Please don't take my bantering too seriously. I grew up going to Walmart every month with my mom. This Finnish version (Prisma) look like it was design by a billionaire that wanted it to be the place old people go to do their shopping. It has a cemetery kind of vibe (atmosphere), with a lot of space. I could see myself go there and slowly moving my cart for 3 hours and still be there, lol! I'm an introvert but I like went groceries is a little chaotic!

Finns are often practical, systematic and prefer order and cleanliness. Everything should work well, but not necessarily flawlessly, thinking of perfectionists, but still work as it should and not only partially, otherwise there is a flaw and it needs to be fixed. 😂

this guy was propably there very early in the morning lookin at the meat section for example..... most people would be sleepin or going to school or work or something
This store is in Jyväskylä, Finnish city of 150,000 people and it is the regional capital of Central Finland with a total population of 275,000 people.
Finns prefer personal space and silence is golden. People are just minding their own business and not bothering others, but people are still willing to help if needed.
Those are self-scanning machines you can scan your items, and pay at a self-checkout.
A small note: Prisma has nothing to do with Walmart. You didn’t say it has, but just to make it clear, there’s no Walmart in Finland.
Oh, I know. I just read a comment below the original video. It doesn't quite look like a Walmart. Walmart tend to be very crowded with things everywhere. Prisma look like a hotel lobby! :)

UA-cam just recommended your channel and nice to hear your comparisons to Thailand. I just wanted to comment from my Finnish perspective. In Finland we value order, cleanliness, silence, punctuality, reliability, privacy, so this Prisma is exactly how we want it. The things should be easy to find, because most customers just want to get what they need and get out quickly. We don't like to hang around. There is a lot of space, so that it's easier to drive stuff to the shelves. And we have a small population and this is a big store outside rush hour, so it's quite empty. Also, many of these big supermarkets are open 24/7, so the customers are more spread out to all hours of the day. People have different cultures and different personalities, and I hate chaos and messiness so your house is way too messy for me (and probably for most Finns). Have a good day!

I feel a weird sense of comfort in not having the house pristine clean. Well, it's way too messy, that's a sure thing, but I think I would be stress out having everything at the exact correct place. Now, the irony is that I still like to have an "organized messiness". It's hard to explain, lol! But yeah thx for understanding that I'm just bantering.
All the food stores are clean and tidy in every Nordic country.
Tiose things you were curious about are self-scanners. We have the same method in Sweden in different stores so if you're not in the mood for paying in a "normal" cashiering with human co tact you can take this scanner instead, go about and scan your groceries and go to the self checkout.. very convenient for introverts haha. And often quicker than regular cashier stands :-)
Woah! Didn't think of that because that would never be a thing in Canada or Thailand, lol! Finland trust their citizens.

Same with our trollys/shoppingcarts at supermarkets. Some uses a coin to put into the cart but you'll get it back once you done but some are free from it. We don't leave the carts all over the place/parking lots. :)

Nice reaction! 😃I just visited the same store four hours ago as I was on my night walk with my backpack. I bought fresh rawit chili, instant noodels, garlic, Polish apples and rye bread. This is my favorite store. I can find almost everything I need from there. I like to go there late at night when there are fewer people. They are open till 12 at night.
Till 12, great. In Thailand, all close around 9-10pm.
In Finland we don’t use dollars, we use euros.
What reads on the screen is " you are one step closer to easier to be a customer. Please show (or use) your bonus card to begin". It doesn't always translate well but roughly it's that....to get membership and use your card for benefits.
Well, if you make an average about $500 / month, it might be expensive. And the Nordic Countries are more expensive. In the afternoon the Prisma is packet/ full of people but if you go like 7 am, it is empty and the children are going to school.
