One of the greatest villains to come into a territory, work his way though all the jobbers, then destroy the mid carders. Then he would take on the champion of the territory and after several matches leave and return a year or two later. This was a much better and believable way of managing a wrestling territory.

@@iang8169 From what I have gleaned from some forums Barnett ran the promotion in a very particular way. He had good (perhaps the best) contacts in the US, and he had a local underworld financier so could bankroll a lot of talent at top wages. He operated out of Kings Cross in the 60s and 70s, that sort of business environment. Once upon a time back in the US a wrestler got very popular and somehow took the territory from Barnett. You can imagine Milano doing a run in during the main event and getting some revenge in front of his many fans Kolony and then Miller and O'Dea seem to have run the promotion really well after that, especially not having the money behind them that Barnett had. It's not just nostalgia, watching the 1974-78 stuff it is almost always really good and sometimes great, like Miller v Brannigan. If it wasn't for Kerry Packer's breakaway cricket competition taking the TV slot it would have kept going strong for some time, although perhaps best it went out still in top form and running well, no decline or decay Ron Miller and Larry O'Dea had to go to the US in 1972 to get the push they couldn't get in Australia.
