- Before Microchip acquired Atmel it was a chore to program ATMEGA chips like the '328P found on the Arduino UNO in C on Mac or Linux. But now that MPLAB X supports the 8-bit ATMEGAs you can program them easily on Mac, Windows or Linux. Here, I step you through the basic steps of looking over the datasheet, identifying a digital pin of interest and using MPLAB X's built-in debugging and simulation tools to ensure that your program is going to work like you intended, without guessing.

Hola! Gracias! Thank you for the comment. The first few videos will be simulation only as I want to explore the debugging and documentation tools first. I will eventually use the debuggers (PIC KIT 4, I think) and show examples with that.
@@onnimikki2007 I was wondering if you got around to making those examples with PICkit4. I am trying to program an ATMEGA and keep getting the following error:
Data transmission failed. Error code -112 returned while trying to send USB data.
A communication error with the debug tool has occurred. The tool will be reset and should re-enumerate shortly.
Connection Failed.

Did you try to program ATmega328 with MPLAB X and then insert ready to run MCU in Arduino board? Is any issue?

Which compiler is used for ATMEGA328p ? As the R/Y/G datasheet on MPLAB X IDE shows, none of the compiler support ATMEGA328P MC's !!!
