There are many theories but here's the one I go with: A guy named Simon sails a boat to Hawaii. There, he meets a girl and they hang out. One day while they're out, he walks away for a little bit and someone kills her. He comes back to see the remains as the police arrive. Since he was the only person there, he can plead innocent because there's so much stacked against him. So his only other option is to plead insanity. He's sent to "The Infirmary" where he gets electro shock therapy. He then goes actually insane from that. He them wonders what it would be like if he went back to the way things were, like with a time machine. After all that therapy, he attempts to sail a boat back home. On the way, however, he ends up starving to death and getting eaten by a whale. He then meets the girl in heaven the end.
the mind electric scratches my brain just right, i see this and listen to it, and its unscratched immediately that makes no fuckin sense to probably anyone but alas

Also first.
This song is old, OLD, and I remember having all the theories about this song. But now with the release of Mind Electric, I'm 99% positive this song is about mental illness, insanity, and most importantly electric shock therapy, which is done by sending shocks through a patient's brain. The opening is of course the trial where Simon pleads insanity, and asks for his mind to be mended. Lots of comments of what sounds like a demented torture session, lightning striking his temples. "Doctor I can't tell if I'm not me" is easily the most impactful line of the entire track, as altering someone's brain chemistry really does beg the question afterwards if the person who comes out of that session is the same person or not. I'm sorry for everything you've been through, that must have been awful.
Don't listen to The Mind Electric then
Sorry you had to go through that :( I hope and pray you're doing better
You’ve comment this multiple times on separate mind electric videos. 🤥

This feels like listening to TME from a different universe.
This music tastes like a justice system
This music smells like birthday candle smoke
I keep my opinion
YES. JUST YES.
why am i getting christmas vibes from this song
i grew up with this version so the mind electric sounds weird to me! i couldn't find this anywhere! thank YOUUUU
How did you grow up with this?
@@insectoid_creature i listened to it often as a tween lol...
same. i thought i was the only one lol.
I love tally hall but my ears can’t handle this it hurt
This song always makes me so 😟. But it’s still somehow so beautiful
why is marvin just everywhere? he runs a museum and is a judge? he also went onto a stage of time? who is this guy? wtf is even a stage of time?
Stage of time is a seventeen
What a time machine
Marvin is the owner of Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum
By this logic, ruller of everything, I guess.
Is it just me or does the “doctor I can’t tell if I’m not me” sound so much better and genuine like I listened to it 10 times and I’m crying
i love this demo so much
so that’s how the mind electric is so good
Ah yes the Mind without Electric
I hate and love at the same time that little build up at the end that feels so intimidating but just cuts to really calm and quiet music. It gives me chills.
Hi
Holding back the overstimulation
its like listening to an au verision of The Mind Electric-
It was actually originally meant to be in the album Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum!
Chonny Jash but not Chonny Jash
Resident Simon, how do you plead
We'll need your testimony on the stand
Solemnly swear to summon your story
Tell the truth and raise your right hand
Resident Marvin, let me explain
My brain has claimed its glory over me
I've a good heart, I may be insane
Please mend my mind and let me go free
All my towers crumble down
The flowers gasping under rubble
Shouting in the hall of lull
My demons quench my thirst for trouble
Scattering sparks of thought energy
Deliver me and carry me away
Here in my kingdom, I am your lord
I order you to cower and pray
All my monks were chanting as
The lightning struck my temples
And electric shocks destructed places
Said they read it on my face
And swirling down your majesty
I beg of thee have mercy on me
I was just a boy you see
I beg of thee have sympathy for me
See how the serfs work the ground
And they give it all they've got (x3)
Till they're down (ha ha ha ha)
See how the brain plays around
And you fall inside a hole
You couldn't see
And you fall inside a hole inside a
Someone help me
Understand what's going on inside my mind
Doctor I can't tell if I'm not me
When it grows light the particles
Start to marvel how they made it through the night
Never they ponder whether electric
Calming if you look at it right
The way the lyrics slow down at the part where he said “I can’t tell if I’m not me” kinda like- freaked me out a bit. It made it seem so much creepier
"see how the brain plays around" is so much better in TME😭
is this before joe hawley owned a thesaurus
Maybe
I can't stop thinking about Simon Henriksson from Cry Of Fear 😭
Good job joe
This sounds like a good band made of young lads decided to make a parody, sounding more goofy since they are giving it all they've got.
this whole song gives me chills
Literally, especially during the little hums.
The mind electric on a budget
demo 4 gets Best Demo Award
I’m glad they didn’t use this for Marvin’s album as it fits so well with the theme of Hawaii part 2.
This is hilarious.
Sounds so comedic for no reason.

Virgin The mind electric vs Chad Inside the mind of Simon
Chad inside the mind of simon is better
1:41 It's not noticeable here, but if you listen, you can like the chorus of the voice, which is more confident, arrogant, professional and "watery", I really like it.
*all about joe:*
*the man who goes crazy*
*eeeeeeeee*
*my man chill*
*dude be shut up of the yes*
This is a Demo or draft version of what will become part of Joe Hawley’s original album Miracle Music.
The song that uses this demo as a starting point being named The Mind Electric.
UA-cam decided to put Banana Man next to this song, and you can'r convince me that it was not deliberate
The demonic bohemian's rhapsody
the angelic bahamian rap city.
Mind electric without any electric
I like this better than the Mind Electric tbh
Wow this feels very dull compare to The Mind Electric
Kill me but this version is better
I mean 1:20 is heaven
It is a demo I guess
It’s better
It's just a demo. The Mind Electric actually has several early demos with different lyrics and stuff, which you can hear on the full deluxe version of Hawaii Part II.
1:04 reddit on my face
I cant sop thinking of simon petrekov from advenute tine now
Nice, thanks
