NX Studio is sluggish, even on my PC. It's a know fact. But when you think that this software is free and pretty good at editing photos, I accept this. Nikon does know of this issue but for now isn't doing anything about it.
Not that I know of! Active D-lighting tried to balance the dark shadows with the bright highlights to give you a more correctly exposed image. Works with JPG, and doesn't affect the RAW file
@@intercoolerintercooler4406 That is incorrect, a TIF file is much bigger. A JPG life at 2048px in length is 1.2mb, at TIF file the same size is 8mb in size.
The more I use NX Studio the more I love it.
Thank you, it's a good program for basic editing.
Excellent exposure to the Nikon NX Studio. Please keep elaborating more on NX... 👍👍👍
Thanks, will do!
Well done, as always. Keep these NX Studio tutorials coming. I think the program is a hidden gem, not known by most Nikon owners.
Thanks, will do! and I plan to do more of these tutorials in the future.
Exactly... Iam a nikon user came to know from charles about nikon nx...

Great to hear!
Finally someone who dares to say that NX Studio is slow.
But in terms of rendering, it beats all the majors like Lightroom and Capture One !

Great video! Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!, and thank you for commenting🙏

Hi Charles, loved the video, I was wondering if there's any setting to get rid of the hot pixels in NX Studio. Thanks.
Not that I know of

Maybe, 🤔

Yes, NX Studio is good, but like you say it needs a few tweaks. I download all my files to my PC first and transfer the files through the SD Card.
@@CharlesNPhotography Thank you.

Fired up NX Studio today. Found the delays to be quite annoying. Hope Nikon upgrades soon.
Yes, the lag is a bit annoying Dennis
Can you talk about histogram, in your Wallaby image highlights appear blown in the histogram, I can find nothing on this for Studio?
Thank you, I'll see if I can do a video on the histogram in NX Studio soon
Does active d-lighting add noise? Great series by the way.
Not that I know of! Active D-lighting tried to balance the dark shadows with the bright highlights to give you a more correctly exposed image. Works with JPG, and doesn't affect the RAW file
could you please do a video on editing video footage
I'll see what I can do
i like the lens you have in this camera can you tell me the name of them im interested
I use the AF-S NIKKOR 200-500MM F/5.6E ED VR, or commonly referred to as the Nikon 200-500mm f5.6 lens
The noise adjustments for Z cameras in NX-Studio are different but nobody discuss/explain that.
Okay, didn't realise that
Do you export to TIFF or JPEG?
I export my photos as JPG and if it's to share on Facebook, then I export the photo at 2048 pixels on the longest edge. 👌
@@CharlesNPhotography I read TIFF contains much more information and the file size says the same.
@@intercoolerintercooler4406 That is incorrect, a TIF file is much bigger. A JPG life at 2048px in length is 1.2mb, at TIF file the same size is 8mb in size.
@@CharlesNPhotography Yea. That's what I said the TIFF > JPEG in size
How is this different to Capture NDX?
NX Studio is 10x better and allows you to do more editing
@@CharlesNPhotography Wow, will download it. Thanks.
Yes it is very valuable. Thanks
Glad you think so!
Super, Wenn das nur auf Deutsch wäre.
Thank you very much 🙏
