Great video!!! I have been making glass flowers for about 10 years, but never dared drill through glass. I will practice on an old plate and then take the plunge with the "projects" I have lined up this spring.

does anyone have a suggestion for a different glue ? I have used E6000 and clear gorilla glue, they don't hold for long.

I have used white JB weld 2 part epoxy. JB weld is great stuff and it adheres to anything. The one I am using has screw caps on each tube so you can use a small amount and it still stays fresh. You do have to mix equal amounts of the two parts together which is pretty easy. I hope this helps.

JB WELD EPOXY BONDS METAL AND GLASS MORE PERMANENTLY. IF YOU USE SILICONE, YOU WILL NEED MARINE SILICONE IN THE ARCTIC LIKE ME. IT KEEPS IT'S BOND DURING THE WINTER.

You could put a square of tape over where you're going to drill also to ensure it doesn't crack. Love the ideas.

Put tape on the back where you are drilling through. Won't chip as much or at all. Tile works this way too.

Might want to add that wearing safety glasses should be worn to help prevent shards of glass getting into eyes. If the dish is completely immersed in water while drilling it may not as much of an issue but they way you are doing it increases the risk of shards getting into your eye. (--:>

We've created about 25 glass flowers, and have used silicone for each - we've never had to do any drilling. As long as you choose your glass items carefully (e.g. flat bottoms), you can avoid drilling. We've also used pvc pipe and glass salad dressing bottles and glass pudding cups as "holders" on the bottom of the cup/saucer bird feeders. They seem to be pretty durable so far. I haven't seen the spoon idea before, so I'm definitely adding that to my next batch. I have found all the glass, cups, saucers, bowls at Savers for under $2 each as well. This is such a rewarding project - it is fun to do, and then we get to watch all the bird activity. Thank you!

I have never had to drill at an angle, also silicone glue helps to keep the glass from moving and a pipe bender also helps for positioning the flower at angles

I like your channel thus subscribe. I am going for the teacup birdfeeder with the spindle. However one thing I would like to make note of and that's Goodwill stores often have rather valuable items that are sold for pennies compared to their worth and that applies to vintage dishes as an example. I once purchase a set of serving spoons for less than ten dollars and they were worth, at that time, 150.00 and today the are even more expensive. I would urge crafters to use dollar store dishes and please, not purchase vintage dishes for outdoor garden art. Just as someone gave such items away not knowing their worth, and someone priced such items for sale, not realizing what the product was, placing beautiful vintage pieces in a garden will destroy them.

Lori Alfred, I must agree! It's amazing some of the items one can buy at the dollar store. Your comment made me realize that includes bird seed. Your are creative. Keep it up! Thank you for responding,
