This interview was the highlight of the festival for me. Nice to have some of Ted's other books brought back onto my radar. I have a couple of them on the way right now, which I'm sure will take away some of the sting of having to push pause on some adventures during quarantine!
Ted Simon is the Greatest. As you said, "... he [probably - sic] inspired more riders to take adventure trips", whether around the world or even local weekend adventures than anyone else. I also particularly like his comments when talking about the Middle East. It reminded me of a quote from Samuel L Clemens (better known as Mark Twain) who said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” Keep having adventures and keep writing, Mr. Simon.
I read Jupiter's Travels years ago, and has inspired me to ride outside my comfort zone of riding around the north circular in London UK. Now living in Australia since 1979 and have been to many motorcycle rallies around Australia including Haley's Comet Rally in Alice springs and Alpine Rally in the snowies, tours in Vietnam Thailand and India and looking forward to trip in the Himalayas on an Enfield. As Ted says in his interview riding a bike is not just a means of transport but a way of life where you become at one with the bike, as well as an un-paralleled connection with nature, and people in their environment. Thanks Mr Simon
Fantastic event, and great speakers throughout. Had the pleasure of hearing Ted Simon at previous events and he's such a great guy. Looking forward to the first film night this month.
Congratulations Ethan!! You're the winner of the Overland ticket for this years event!! 😁👍. Message us on Facebook if you can for details on how to claim your prize!
