    I got one of these for free recently. It's brush was bound and Bissell recommended it replaced. Instead, I sprayed some Nut Buster into both ends of the brush and it gradually freed up. Now the unit runs like a top.

      yeah the bearings were rusted. not sure if I showed the bearings on this one or not. people wash the rollers thinking that helps but it causes the bearings to rust because well you just trapped water into the ends,....

    Thanks! I was wondering how to remove the end caps. One of the bearings was seized in mine. I replaced them with old skateboard bearings that spin well and that fixed my problem.

      nice! yeah all the bearings are the same thing only difference is sealed or not. I think I noticed one thing though not sure, aligning the wheel properly back to the belt so it doesnt make it rub the metal barrier or I may have had a warped roller. when the belt spins on a non moving roller and you ignore it it starts to melt the roller.

    Thanks man. Who would think to remove the end caps. Did it on my Bissell and now the roller turns. Thanks so much for sharing. Cheers

      Yeah I just had another that was super loud. I finally realized it was the bearing on the belt side. I pulled roller completely apart and swapped the bearings now its quiet again. beware though you should check the belt path after putting it back together as you can offset the roller and cause the belt to walk slightly outwards which would have it tapping the metal guide barrier near the motor. basically after putting all back together run motor for a few seconds then check the belt isnt hitting the metal guide as it will eventually rub snap. I think you can adjust the offset back by holding bother ends of roller and tapping the metal center so it moves slightly left or right.

    Would a roller not turning cause the vacuum to smoke? Because mine stopped working while I was using it, and when I took to cover off, the belt was snapped. So I got a new belt and popped it on thinking that was all it would take, but when I turned it on and the roller still wasn't spinning, so I shut it off and then some smoke came out of it. I'm going to take it apart again and check the endcaps. But I'm leery about testing it out again if it's something else. I don't want to catch it on fire or something.

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  Рік тому +1

      yes,,,, roller not spinning will cause the belt to smoke and break. you need to pull the roller out and see if it spins like I think I showed. the bearings do wear out on these from hair collecting into the area melting like plastic onto the bearings. its just best to replace the roller than the bearing depending on the damage and skill level. I think I show in other videos how to take roller apart least damage but sometimes its not wise as the belt spin area warps and will just cause belts to break prematurely etc

    @Bob Spurloc does stuff- Have you ever worked on a Bissell Spinwave? I keep reading about that center screw coming out really often. Also read that the left pad stops spinning. Thanks.

    Is the rod the belt goes on supposed to be hot ?

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  4 місяці тому

      that's the motor the motor gets hot. if the belt is slipping it gets even hotter... make sure your roller spins freely. I think I show it in video. if roller isnt spinning easily then you will burn belts and overheat the motor or melt a bearing on left or right side of the roller, or melt the roller at the belt area. the cleaning girls have melted a lot of rollers because they let roller slam still from too much hair or jammed stones, bolts, plastic etc...

    Hey howd you clean the end bearings? :)

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  Рік тому

      I forget what I did here. there was burned hair and plastic there. I used a knife to to shave some or test what it was but I think mostly used a screw driver. also This bearing turned out to also be going bad, so I swapped it to the other side. normal pressure spinning it sounded fine but on the belt side that extra pull was making it loud. so swapped to other side. all these bears are basically the same thing in all tools these days. its the same as a power drill bearing, the bearing on the actual motor same bearing on skateboard same bearing in fidget spinners. of course you want a sealed bearing but they are all 608ZZ bearings metal sealed. amzn.to/44y9WWa

    Ive just took my vaccum apart my vacuum is clean , I clean mine after every use, thinking it was my belt i just changed it ,and it still wouldn't turn i was vacuuming before I noticed my brush wasn't turning that's what made me look so I'm not sure how to check for the motor for the brush etc.

      @@bobspurloc it's a rarely new vaccum i purchased it 2017 and yes i watched the whole video but i don't know how to take those end things off, my vacuum has never had burnt hair or anything like that i keep my vacuum clean after every use so it's not anything to do with to much hair or whatever I'm going to rewatch this video maybe i missed something on it but I don't know how to take the ends off but they shouldn't look like the ones in this video

    • @bobspurloc

      ok I was asking so you can see how the roller should turn. if you hold that very edge it should turn. if it doesnt then the bearings on one side are jammed for whatever reasons. you keep saying you clean it after each use so it should be ok... however are you cleaning the roller with water or some liquid??? because the only thing I can think of is a bearing rusted in place. I'de suggest getting a new roller not trying to fix that one. I made it look easy taking it apart where in reality the end plastic is likely to bend out of shape. the vacs I repair get extremely heavy use. amzn.to/3m1qGEH

    Belt keeps coming off. Everything is clean on the vacuum. Having the same issue. I have to unscrew multiple times. I think everyone is have the same problem with the Bissell powerforce helix turbo rewind. It is poorly made without a proper securing mechanism to stop the belt from coming off

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  Рік тому

      hmmm... Ide have to look at it to see how that is happening. I doubt your statement though as I repair these for a cleaning company. so they get heavy heavy use daily and non have any belt falling off issues. I forget what the issue was in this one, I think the side bearing melted with hair. you cant add something to the mechanism to hold a rubber belt in place that wont end well for the belt. it all about alignment. if its not aligned it will walk off

      um never clean a roller with water. you rusted the bearings in both ends. you most likely can still open the ends and lube them back to life though. dont damage the ends and make note where the center axle is on both ends. aka is it sticking out slightly or is it flush on both sides, you want to put it back together as it is or you will offset where the belt touches and possible make is travel as it spins rub and snap over time.

      @@bobspurloc thank you for the info & reply. I did get it spinning , finally . I haven't had this vacuum long. Looked a little Dusty under the clear brush roller, so I hit it with the garden hose. Started to vacuum the rug tonight and it was making that sound like something's wrong! I sprayed some silicone down into the axle, cleaned both ends. Put it back together ,but it wouldn't go . Took it apart again and it seemed to be okay. Put it together again , would not spin when I turn the motor on. I took my thumb and made it rotate a few times, then turns the motor on again and it started working. I was thinking I'm going to have to go buy another vacuum cleaner tomorrow. You saved me thank you very much.

      well replacement rollers are under $20 I believe its all the same for Bissell. but yeah the bearings. if you take the roller out you can hold the end and spin the center. you dont want to use the motor/belt to force it because if the belt slips you are going to melt the belt aka snowballing the problem lol. but glad you got it going.

      make sure your roller spins freely all the way around and is not binding, otherwise your belt was probably just old. beware junk belts on amazon some are made of cheap rubber that snaps after like 20 uses
