I love CRs "I would just work from home..." in the shelter idea... in 96' in blue collar Oklahoma LMAO!
"Like a boxer getting out of prison, he's a young 30" is a phenomenal quote
Mike Tyson
As a lifelong resident of Tornado Alley (Kansas), can confirm, no one goes to shelter no matter how early the warning is. We all wait until the last possible second and can see it with our own eyes. Can’t count how many times I’ve been told to go to my basement for shelter but can count on one hand how many times I’ve actually went.
Bill you win the "It's probably on Tubi" award for TRESPASS, It is and I'll be watching it tonight. 👏🏾 Tubi is 90% if I'm at Alamo drafthouse watching trailers for obscure films their almost always on Tubi.
Just re-watched Twister last week in advance of the new one, and one thing that really stuck in my craw… once a tornado is done terrorizing our leads it just disappears. Every single one toys with them then leaves.
That’s kind of how tornadoes are though. They fuck up an area and then either dissipate or just move on.
CR not knowing Shirley McClaine is Warren Beatty's sister would have Fennessy going insane
I love how bill took 5 minutes to loop back around to what we already knew about Bill Paxton being mor of a supporting player than the lead
“He’s like in Inherent the Wind all of a sudden.” 😂
1) how are you not gonna acknowledge the ICONIC twisters ride it out special effects ride at universal studios?! i was sooooo sad when it closed
2) the apex mountain of tornados is still the wizard of oz, as evidenced by the fact that the thing is named dorothy
This was fantastic. Thank you so much for having this discussion.
Right after Chris says k hive, an ad pops up with her 😂
This trio is undefeated
“That’s white excellence right there” is an all timer
the guys in the hats seem pretty dorky... but simmons is good.
Maybe for the low iq listeners. Van is so boorish. And Chris and bill have to dumb themselves down around him.
Todd Field: Good actor. Great director. And..... *checks wikipedia*.... invented Big League Chew while being the bat boy for a baseball team that Kurt Russel played for?!?!?! WHAT?
OF COURSE bill recognized PSH's potential in twister
😂😂 I thought the same thing, there is no fucking way
Simmons talking about how wild it is to have 5 tornadoes in one day in the same area. Welcome to the Midwest pal!
New category: The “Bill Thinks Bill Paxton could’ve replaced George Clooney in Out of Sight Hottest Take Award.”
Twister holds up really well. Great cast, great effects, soundtrack is good, shot beautifully. Its obviously not a serious documentary style storm chasers thing but its a fun ride
Can't go wrong with Bill Paxton. Sadly gone to young!
The end credits and music is amazing
I have been waiting for this forever. My favorite movie of all time.
Bill doing a pod after the Celtics won a ship is just brutal. Bro brought them up like every 10 minutes 😂
Trespass is indeed on Tubi! Bill hit the nail on the head 😂😂😂
The dad at the beginning is in varsity blues, ready to rumble, etc
Tin Cup, Natural Born Killers, and Speed too. All 3 movies that should’ve been done by the rewatchables at this point. This podcast could be so much better than it already is. Bill gets way too far up his own ass. He’s a good podcaster. But he makes plenty of bad decisions. For instance: Van Lathan is unbearable.
When I was in school, my meteorology teacher showed this in class just to prove how unrealistic it was. Hard to watch it now and not nit pick how a tornado can pick up a cow and a semi truck but a dodge ram is just fine. Still love Paxton and Helen Hunt is a childhood crush of mine. It's "The Suck Zone"... These guys are right, it's the comradery that makes takes this movie to the next level.
wizard of oz not in the running for apex mountain of tornadoes?
Are you 90 or a fruity pie? No one else considers it.
27:12 I've rewatched Van's laugh at least 10x now, one of the weirdest fake laughs I've ever seen lmao
Lots of forced laughter in this episode.
It looks like they added Warp Stabilizer to just his mouth.
Bill Paxton seemed like the kind of guy that you might see at the grocery store on a Saturday afternoon and he wouldn't be surrounded by a phalanx of PR people. You might recognize him and say hello to him and he would actually have a chat with you.
One of my favorites and definitely gone way too soon.
The white pen that Van is holding makes it look like he's smoking a cig haha.
1:11:11 another Kubrick cinnection is Todd Field went on to play Nick Nightingale in Eyes Wide Shut.
