Thanks Rohan! I just got this smoky lavender done last week, so I'm going to keep up with this for a bit! It's a bit dark right now but as I wash it, it should lighten into a really super cool silvery lavender.
Nice review. You and Modern Man are my favorite reviewers, so it's nice to see you do an honest reliable review of his collab. What length and style of hair would you recommend this product for?
Thanks so much Jason! Honestly this product is very versatile so I think it would work for several hair lengths. I could see it working nicely for anywhere from short to medium-long like mine (about 6 inches) to even longer for those folks who do big pomps.
Miss the pink hair! But still lookin hella good my guy! Hey what would you say is the best product you’ve used that gets softer in your hair as the day goes on? I’ve got pretty dry hair, and I get that tangled ends feeling a shit ton especially with my hair being so long. Any products you’d recommend to sorta combat this and still gives good texture? Great video again and faint wait to see more!
I kinda do too haha, I really enjoyed the pink! I’m sure it’ll be back eventually 😉 And I feel you, that’s the same problem I have with a lot of really matte products. I’d def recommend Fuertes Clay - it applies like butter and as long as you don’t use too much, stays a nice matte/natural finish with great texture and makes the hair feel sooooo soft.
TDM Style TDM Style haha hell yeah! I mean with how many times you change your hair, I’d say you’re pullin off all the colors 😜 thanks for the reply! Yeah fuertes clay looks really good, I was also thinking trents th1, or firsthand texturing clay, cause they all seem to do a good job of keeping the hair healthy and not drying up. I’ll have to roll the dice on them or something 😂
Yeah they're all good choices! Actually and Northern Lights from Shear Revival does a nice job of it also. I think my favorite of the lot though is still Fuertes.
TDM Style fuertes gets the seal of approval from Matt huh 😜 haha well sweet, I think I’ll give them a try then, cause so far all other products dry up so if this feels pliable then I’ll be good! Thanks again!
Great review. Would you say it behaves almost like a pomade in the way it allows you to sculpt your hair? Looking for something with the ease of use of a pomade but without the shine. Thanks
@@TDMStyle thanks for the reply, will look to get my hands on it. wanting to go for a finger combed look as opposed to a neat slick look so some shine should be ok. Keep up the great work.
Nah they are very different. Pre Game for me has a smoother/slicker application, starts out feeling like a medium weight wax with a natural shine and then transforms to be super matte and very light. Phantasm has a similar hold and pliability level, but stickier application and maintains the shine all day.
@@TDMStyle dude that’s awesome to get a reply lol. Yeah I emailed them. The crazy thing is I bought the Kermit and magician like a year ago and they were super rough to deal and not at all like the UA-cam reviews. I do love the smell of this one though, I almost just wanna smell the thing all day even if I can’t apply it to my hair!
nice video matt. Can you try out nak done n dirty hard clay? its priced really well at 15 euros in my country with 90 ml and contains kaolin Carnauba Wax, Lanolin, Glycerin, Bio-Marine Complex. etc
hey bro, I have a question. Recently, I got a haircut and after the haircut, I am not able to achieve the kind of volume I use to get. I kinda get the slick back look with little bit of volume. I am using dove paste as pre and post styler. What can be issue in your opinion
I've never used Dove paste, but if you didn't cut the top at all, it might just be getting a bit thick and thus adding more weight. That happens to me as my hair gets longer - you could always ask your stylist to go in with some texturizing shears to thin it out a bit and reduce the weight so you can get more volume.
Looks like a great product for people who like shine.. Way too much shine for my taste. The stickmore styling cream is what I love. That stuff is matte, adds volume, thickness and crazy hold.
@@TheJoshuaPaulI like that scent, it kinda dies down though once applied. It's ok 🙂 I just love that matte finish, volume and thickening effect. I have the Arcadian matte paste too, it's good too, but the hold of stickmore styling cream is much stronger.
@@tamasmenyhart8483 I haven't used their styling creme, just the clay fiber... I'm thinking Fatboy, Stickmore paste, or Nevermore for my next product.. can't decide! Just got Northern Lights and LOVE it. Thought about the Arcadian paste but heard the hold isn't as good as the other products mentioned..
@@TheJoshuaPaul oh I see, yes I haven't used their clay fiber. I heard that the stickmore styling cream has a bit of a lighter sweeter scent than their stickmore, so it seems like the scent was toned down a notch on the styling cream. Well if you like a matte finish, super hold, you'll love their styling cream! Really good! Yeah, everyone was saying Arcadian has crazy hold.. Not sure why they it's more of a medium hold.. Fatboy seems good too, haven't tried it yet. Also the Templeton tonics Oasis Clay is apparently really good.. Ah man, Never tried northern light but been wanting big time. They say gray ghost is a bit stronger than their matte paste. But the matte paste is a slightly more matte than gray ghost. Which one did you get?
Those 3 products are all completely, vastly different from one another so you can't really compare them. Choosing one of those 3 would just depend on what exactly you are looking for in terms of finish, texture, etc..
They all have a strong hold. It's really a question of what you want for finish and texture and feel. Nevermore is a matte paste so it's dry, lightweight, with a clay texture. Phantasm is a waxy cream pomade like thing, so it has a finer texture, with some shine finish and a heavier, waxier feel. Cavalier is a heavy clay so it has more of a natural finish, a heavy feel in the hair and for me gets greasy af later in the day.
The clay pomade is verrrry different from this. UWB is more comparable, though I feel Phantasm settles to be softer in the hair as it sets, and has a bit more shine.
@@TDMStyle thanks matt! I love the FHS Uwb a lot so i think im gonna like this one. If the phantasm's settling or hardening factor is lesser than fhs', then im sold
Unfortunately that’s just how shine products tend to look in my hair which is why I don’t use them often. I can say for sure though that the A87 clay was very oily/greasy while this does not feel that way at all.
Watching your videos is worth it for the scent reactions alone
😂 Thanks!
Great video as always. Also, what color are you going to dye your hair next?

