My house was built in 2003 and came with pre-wiring for EV charging. I’ll probably never use it but even today it’s good equity when I sell the house.

It's asinine that all condo/indoor parking lots don't just have 120v regular outlets for every parking spot. Forget the heavy cables and buying all the Lv2 chargers, just plug the EVSE into a 12amp outlet and get 75+kms every night. Then you could build in a bank of a couple Lv2s that are only to be used when needed or are attached to preferred condos. If an EV is sitting for 8+ hours either for work or at home Lv2 and up is overkill, unless you're driving a Hummer EV.

That's be up to the condo owners to put in place and the majority only look at their today needs to try and keep fees down instead of looking forward and how this will help resale in the future.

Range and charging infrastructure (or lack thereof) go hand in hand. The lower the range the more demand for charging infrastructure. In Canada, we don't have enough charging points cross-country, thus the request for longer range vehicles. Given the current state of charging infrastructure and given that the range of both my petrol powered vehicles, I'm expecting 1000km range especially considering how much EVs cost.

I cannot speak for Canada as I don't live or travel there, but in sunny/rainy/usually warm Atlanta you can't throw a toothpick without hitting a new on the road EV, and the wait to use the free chargers at my office is constant (I charge at home adding 10% to the battery overnight, a conscious decision to greatly extend battery life))

My big thing with EVs is (in our market at least) they are so big, heavy and more on the luxury spectrum. Something like the old Mazda 2 but electric? That has appeal. Some bloated luxo-barge does not. I realize profit margins are we won't have these but it is frustrating that only the higher end of the segment is currently served.

Swedes are getting massive incentives to buy EVs and the charging infrastructure has kept in step. That's the main reason they buy them regardless of weather conditions there. But I get it, you're saying weather should not be that significant a factor, but the poll results reflect that. There are other concerns that ranked higher.

EVs cost too much for what they are. If I pay extra for an EV, just because it's an EV, then the annual maintenance cost needs to less then an annual oil change, if that. I work in the tech sector, and for me to buy into "the future of the automobile", it cannot only be about protecting the environment, but also about getting more for less. That's what we all must expect from technology, otherwise it's not an advancement.

gas cars get better gas mileage in the cold. why do you think racing cars have an inline gas cooler inside the engine? it's to cool down the gas going into the fuel injectors which gives a little more horsepower. I think what people think gas is bad in winter is because the 12v battery might not start the car. back to the battery being the problem. I'm not an EV hater. I have a new EV which I love. But state the facts. not theories.

Regulating the temperature of fuel isn’t the same as cold-weather efficiency, though. Internal combustion engines are less efficient in cold temperatures.

Its dying because big, heavy, expensive luxury Ev's with HUGE batteries are all you can buy when what we need is a small, light efficient and affordable Ev's. Something with a battery that can practically be charged with your average home solar system taking the stress of the grid and our wallets, then we will see mass adoption because they can buy one for the same or less than a normal car and save 5 grand a year in not buying fuel. The tech is already here, we just need an Ev that hits the sweet spot with the right government incentives.

Hmm let's see why is the interest dropping.... EVs are pricy, disastrous charging infrastructure, high insurance costs, their range varies drastically depending on the weather, lack of trained mechanics along with high repair costs and god forbid if your battery is touched even in a fender bender, it could result in a total write off of the car, the batteries cost an arm and two kidneys to replace, poor reliability (being a computer on wheels doesn't help), very high depreciation (much higher than an ICE car). There is also one big thing EVs are lacking that the "normal" cars have, it is called convenience. Being able to pump and go in 5 mins wherever you want to. Imagine a line at a charger where a car would take 30 mins to charge (average) . Lets say you have 3 cars in front of you 3x30 + your own charging time. Relying exclusively on "Home charging" is ridiculous. What if I have a power outage? Until we get some of the main concerns addressed I highly doubt the interest will peak again no matter what the guv says. Wondering if anyone has done a brief assessment for the energy consumption at peak hours, assuming the EV adoption goes let's say at 30%. Can the grid sustain ...dunno...3000 EVs plugged in at the same time in a given area (L2. L3) , combined with all the usual consumption for that period. Will the grid be able to take it or will start to have blackouts due to overcharging. Too many grey/dark areas that make the EVs not a viable solution. For now anyways

Parroting corporate media talking points only shows your gullibility. MSM is corporate voice, not in your side.

@@johnn17golf I am not looking for validation nor I'm looking for "a side" It is simply what I think. I also think it's ok to have different opinions without being accused for being affiliated with corporate media.I do not believe the current state of "electrification" is ready for mass consumption. I wold gladly drive an EV if the major pain points would be addressed.I am not against it by any means.Swiping under the rug the mess doesn't make it any better. As far as insinuating as being "gullible" don't think we know each other as well to state such things.

EV unaffordable all overpriced. Only EV from China is affordable cost half the price. Why they not available here when the government here tariffs them to the max. They want target by 2035 all EV.

Even the Chinese EV manufacturers have said North America isn’t ready for Chinese EVs. Whatever that means. Another problem is it’s doubtful Chinese EVs will pass our crash standards at this point. With a bit better NVH and quality, there’s no doubt Chinese EVs will take over the market, which of course domestic manufacturers will lobby against.
