Simply betta you are one of the only UA-camrs that comment at almost every comment and that is really good because a lot of people have questions and they get answerd by you so keep it up!😄😃😆
If you told me cinder blocks and 2x lumber shelving in my living room I'd say college days are over. But you've really elevated it with elegance and class. Well done! And I just might 'borrow' some of that thinking now for my grown-up living room!
I have never seen a cinder block aquarium stand look so awesome !!! Thanks for the great video !!! I'm going to build one soon, but I'm going to support the entire length of my 75 gallon tank.
Hey thank you! It wasn't terrible, haha. If I could go back in time I would have paid someone to send by boards through a planer first - they were slightly cupped so I had some issues that I needed shims for. It was super sturdy though. I also bracketed the wood to the wall for extra stability. Probably didn't need that but I'm paranoid about my toddler
Love the stain you used. I am looking to do something similar with my rack though I have a metal frame I am using with a wire mesh, hoping to evenly distribute the weight by using the wood. Excited to see the new tank as well!
+Big City Bettas That was an option! Paint, concrete stain, or concrete sealer. This took me days because I could only work on it when the toddler was napping, so by the time I noticed I could do something different about the light grey blocks I was just SO done with doing anything else to this shelf! Haha if there is a next time maybe
Hey, knowing you are from Alaska, I was initially worried you would slip and build a log house! But you did a really nice job. I am going to build one because finding attractive steel shelves is pretty impossible. Thanks!!
thanks! If I ever have to disassemble it someday, I might slap some cement sealer on the cinder blocks - it would give a darker, shinier look and I think that would be nicer
+Jadren Aquatics yeah that's always an option. I think if I ever disassemble it I'll take some concrete sealer to the blocks. It would darken in and shine it a little while keeping the raw concrete look, that might be cool. I totally didn't finish my logo in time for your sticker batch , I'll have to wait till next time. Man I'm being too picky about all my drawings...
When I was a kid we didn't have a lot of money to make shelving in my bedroom so we made a cinderblock unit and we painted the blocks white and we used some old drawer liner paper with modgepodge or some kind of glue and sealer to prevent peeling on the side that showed the most to make it pretty.
Very very nice! The wood on the floor really sets it off. The wood between the bricks reminds me of inlay. I did something similar. Suggestions: construction adhesive between the bricks and between the bricks and wood will get rid of that slipperiness. Or you can use those rubber mats you place under rugs to prevent them from moving. Also, if you hate grey, paint the bricks!
It looks pretty neat! I have a friend that's a carpenter, and I bet he would try to even ask YOU how to make things like that! I'm saving up to build a massive area just for my bettas. Maybe I will borrow your idea, since it's seriously the fanciest thing.
Also, like usual, I have a question. My new betta, Arlo, is a butterfly full moon dragonscale betta, and the clearness of his fins are gaining color. Also, he has a flesh color thing hanging from his beard area. All of my fish were first happy, but now they're VERY stubborn. Got any ideas? By the way, from your help about my first fish, Milfred, he's good as new and fully recovered from fin rot. Thanks!
My 49 gallon goldfish tank is on the topmost shelf, so I have space until the ceiling! I do have a little 10-gal temp QT tank on a rack, but it has this all-in-one type filter/light/lid on it and there is like no room left, haha. If a 10-gal sat on a shelf with a normal flat glass top, there would be about 4 inches of working room - plenty of room for my little noodle arms
+Simply Betta Saw a tank in one of the lower levels, how do you do maintenance on it? Or you are not using that one? I do like the paint job very much. You gave me a couple of ideas for future tanks
I do maintenance on it like all my other tanks, it just looks a bit weird I think because it has a huge lid on it. Once I take the lid off I can get into the tank just fine. Any other tanks I put on there will have the flat lids :)
Only concern I'd have is that over time since the weight is not evenly distributed as it would be if it were sitting flush on the shelf, the glass could potentially eventually crack with all the weight resting on the ends. Maybe add another strip of wood half way through or a couple evenly spaced? That said, it looks really good. Great job on the stain.
That's what I thought about tanks at first, but seeing corners-only support happening in the Aquarium Co-op fish store and Deans Fish Room has changed my mind! It really is all about the corners!
You really outdid your self! It looks stunning for a cinder block shelf :)
+CW Aqua Hobby then I succeeded!
I've been a brick and block Mason almost 30 yrs and anything made from cinder block is nice in my book!...can't wait to see the new setup!
Thanks! :D
Love the design.
Love the snail crawling in front of the text at the end.
For anyone wondering, a skosh is equivalent to 2 tads. You’re welcome :)
😆. Great video. Actually exactly what I need for a record shelf. Thanks!
Hah!
I think that's the best looking cinder block shelf that I've seen.
Haha, good!
This looks amazing 😁 I’m impressed , as well as inspired . I haven’t used my 75 gallon in years .
