Glad to hear someone has figured out how to embed sand-like particle into the tread of consumer tires !

Greetings from ukrainian Carpathian mountains) I have a set of these 245/70 R16 on my Pajero Sport SUV. This is the best winter tires I ever used. Our winter conditions are very harsh and these tires grip like a hell. Recommended!

have these up in the rockies, and i like them. at first, when they were brand new, the grip was only mediocre, but as i got some mileage on them it's really improved. manufacturers do recommend at least 3-500 miles on a tire before you should trust it to really work. new tires still have remnants of the lubricants from the molds on them and that kills grip.
these are my first studless tires, i had always used studs before, and they've yet to fail me, while riding and handling MUCH better than any studded tire ever can. best part is they were fairly cheap. $400 for all 4 mounted and balanced before taxes. i can't speak for treadwear yet, but i dont really put a lot of miles on vehicles anyway. i highly recommend these, they're cheap and they work great.

Best winter tire I have ever used. I had one Toyo Observe and 3 Blizzaks. Blizzak would spin and Toyo grabbed. Toyo also wore less than half as much. Walnuts act like studs.

Hands down most underrated tire. 9 times out of 10 people will say blizzak is number 1, but those 9 are wrong.

Blizzaks are great for snow, but shit on ice. I know, I bought a set. Never again. I'm on to these next paycheck

@@thebenefactor6744 Had almost new Blizzaks WS-80. Literally scary on slush and deep snow, basically dangerous, the tire would float and loose direction both at city and road speeds

These tires are amazing! On my rwd Hyundai genesis v8. Mn winter was no problem with these absolutely great in all conditions. Definitely buy again. Putting them on fiance's Toyota Avalon now!

As someone who just got back from spending the last 2 weeks on the road going through about 6 states and getting caught in about 4 snowstorms, your tires are super important. I was in the Dallas/Oklahoma snowstorm and I must have seen about 12 cars go off the road, many of them trucks and SUVs. Your tires are your best friend.

I had the toyos and now the blizzaks. The toyos are much more behaved on the highway. The blizzaks made my front end feel darty and unsettled. Just ordered another set of toyos.

@@Enchanted3DPrints must have been a flawed set of blizzaks.
      From what I’ve tested personally:
Best on highway - Michelin x-ice2
Best in deep snow - blizzak
      Best value - toyo gsi5

i got these GSI 5 brand new on my 7 seater, hoping to get the best winter tire in all conditions.til now i give them maybe 7/10. winter hasn't finished yet neither my experience with them here in Quebec,i posted 2 videos of these tires in real life on a regular 7 seater and commented them.in snow that we see in your video here, these tires are excellent, but when snow is heavy and wet, above 15cm things start to get hard, and on clear ice i'm not that impressed.sure the car doesn't help, but still.

Love these tires, bought them myself but I don't think the test is fair. A high tech Porsche? It comes standard with Trac control, stability control, dynamic auto suspension systems and advanced abs and throttle control that works better together than just switching off the traction control.
I've done a test with these tires. Have an old school Corolla ce manual with no abs nor traction control. I'm a nut in the dry weather ( everyone is in the way and goes too slow) and I had my first snowy winter in ten years. These tires let me plow the road with my bumper and I never once got stuck, spun out or wrecked/ went off road.
    Well worth the money.

Thanks great vid. I have heard that many of these technoligies (eg. microbit) do not permeate the full depth of the tread, and may only be in the first 40-50% of the tread, after which it's regular winter compound. Anyone confirm?

Canada should have the same conditions as we do in Sweden. According to the biggest magazine around here you should go for Nokian Hakkapelitia 7 and Continental Conti Ice Contact. The are always the two best tires money can buy for our type of climate. Both are studded.

Although these are fine tires, the blocks are just too large and the tire would not dig deep in snow for more grip. So on deep snow, on regular size sedans, the grip is average. On the heavier trucks and SUVs it's going to be a great all around tire. Reasonable good in slush even at speed, little floating, reasonably good on ice for a non studded tire. Not noisy at speed on dry. Good wear. For those who need more grip on deep snow, I suggest the Toyo G3-ICE it has more spacing between the bocks so it will dig better in snow and slush

Great article Zack - I just wish insurance companies would assist in getting people on winter rubber by lowering the insurance rates. I just purchased a set of tires and wheels for my new car and darn they don't come cheap, however when I was able to stop almost on a dime I knew it was worth the investment.

Hi there, I have read a number of rather bad reviews on this tyres lack of performance in the wet and snow. Do you believe that to be the case ? On one website, the first three reviewers crucified the tyre ! I was set to buy these but that decision is on hold. THanks !

I wish more people would pay attention to this type of info...the term "All Season Tires" was coined in the southern States and really don't encompass a real winter driving condition...the All Season Tires that come on new vehicles are really only a three season tire. My other pet peeve is that daytime driving lights don't turn any lighting on for the rear of the vehicle, which doesn't seem that big until you are in foggy conditions in a vehicle with automatic lighting...turn on the lights!!

    • @Peppermint1
      @Peppermint1 2 роки тому

The Toyo Go-2 were one of the best winter tires on the market, other than the Nokian. Toyo used a lot of natural rubber on those tires, with excellent grip in deep snow - basically impossible to loose grip. However, since then the price of the natural rubber exploded so now tires are less flexible in cold weather and have less grip. No modern tire comes close to the Go-2 except for some higher end Nokians (yes, not even the Michelin or Blizzak)

god i hate when people use Technology on a spoon... maybe there is some technology that can improve the tire or do the math on patterns.
but whats on the tire has no technology on it Tech as in electronical.
they use this term in house hold spray...fancy words becuse improved is way to hard to say.
