Great edition of top of the pops with the amazing Jonny hates jazz and the housemartins and me and the fame and the amazing chlif Richard and rick Astley
I used to play rugby with the bloke who owned the field where the Housemartins filmed some of this songs video in.The field near Cherry Burton, just outside Beverley and about 8 miles from Hull.
@@RichardUpton he certainly did but you needed a phrase book to understand him speak. He obviously saw the money rather than the irony of his trade. I still pass the field 3 times a week when going to work. But I was a 13 year old with a crucifix shaved into my head 😀👍
@@Conquistador75 I can’t imagine he would have retired on the money received, but that plus the memory is a nice combination 😊 Can’t imagine many 13 year olds, or anyone, with a crucifix shaved into their hair 😳
September 87..just get to the dorm as a Freshmen and my new roommate asks me if I want to watch Squeeze videos with him as he pulls out the VHS tape from his backpack. One of the coolest people I would meet in 4 years at that dump. Its the little things people. Be thankful for them. We arent getting them back.
Thank you for loading that of top of the pops from 3 September 1987 after a BBC four not showing after a presenter Mike Smith refused to signed a contract with the BBC
Weird seeing Jools Holland with Squeeze at the start. Hadn't he started to distance himself from them at that point? Also: you forget how savage Mike Smith was back in the day.
Mike Smith could actually be quite funny - which made it a shame that his episodes were not shown. Must have been the latter days of Jools with Squeeze as he still had his presenting gigs at the time
Have you got the 5th November 1987 show as ir was uploaded by due to copyright issues it not active and playable on your youtube site Richard Upton Try again if possible 🎤🎵🎶🎧🎸🎹 Thanks
How what have I done to deserve this didn't get to number 1 baffles me.
It was a really good track and deserved to get to number one
Just FAR better music !!!....Take me back! .. Love all 80's 👍🏽🎶🕺🏽
My all time favourite year. Take me back!

@@Conquistador75 great stuff and he’s helped to create a little bit of music history by having the House Martin’s film there

You’re welcome and at least the days of top of the tops not being repeated are past us now
@@RichardUpton did you watch top of the pops 90 the other day? It's a shame it was repeated 🤦♂️
@@bendover9663 not seen any for a couple of weeks now due to the snooker last Friday. The last episodes shown were pretty poor
Excellent upload Richard!
SettingSon79 you’re welcome and I’m glad you enjoyed it

Squeeze's song Hour Glass. With the group was that a young Jules Holland . Sorry for the spelling 😎

Just replayed it and think it’s the intro for the Squeeze song?

BBC4 skipped the fortnight with Marrs and Karel Fialka Depeche Mode Mick Jagger and Pseudo Echo. Odd.
Yes very much so too. Its a real shame that bbc four did not show some such as here with Mike Smith so too. Odd indeed.
No one find it odd and it has only just hit me, the Queen has died and I haven't heard a word from Cliff. One of her personal friends.
Ah, the eleventh hour before all the trash of the late eighties, house, saw, and jason and kylie drivel...
😂I actually didn’t mind late 80’s house music. The rest I agree with!
@@RichardUpton yeah ok yazz and lusa stansfeld was good....but pump up the volume and jiv bunny was sheer crap.
@@antejl7925 well, i like those both but can perfectly understand your opinion 🙂
Stock, Aitken, and Waterman did their best to kill music with their one tune fits all philosophy.
@@scottw.3258 you could definitely argue that they used a template to copy and paste
johny hates jazz
How on esrth did the gousemartins get on TOTP. SHOCKING
why did a lot of 80s band members dress like yuppies?
There was certainly a lot of office wear on display at the time
It was 1987. Around the time of the stock market boom.
How has Cliff got away with it for so long
Talent! And you?
1987.
Shoulder pads and stupid hair!
I’ve just been Rick-rolled.
