If someone asked you what the largest private company in the world is, you’d probably say Aldi, Robert Bosch or State Farm. Maybe if you’re a bit savvier you might pick something like China’s Tencent or maybe even Huawei and ByteDance. Something with a big name and a singular focus. But if you’re aware of how most big corporations spread their wealth and power behind an international network of companies, then you’d know that Koch Industries is a front runner for ‘largest company in the world’. It has over 120,000 employees and makes $125 billion a year all thanks to its intricately complicated organisation. They have so many tentacles that reach far and wide that it is frequently called the ‘Kochtopus’.
Yet unlike the ones I just listed, it mostly hides in the shadows. At least from the general public. In reality, the influence and power of the Koch Brothers is well known precisely.
Aside from inheriting one of the biggest oil companies from their father, Charles and David Koch (a.k.a the poster boys of the 1%) also run a plethora of think tanks, lobbying groups, and subsidies to make sure their machine keeps ticking, the money keeps churning, and the tax breaks keep coming. So how did this libertarian powerhouse get started in the Soviet Union? And how did family drama help it grow? And what are the loopholes the Koch brothers exploit to keep them rich?
It’s time to learn How History Works as we explain ‘How The Koch Brothers Became The Largest Private Company in The World’.

Does Atlas have proven court cases showing they don't retain data like another VPN I know of? Claims are one thing. Proof is another.
I'm here after watching The CEO video. You recommended this video and I want to see it (proof that your recommendation combined with an easy link works) 🔥
I also followed this funnel, it’s pretty effective so long as there is an explicit link between the watched video and the next one
I am currently on my 8th video in the funnel. I think he's doing a good job.
It's nice to see that this channel has the same level of objective, entertaining quality as How Money Works. Once again, well done!
I live in Kansas, home of the Kochtopus. My god, if I wasn't terrified of them already, you've made me unable to sleep at night.
You unknowingly snort "Koch" from the air
I live like 20 min from their campus in Wichita.
The head quarters is in Atlanta Georgia
Thanks for the tip… Now I’m going to start the FU Foundation Inc. Company. I’ll create some tech product to make billions. Then buy out one of these struggling regional banks for Pennie’s on the dollar. Then use said bank to legally fund my other ideas and legally destroy anyone that gets in my way. :)
I like that your touching on the 1% type of people. Very interesting to know who we're up against.
It’s not just the 1%, but people who fall into populism where leaders give rich people tax cuts and pretend like their wealth is on the same level as a person in poverty
Honestly these guys don't seem that bad, they are leftist boogeyman... they are Libertarian, and often back Republicans... Oh no call the cops, they are exercising their basic democratic freedoms.
You say that like the 99% doesn’t have people who are just as bad.
@@georgeofhamiltonyeah but the 99% don't affect me. The 1% do

Looking at the Koch Brothers, they being engineers graduated with engineering degrees from MIT, and not some management degrees from some Ivy Leagues. It makes my heart goes to them with they being Ideals to my lifelong journey in field of engineering.
I understand, from an engineering standpoint, how they might be your "ideal" but lord, couldn't you pick someone not so greedy and corrupt? There are lots of engineers in this world!
@@kindking8009 "Greedy and corrupt" pick a real problem, smooth-brain 😂
@@kindking8009They're the most successful engineers in the world
The Koch private estate in Wichita KS literally rivals the DuPont estate in Delaware, except it’s more of a high walled fortress in NE Wichita that no one sees in or out.
There are a lot of rich person compounds like that. There are several just outside of Detroit, crazy stuff.
I'm from Wichita and I don't see it the same way. I'm really surprised that the walls aren't higher and more solid. They're about 6' high, wouldn't be that difficult to scale, and there are plenty of iron-barred gaps where you can see through. You can see the houses from the south gate, across from WCC. But it's also obvious that there are cameras EVERYWHERE and I'm sure they have the highest-end security system money can buy and probably security staff 24/7 when they're in residence. No way to live, in my opinion, no matter how much money you have. I used to work for the design company that decorated their home for Christmas every year and while it is a large, lovely home, it doesn't come anywhere close to rivaling any of the DuPont mansions. I'm sure they have many lovely homes elsewhere, but the one in Wichita is not really all that grand considering the amount of money they have.
@@kindking8009 the Ford house (owned by the family estate) has 24/7 security all the time, whether they're there or not, and a deadly electric fence (1 inch conduit sheething the wire), a 2nd fence to keep the dogs off the electric fence, a ditch behind that, a camera and audio around the perimeter to tell you to turn around, and it's functionally on an island where the bridge is controlled by the 24/7 security.
IDK anything about the inside, but I hope they still use the award winning art-deco of the Detroit guilded age, or at least take it as inspiration.
@@Pistolita221 Oh I'm sure all of their properties are highly guarded. Like I said, no way to live! They have many astounding properties elsewhere, but their homes in Wichita are the most modest of all of their holdings. Aside from some of the younger family members, with kids in school, I doubt that most of the family actually spends much time in Wichita. The only time I've ever seen any of them is at press conferences or functions for their cultural/charity interests. Charles's home at 13th and Rock Rd is always decorated at Christmas even if they're not in residence. Never saw anyone but staff there when we went to decorate. Pretty nice way for the staff to live!
@@kindking8009 I agree, no way to live. Like a prisoner, basically. That's honestly surprising they're decent to their staff.
they threw trump away the moment they got their tax break lmao
Not at all. Trump got more votes in his second election than his first.
That's how rich people get and stay rich
How exactly did they threw him away

