    The writing as grace notes is musically much clearer than having 32th or whatever. Thank you for the video.

    Crazy how no one taught me this in X amounts of classical and (some) jazz tuition! Been gigging for 6 months now and thought that there had to be some reason other than learnt licks that other players sounded smoother. Thought to search UA-cam for Grace notes and this was one of the videos I found. Fantastic resource thank you!

    Hi Nigel, there is a great sax solo of Wilton Felder on the track with Bobby Womack ( No matter how high I get ) some great vocals too.

    The music is not my style, but great tips on grace notes. I usually just put them where I think and now I know why I put them there.

      Thanks for watching Geoff. We can learn loads even from styles we aren’t necessarily into.

    That was fantastic Nigel, but could you do some easy lessons in Sax School on grace notes please.

      Hey Zabelle, actually there are a few of easier lessons with grace notes. Try the “Smooth Operator” lesson.

    Hi NIgel, writing it as grace notes is more readable than using semiquavers.

    Are Grace Notes played by tonguing and/or by slurring with finger ?

    • @McGillMusicSaxSchool
      @McGillMusicSaxSchool  2 роки тому +1

      Great question Gary. I usually tongue the grace note and slur to the target note.

    Nigel, in certain situations could a 'scoop' up or down be used in place of a grace note ?

    • @McGillMusicSaxSchool
      @McGillMusicSaxSchool  2 роки тому

      Could do, depends on the style of the piece and the note. Great question!

    Awesome Nigel! I was trying to look for the transcription to this solo in the sax school locker but it is not available. Any idea when it will be available for download? Thanks for the great videos!! 🎷

      @@McGillMusicSaxSchool I used it on my “Man Who Sold the World” video. But not in the habit of using it on scales.