The first thing my girlfriend ever saw Phillip Seymour Hoffman in was Mission Impossible 3. From there on out anytime she sees him in a movie she asks me "Is that the scary guy from Mission Impossible?"
Trespass is on Vudu. Also Van is the new Sean and it’s BRUTAL.
Hey, 🇨🇦 here. Chris' beloved Oilers experienced the deadliest tornado in Canadian history. We're in the season now and all of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and parts of Ontario will have several warnings and a few confirmed tornadoes each summer. I live in Calgary and we've had a couple watches so far. Costner's band was impacted by one that hit a music festival on central Alberta. If memory serves they were on stage when the warning hit.
20:23 Bill was patient in his get back lol
This was my first movie I watched in 5.1 home stereo and it blew my mind.
I saw Twister at a drive-in theatre, and the drive-in scene was badass.
PSH won this movie, and I still use "FOOD??" all the time.
"Fujita scale has aged well" bruh, it literally had to be updated. Fujita scale is determined by the amount of damage it does.
Save it for the winter but would love to see a rewatchables on spotlight, just saw it again and rewatched it another time immediately this week
47:00...glad this was brought up since I've honestly felt sorry for this character for decades LOL
"Maybe we should do what he says, he'd never put us in harm's way." "When I want your opinion, I'll give it to you!"
What's the over/under on Van saying, "Honestly/To Be Honest", "LITERALLY" & "the whole nine"? Love the pod!
1/1000th as many times chris ryan says like
Fair.
Simmons saying Paxton could've played Clooney's role in Out of Sight is an *INFINITY* x hotter take than Luke Wilson/Indiana Jones. That is legitimately bonkers.
He also says "asteroids are an invasion, right?" later in the podcast. Hide your kids hide your wife the asteroids are coming to take over the planet.
Todd Field also gave an incredible performance in "Walking and Talking".
Nobody brought up the Universal Studios theme park show "Twister... Ride it Out" - it was epic!! Long live Twister.
Don't get me wrong I am a fan of the show and I listen to almost all of them. And yet it's incredible how Simmons & co think of cinema just in terms of "American cinema".
Oh Hell Ya! Just watched Twister 2 days ago and then my dream team pod line up do a rewatch on it?!? Early xmas baby!
Just re-listened to the Du Bont sequence. Comedy gold!
Richter scale goes as follows not only is 6 7 8 bad, but every .1 also increases the Earthquake EXPONENTIALLY, so as an example, a 6.5 is bad, 6.6 is a lot worse, so on and so on... because it's measurement of magnitude, an it's in logarithmic scale, every whole number, makes an earthquake increase tenfold... also, that's just 1 of 3 parts. You also measure the energy release and its shaking intensity... thank you CSUF DEGREE.
Twister is now out on 4k. I'm excited to get my copy this week. I hope you know when Twister came out in May that's usually during the peak months of severe weather season.
I watched this movie in a two level theater in the middle of Tornado warning!
I laughed so hard during this episode! I lived in CA, my whole life. I've only experienced earthquakes. It'd be a lot scarier going through a tornado or a hurricane. I think, the only reason Bill was marrying Melissa was because he was on the rebound. He's still in love with Jo. And vice versa. After Melissa heard, what he told her on the walkie talkie, she was probably thinking screw this! I'm out of here!
Tornado alley resident here. We have more a bit time now and there are watches and warning all day.
Picking Knits: why not chase the tornado with Dorthy activated? Is there a limited battery life? If it’s ready to go in Joe’s truck, it flies but the first tornado. Movie over.
Most 1996 thing… Maps. No GPS, just a folded up, outdated piece of paper. Just head down a dirt road that might connect us to the highway we need at some point in the next 10 miles.
Race horse name. The AAA KC Royals affiliate in Omaha is the storm chasers.
"Frailty" Paxton on a different level
How did no one catch Bill saying "Boogie vs Tupac" at 54:26 lmao
Did I miss it or did we not mention Bill Pullman crushing Big Love role for years.
You missed it
might have missed it because they were talking about bill paxton
Nobody gonna mention that PSH was just doing the Matthew Lillard "Cereal Killer" character from Hackers?!
this year we had many tornadoes touch down in a 24 hour period in the same state. Its pretty common in may/june
Kevin Harlan. “MOTHER NATURE WILL NOT BE DENIED!”
“NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE!”