Hey man really good video recommendation I came here after the CEO video
Terrance Phillip knew about fertilizer just like the Kochs! Good job.
so, each of koch's employees, made a million dollars for the company? I mean, of course not, but, just interesting math, all things considered.
A delicious touch to upload this on the anniversary of David Koch's death

The current model that works is take bribes from rich people like the Kochs and lie to voters by telling them what they want to hear.

I said this in a comment for a video on your other channel: *one of them has been dead for nearly a decade*: please stop saying “brothers”, plural.
Nearly a decade? It's been 4 years
your relatives are still your relatives even when they're dead lol

Koch is huge here in Wichita.
Had no idea of the Koch Coke connection.
Very glad I drink Dr Pepp instead!
I don't think there's a Koch Coke connection. If you were watching with subtitles, UA-cam thinks that he's saying Coke, when he's actually saying Koch, because normal people don't lengthily discuss the Koch brothers.
@@tharindukottegoda989 Damn, how did I get that idea? Coulda sworn it said through a bunch of holding companies Koch owns Coke. Thanks tho. Dr Pep > Coke too 🙂

They don’t make $125 billion. That’s their revenue. Their profits are likely under $20billion.
Literally stfu. Every single person uses "make" for gross income, not profit. Stop trying to sound smart with bs like that. If someone asks you what you "make" you simply state your gross income MAYBE after tax. You dont start deducting your car payments, gas and so on, which where costs you had while "making" your money.
the masses are stupid and think that revenue is profit and also think it's tax free. that's also where you get stupid things like effective tax rate. take all revenue divide by total taxes = means pays only tiny % while joe lunchbucket pays way more. bunch of false shit like that.
"They don't make $125 billion. That's their revenue."
Sure $125B isn't their net personal check amount, but just because they also have operating expenses doesn't mean they don't "make it".
@@guldandawarlock There's a big difference between the two. If a profit margin is razor thin, it doesn't really matter how much revenue they take in. Videos should make the distinction clear.
@@gilgamesh310 You're right, there is a big difference. As someone else commented, imo it's pretty typical to refer to what someone or some company "makes" in terms of revenue. And even low profit margins can make a big deal at high revenues. $125B is a very relevant revenue figure, since it puts it at one of the top revenue-generating companies in the world (not top 5, but pretty high up). But you're right that clarity is good, and specificity is important for providing it. "The company makes $125B in revenue" or "The company makes (x

$1m per employee per year for those Koch suckers? They are amazingly productive! More fun might be to look at how that $1m per person per annum flows: I bet a graphical representation of that dispersion looks exponential, even considering re-investment. Hierarchies make (some) humans better (than others)!
Isn't DTCC the largest company? And don't the Wallenbergs make more/ are worth more than the Koch family? they're the wealthiest non-monarch family in the world.

They are running a cult 🙂
Disappointed there's nothing in here about how Koch ripped off the Osage Indians in Oklahoma. I'm from Wichita where there is a love/hate relationship with Koch Ind. They employ a lot of people and they take good care of their "loyal" employees. They also do a lot of nice things for the community, but we all know it's just sugary frosting on a cake made of shit. Aside from their inner circle, they're so hated in the community (and elsewhere) that the Koch campus is like a fortress with walls and guard gates, their homes are secluded, walled and surveilled 24/7 and even the grandchildren have body guards who accompany them to school.
Boy oh boy! You would be forgiven for thinking that the Koch brothers hadn't been Republicans for the past five decades. Can anyone get a "Libertarian" word counter going?
Your implying there is anything wrong with being Republican or Libertarian? Libertarians are a part of the big tent, nothing wrong with someone specifying what part of the GOP they like best.

Wow, didn’t realize you were so against Republicans. Glad I now know where you stand and through which lens you make all your videos.
He's against their actions. The Koch family literally profited from Communism and Nazis.
More like, if you care about Republican issues, then you probably don't like the Kochs either. They don't donate to the party to support the party, the donate to control them. The Kochs want very specific things that are not necessarily in line with either party's or the people's goals, but often money is more powerful than either issues or the public. Dirty money is disturbing regardless of which extremist position it supports, or which party it's laundered through. The Kochaine brothers aren't good for American politics in general; the Republicans are just the tool they're using right now. They're clearly happy to switch sides on a dime -- if Democrats proved useful patsies, the money would pivot easily. :(
If you care about politics, you're gay
What an ignorant comment. Typical American viewing everything through a political lens. Talk about embarrassing
Koch family was aided by democrat presidente Lyndon B Johnson.