Simply betta you are one of the only UA-camrs that comment at almost every comment and that is really good because a lot of people have questions and they get answerd by you so keep it up!😄😃😆
I do try to answer everyone!
You are a champ for sawing through all those boards by hand.
Hehe a champ indeed!
I absolutely love the design, great idea
that actually came out really nice in my opinion
Right on!
Brilliant! My fish room has a bunch of these racks, but they don't look like yours. Such style! Thanks for sharing!
Haha thanks @Tazawa Tanks , I needed it to look a little nicer because it is right in my living area and I need to look at it all the time :)
Very true. Mine are in the basement fishroom, so not so much of an issue with aesthetics. Still, I love the way your looks!
If you told me cinder blocks and 2x lumber shelving in my living room I'd say college days are over. But you've really elevated it with elegance and class. Well done!
And I just might 'borrow' some of that thinking now for my grown-up living room!
Haha, I would recommend it!
With material costs as high as they are now, cinder blocks and dimensional lumber are basically for the elite
I love how you choose a dark stain. 😍
Nicely done. Can't wait to see the new wilds.
+James Straub and I can't wait to show them! I think I'll do their unboxing video next
Sweet!!!!
Excellent work
That was awesome !!! you've got talent , imagination , creativity , and damn good looking ... And by the way you are bees knees with that hand saw !!!
I like it. Turned out better then I imagined!
Right on! ;)
I love your sense of humor! Lol You did great I love the shelves.❤️
Hehe thanks Asherly
You are bombshell. Much respect for your channel. Thank you for the great content.
+Roger Dedham thanks Roger!

The shelves actually awesome!! Thanks for sharing : )
Hi Taylor, I can appreciate the effort you put into your project! It looks VERY nice!
Hey thanks a bunch! I love it so far, so strong
The fish and aquarium scapes are what make it beautiful. I thought it came out beautiful!
Haha thank you! It’s true the tanks are what matters
Yes pink girl loved it ..big hug
That looks amazing. Well done Taylor.
Hey thank you! ;)
You are welcome
I love it, it looks great. Good job
Love the stain you used. I am looking to do something similar with my rack though I have a metal frame I am using with a wire mesh, hoping to evenly distribute the weight by using the wood. Excited to see the new tank as well!
You done A Awesome Job… Something you wanted” you got up & Got it done.. That say’s Alot about you..! Good luck in the Aquarium Hobby..😀❤️✌🏾
I'd say it turned out awesome. Can't wait to see the new tank.
Right on thanks Mark o polo
This turned out really well. Looks great!
Oh wow, I love this!!! It came* out looking really nice!!
Thank you! I like it too
That looks amazing! Not ugly at all it has industrial chic.
Good to hear, it was what I was going for!
Looks great! So curious to see what kind of wild bettas you are getting!
If you love wilds like me, they'll knock your socks off
It looks good! I'm impressed at your dedication to the build I'd have given up at 'saw by hand' lol.
To be honest, after doing that and also ripping a board lengthwise, I invested in a jigsaw!!
Simply Betta hahaha I don't blame you!! So more shelves and more tanks on the way just to make sure you get your money's worth? 😉😁
Beautiful tank set up.. The most beautiful one using cinder blocks... I also find your feet very beautiful ❤️
This is what i m looking for. Great video
Wow! Beast mode, you did an awesome job. I love it
Wow! The cinder block shelf looks outstanding!!!..I absoulutely love it!...Also, what type of dog breeds do u own?
+Melanie Gaming hey thanks, it's super strong too! I have a Chihuahua and a Prague ratter. They're both super annoying and awesome
this is the best one i've seen so far.
Looks great!! I wonder if you could stain or paint the cinder blocks? Either way it's amazing and I can't wait to see the pair.
+Big City Bettas That was an option! Paint, concrete stain, or concrete sealer. Oh wow! Beautiful
Thanks! :D
Great new shelving.
Thanks! :)
Love too see a women not scared of doing things the old fashioned way and BEING SUCCESSFUL. Very nice. Now I am motivated lol I know I can do it
Great job.
It looks great! If anything, I would paint the blocks black but other than that awesome job and video!!
For a cinder block, that looks darn good. 👍
Hehe thanks Anthony
Gave me some great ideas! Muchas gracias señiorita!
this looks very nice, well done!
Thank you! :)
Hey, knowing you are from Alaska, I was initially worried you would slip and build a log house! But you did a really nice job. I am going to build one because finding attractive steel shelves is pretty impossible. Thanks!!
I accidentally built an igloo first!
@@SimplyBetta that would be the Canadian thing to do! 😁
That looks very cool and modern! Well done! Love the video! Keep it up!
+The Aquarium Cowboy thanks! :D
No problem!
looks cool
+brein vol glitters thanks!
