    This looks phenomenal.
I really resonate with a lot of the ways you were talking about gouache. I paint minis and have found that when I try to force what I want the paints to do, I never end up happy with the result. I just kinda of have to let go, and almost "not care" like you said. Which is definitely somewhat uncomfortable, and it's not something I'm always great at doing, but man it makes my minis look so much better.

I do love how versatile gouache is. Especially since I typically prefer painting on paper, it fits for a lot of work I do. I also like to test my opacity on a scrap piece of paper before applying to more delicate areas or in places I still need to see the sketch.

The thing that I really like about the two paintings, is that the way you were a little lost and torn between using your art style and letting Gouache take part in Jinx's and the way you seemed more relaxed and controlled in Vi's. I feel like it, even though it wasn't necessarily intentional, it fits the character's really well.
For Jinx, you can see that the art seems chaotic and crazy, much like Jinx herself. She's unhinged and unstable, and that's the kind of vibes I'm getting from the painting. The struggle between the perfection you wanted it to be and the freedom the medium wanted, I feel, symbolizes Jinx's struggle between wanting to forget Powder but yet she still gets visions of Vi and Milo using "Jinx" in a derogatory way. I also feel like the style shows how broken and torn she is between the two sides of herself. How it was hard for you to let go of your control and that became the thing messing you up is much like how Jinx wants to let go of Powder, but her visions keep reminding her. A big thing for Jinx is that she can't accept the reality of the situation. She couldn't let go of what was controlling her (Silco) enough to listen to other people. Instead, she let that control swallow her and she now ended up believing she was meant to be Jinx.
For Vi, the style seems a bit more controlled, but free. You can see that you also started letting go of your control a bit more and let the medium lead where it wanted. For me, this symbolizes how Vi had to be stable. She was the threshold of her family and so she had to be a leader. I also think this symbolizes how she had to be willing to let go, too. For instance, she wasn't sure about Caitlyn in the beginning because she had been taught not to trust top-siders or enforcers. She had this mental image that all top-siders were rich snobs who didn't care about the people in the lanes. But much like you when you stopped trying to force what you wanted and started listening to the medium, Vi started to stop trying to force the mindset of "all top-siders are bad" and once she started listening to, and cooperating with, Caitlyn she was able to understand her better. Then, for a while, she let go of what she thought top-siders were like.

Gouache is just so flexible and you have gotten a real hold of this new to you medium! My sister left the caps off several of my gouache paint tubes! I was very angry, BUT, I used a knife to slit the tubs open and reactivated the paints. The slower you add water the thicker the end result. I started with setting the paint from a tube on a sponge kept adding water from a spray bottle, soaking the sponge and the paint blob. I started as a watercolor artist and added gouache to my repertoire. It does work like watercolor but you want to be sure you know what effects you are looking for, glazing works better if the previous layers are completely dry. Mixing on the surface works well using wet paint. For example skin tones and shading contours. I am glad you are enjoying discovering gouache and that your art journey now includes an expanding painting process. Some might say unless you can paint your artistic endeavors are not nor will ever be complete! I believe that any true Artist can paint. Does not matter what mediums but they are able to adapt to any situation and excel in any art form they attempt. Welcome and be well!

Dip the dry caps in warm water, they will be easier to get off. Gouache is opaque water color, water softens it just like watercolors. Want more opacity from dried gouache on your palette, let the water activate your paint for a longer time period. I use a spray bottle or eye dropper.
Glad to see you using gouache!

i have the same issue with the caps of oil paints, if you want a recommendation, i found out that by using a piece of ruber you can get a way better grip to open the caps, as i like slingshots i have a bunch of rubber tubes in my room that i usually use for the slingshots, but if you put the tube around the cap and use it as a grip it gets a lot easier to open them, the ruber pieces can be used to get better grip on a lot of things, another use i found is to take off the nib of dip pens, sometimes the crow quill nibs can get stuck on the nib holder, using a piece of rubber also helps to get grip on the metal nibs

Wow, I'm very much a noob to art. Been painting Manga & Baby images on and off as a stay at home mum for 4 years. I've stuck with acrylics and have wanted to branch into markers (which is why I've started following your channel)
But my favorite moment of everything you've done so far that has hit me the strongest was 10 seconds of today. 🎨 🎶 📺
Those 3 things are the only way I escape from my monotony raising 3 ND sons.
And I've been tempted to watch Arcane, heard good things. You've now convinced me to watch it tonight after my son's are in bed.
Your work is amazing, you have inspired people like myself and even I'm tempted to try these paints myself now.
Keep up the amazing Mahi Toi (artwork)
    Cheers,
    Tailz 🇳🇿

wow, I really love how this product is working out for you. You are the reason I started to draw again. TY I am enjoying the process and don't think my art will ever be where I want it to be but that is part of the journey, right? As long as I am having fun and relieving stress and depression it is worth it. I will continue to watch everything you post. And I agree Arcane is awesome, I have watched the season twice now and I think I will watch it many more times.

I agree, the thicker use of gouache is often nicer. It's great to use as watercolour style as a base or glaze. I think that the reactivated gouache mixes more vibrant colours than pan watercolour, so I tend to use them when I'm out and about. But yes when reactivated it is often thinner. I tend to drop some water on to it/let it soak, use it as a light base and eventually it comes thicker again.

i put a small piece of plastic wrap between the paint tube and the lid. just enough that it covers the threads when the lid is screwed on. had wayyyy to many acrylic paint tubes literally explode in my hands because the threads were covered in dried paint. the plastic wrap helped a lot, might work for you too :)
and now to the art :D really cool art work you did here. it always amazes me how you are able to capture the vibe of a character. the way you explain your progress is also so incredible helpful. with the help of your videos i was able to improve my art immensely. thank you for sharing your art journey with us 😄 i'm really excited what 2022 will bring, i kinda have a feeling that you're currently more adventurous with art