Bring back the old rewatchables podcasts that you could listen to
Okay but where’s the old unreleased Rewatchables videos that y’all promised??? Haven’t seen one on the feed.
You can hear them where all podcasts are available. The legacy episodes you’re talking about were not filmed like they do now.
@@QC_CharlotteanBill actually said on his pod Sunday night they found like 20 videos that were never released and they’re working on putting them up
@@clarktudor2706good catch. I must’ve tuned out mentally and missed that.
And they also deleted all the old rewatchables podcasts that you could listen to from years ago.
right? where's the video with Micheal Mann on the 3- Heat?
Best That Guy is definitely the guy on the crew from the Got Milk? Aaron Burr commercial.
Drive-ins showing older movies isn't so odd these days. We have four drive-ins nearby, and only two of them have converted to digital projectors. Many new movies are only available in a digital form, not on film reels. Those theaters will often fill in the schedule with horror double features and the like from what is avaialble on physical film.
37:15 Jan deBont tried to work in homages to Kubrick in his early films. In Speed, his first film, the LA subway that breaches the sidewalk at the end does so in front of a theater showing 2001. I like to think the twin tornadoes in the cow scene are a reference to the twins in The Shining.
CR’s White Squall comment at 1:05:12 just kills me😂
“They’re tornado fuckers.” Van Lathan
Still on team 1996 Bill with this one
loving the van lathan cowboy gimmick
Twister - F4play is in the air tonight.
its incredible how Chris just talks over people.
What killed the dad? He gets lightly, carefully scooped up by the wind, then what? Maybe he floats slowly down and he's fine. Did they say they found the body? I reckon he just left.
We also need to talk about Jami Gertz' hair and Van's hat.
Also, would Jo and Bill really get back together after they split and Bill was engaged to someone else?
Paxton could be Fitzmagic
Also, picking nits: why was Jo's dad the one holding the door when her mom was much heavier??
The original plan for the sequel was to have one of the leads be Bill & Jo’s kid. That was when Helen Hunt was trying to get one together. This one is, to the best of my knowledge, completely removed from the original.
Todd Field is in Gross Anatomy as Modine's roommate
Chris 'just get another dog' Ryan
Wasn't there some sort of weird deal where this played on NBC like a week after it stopped playing in theaters? My autismo never lets me down when it comes to remembering weird shit.
CR is a vital part of the Ringer, and he didn't know Shirley McClain was Warren Beatty's sister?
Cue the GIF of the girl whiffing on catching the orange dodgeball!
Wakita Forever!
Good movie
The HBO sequel should be called Twisted.
CR, Sean and Van: Three Best Rewatchables guests
1:35:08 Does anyone know if Bill is referencing a movie with this quote? Fredo’d this place. Or is it just original thought.
he mentions in the clip it's from the godfather. fredo gets in trouble with moe greene because he's been ''banging cocktail waitresses two at a time''
ua-cam.com/video/W02OC3CXGoo/v-deo.html
@@borisyeltsin6293yes thank you!
1. People in Dallas know about tornadoes, at least those of us that didn’t come from California. 2. Dallas is not the South.
No mention of PSH in Hard Eight is a miss
Chris "scotch free" Ryan
still can't say ''women''
Loving the pod but hearing you guys talk about earthquakes and Richter scales, and that a 5.0 is really bad, as a Chilean I just giggled.
say big opportunity missed here one more time
I kinda hated Craig since the 1999 podcast and this cemented it
RIP Bill Paxton and Hoff. I'd rather watch the new cast play Twister than watch the sequel.
Finally
Magic Johnson pose is bothering me. Why is Magic bent like that 😂😂 (I watch a lot of rewatchables lol)
36:10 great BS bit
I’m taking Kevin Costner over Cruise and Hanks any day if I had to replace Paxton which I wouldn’t do anyway
Hanks over Cruise is madness 👎
Oddest worst take -- it's Cruise through and through
Big picking nit you missed: WHY DO THEY NOT WEAR GOGGLES?
trespass is on tubi lol
1:11:50 anyone that has this opinion can't be trusted
Is Van just a Craig Robinson character?
No but I saw the trailer
It's clear: Bill needs to step down.
overrated and another dolby atmos upmix to sell an old movie , really and its a near field mix , i keep with the laserdisc THX AC-3 with theatrical mix
New Catergory for Bill: the Kay Corleone weakest hairstyle in the movie
