@@MagzGTV There is an insane amount of new content with this mod. I have not been able to sift through it all just yet. The surface combat is very interesting though. Attacking convoys in a Kirov class cruiser is just plain fun! You mentioned it in your video. The main issue is the translation but I am sure this will be fixed eventually. Well I was not expecting to see the UUM-125A in the game. I would expect the B with its MK50 torpedo, but not the A with its 200Kt W89 nuclear warhead.
@@raw1175 water is incompressible and nuclear warheads generate huge pressure waves which are what cause the majority of direct damage from a nuclear detonation. So a massive pressure wave in an incompressible medium would absolutely annihilate anything compressable in it. Especially submarines since theyre immersed in said medium and not just floating on top like other ships are.
Excellent video. Is there a dumbed-down video of installation of Epic Mod into Cold Waters Steam edition? I have a Playable Subs modded Steam version and tried for the third time this weekend and was unable to complete the upgrade to Epic Mod. It’s the English vs Cyrillic-Russian text segments in the mod chooser that screws me up every time. I’ve been playing Epic Mod in Russian for almost a year so and about 4 years on regular Cold Waters so I know what’s changed and I love what they’ve done with the mod. If anyone has a good lead or tip on this it would be appreciated. Thank you.
Just drag the files to the game directory, then launch that Epic Mod exe, then there are arrows in the menu, select "Main mod" and click on arrow directing towards right side, and then it will install slowly, don't freak out that your Menu has hanged, it is just moving the files.

For the love of god how do you get the control panels to stack like that in the recent patch/fixes of this mod? I cant get them to save my life and thats almost mandatory considering the upped difficulty in this mod lol. I had it before, but deleted the game for space and since i re-downloaded it and the mod (with the most recent "fix" - which also auto installs and doesnt have an install program where you can enable certain mods like before so basically a-d Hud files transfer over) I cant get Hud options.

I love the mod overall. I feel like evading MK48 torpedoes is near impossible- they dont respond to noisemakers or knuckles all in my experience and are extremely maneuverable. I have been trying maneuvering sooner, or waiting till last moment and changing depth and direction but always get smacked. Does anyone have any advice?
Wait, so are your countermeasures less effective against unguided enemy torps as well? I'd understand if just wire-guided torps were much harder to shake, but automatic ones as well? Feels a bit game-y and BS if you have to fight much more effective countermeasures, with yours comparatively sucking.
It's more the torpedo logic has been improved to the torps are a bit smarter and dog you harder. As a result, you cant just shit out a countermeasure and have 10 torps following you immediately turn away and lose you, now you'll have to work a little harder if you stir up the soup.
Go to the epic mod installer in your cold waters directory and start it up there you can see 3 optional mods on the left side one of those is the original visibility
Yeah, just generally setting your microphone volume higher would be helpful, Magz! Your voice is getting kind of drowned out by the (excellent) sounds of the game.

The AI seems much better in this mod and actually maneuvers correctly, instead of say, turning towards the torpedo without changing depth in vanilla.

Especially Japanese torpedo boats
Trawlers drag fishing nets under the water behind them. A submarine shouldn't go near a trawler.

You should try 1968 campaign with an SSK like the Romeo. It is phenomenal! It is a mix between ww2 tactics and normal sub operation.
I haven't played a sub game since Red Storm Rising on the c64! So many great childhood memories with that machine, I think I'll try this

How to get that original visibility? The panels just simply cover up my last 4 tubes.

Your take on the difficulty I found to be completely wrong, with epicmod I found the game soooooooooooooooooooo much easier.