As always Matt top notch review 🔥🔥
Can't wait to pick up a jar when it's available.!
Thank you kindly!

I'm here over a year later to say I watched Your review, bought the product and it's awesome😍
Glad you like it!
7:02 You look really good in purple/blushish hues. It compliments your skin tone.
Thanks Roland!
Great as always Matt. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great review as always. but I dont see how this product will give me anything different then what I already have . thanks

Yo Matt, that towel dried style actually looks pretty damn nice. Throw in a bit of product for a textured fringe and boom.
Thanks Justus!
How does it compare to pre game by the salon guy? To me the finish seems the same, as does the shine level and hold and the pliability

Damn, that curly style is not that bad! :D
Haha thanks!
Is stronger than nevermore matte paste.....hoping a feedback!
The New tattoo looks g!
Thanks Charles! I love it!!
Just out of curiosity but what product would you compare Nevermore too? Matte and endurance wise?
Hard to say, Nevermore really is quite unique.
On a Scale of 1 to 10 how much tug and pull did you get when styling because Im not a big fan of a lot of tug.
It's not that bad, maybe like a 3.
Thank you for answering
I'm not that into hairstyling but you got some quality videos. Already subscribed ❤️👍
I appreciate the support!
Just bought this based on this video review. It came and it was as hard as a rock. Not creamy at all.
Odd. I'd get in touch with Lockharts, unless they reformulated, it shouldn't be like that. Likely Steve will send you a replacement.

Nevermore was bad, I don’t think it’s word the premium tag, will give this a shot, Lockhart have great products
I actually really liked Nevermore. I don't consider Lockhart's prices to be "premium" level - I'd say $30 and up fall into that category, imo.

Bro try it as a prestyler u will love it
which one can hold thick hair better?this one or the nevermore?
Both have good hold. It’s more a question of whether you want a matte, clay-like texture or a low/med shine waxy texture.
Hi Could you tell me whats the strongest hold thing youve tried thats not as shiny as gel thanks
Crafted matte paste from Flagship x TheSalonGuy and Oasis clay from Templeton Tonics!
Interesting how it works with fine hair