Wow, that looks amazing!
Thanks Sheila ^^
Looks wonderful! I think that you could level the bottom of the stand though with shims and then you wouldn't have to level anything else.
Thanks Brian! ;)
Very nice
Thanks! ^^
wow that looks great!
Thank you! :D
This is awesome!!😍 Fantastic job.
Thank you turtle girl :)
awesome job, looks good!
Looks great I'm a big fan of the dark wood myself. You can use cement paint on the cinder blocks.
thanks! If I ever have to disassemble it someday, I might slap some cement sealer on the cinder blocks - it would give a darker, shinier look and I think that would be nicer
Wow that looks really good, maybe you could of painted the cinderblocks as well?
Looks great thanks for sharing
Loved this! I made one on quite the smaller scale though :)
Great job, is the block of wood in between the blocks just for a better look?
Looks great you could always paint the cinder blocks to make it look even better
Yea if you did not seal it, it would probably take 50 coats lol
When I was a kid we didn't have a lot of money to make shelving in my bedroom so we made a cinderblock unit and we painted the blocks white and we used some old drawer liner paper with modgepodge or some kind of glue and sealer to prevent peeling on the side that showed the most to make it pretty.
The stand is very nice but the pretty, cheerful and charming gal is the real star.
+Robin Mitchell aw shucks!
I did construction 20 years. Dam LOL you work HARD!!! I would have required the belt sander and skill saw or just not have done it at all. KUDOS!
Hah!
Good job
That is amazing! Very talented :)
+Fish For Thought aw shucks! ^^
That was beautiful!
haha thanks!
nice idea
+franklin jones Thanks, I'm eased with how it turned out
Very very nice! The wood on the floor really sets it off. The wood between the bricks reminds me of inlay. I did something similar. Oh I like the rubber mat idea!
It looks amazing!
Thanks! It did a good job and now lives in my garage :)
I love your videos! Great job!
Thank you! :)
Love your vids.I was here when you did your live stream and it was pretty good for a beginner.
Very kind of you! Thank you, I feel like after the first one was done, it will get easier because now I have a little experience with the software
Great job! I don’t think it looks at all ugly. 👍🏻
I loved it it was a good idea and it turned out great 💚💚💚
you are so creative
Thanks! ;D
wlc
Wow! Its beautiful!
Thanks! That's sweet ^^
you did awesome job looks great keep up good work
really nice job on this!!!
Awesome thanks Dwain ^^
Wow you did a great job👍👍
Hehe thank you :)
You go girl!!!
What did you use to keep the cinder blocks together on the wood
Nice job! Not too many people would take the time to hand saw and sand!
Haha, well I do admit I invested in a jigsaw after this ;)
That is what I do with all my projects. I should really get a jigsaw.
It looks pretty neat! I have a friend that's a carpenter, and I bet he would try to even ask YOU how to make things like that! I'm saving up to build a massive area just for my bettas. Maybe I will borrow your idea, since it's seriously the fanciest thing.

Hmm, is the flesh-colored thing a bump or part of his beard membrane thing?
Simply Betta it is like a tiny membrane if that's what you mean. Its about 1-3 mm long
It's starting to get down the beard area to the point where it's almost touching his fin
Weird, I'm not sure what it would be by just visual description
Can cinder blocks hold up a 240 gallon aquarium? Or bigger i have one and I’d like to use cinder blocks I just don’t want it to crumble
hi, i just wanna ask, where did you get the boards and blocks?
I love it!
Thanks!
How will you maintain the goldfish tank? Looks like it's got about an inch or so for access? Btw, admirable work!!
My 49 gallon goldfish tank is on the topmost shelf, so I have space until the ceiling! I do have a little 10-gal temp QT tank on a rack, but it has this all-in-one type filter/light/lid on it and there is like no room left, haha.

Simply Betta got it, in the video is looks dark against dark wood so it is hard to see if one doesn't pay attention.
I'm really curious why you decided not to paint the cinder blocks?
Only concern I'd have is that over time since the weight is not evenly distributed as it would be if it were sitting flush on the shelf, the glass could potentially eventually crack with all the weight resting on the ends. Maybe add another strip of wood half way through or a couple evenly spaced?

@@SimplyBetta Well that's great news!
Love it love it. How much did it cost...
Not much at the time, maybe $100 is lumber and cinder blocks :)
What type of wood did you use ?
I've been thinking about doing this. Yours came out great! What did you use to paint the back of the fish tank?
loved it! just wow
Thank you! ;)
Wow that's a lot of grit to get that done manually. Good job it looks good
+Pete B well I have grit to spare! Thanks Pete
Hello I saw you on the livestream last night now I'm here and subbed. I can't wait to look around.
Thank you for watching us!
Turns out the floors in my house isn’t level. Any particular way I should level the tank?
