I definitely prefer the new design but the old one fits into the theme that you're building the saber from scrap metal
I agree. I like the set, but some of the parts feel a little too flashy for a jedi
I was just rlly attached to what I was going to build but didn’t have enough to go to Disney world and now it’s changed

The build experience was so memorable and I’m so glad I did it. I love how my Elemental Nature build turned out. If the new Elemental Nature is stunning, maybe I’d do it again.
While I like the new design I’m really glad I got the first version of protection and defense this October. I love the Old Republic style.
Exactly the same, finally got the chance to go to Disney World this October and just adore the old designs and the scratches and bumps, whilst the new ones are lovely they feel too perfect. That being a said the Peace and Justice ones look cooler!
For me, I prefer the High Republic style better. Now I just need to figure out when I can go to Disney next. Really glad these new ones are coming out too-when I went in late July 2022, they were out of parts on just about everything. I chose, sadly, to cancel my appointment-I could not see myself building a saber with duplicate parts on both sleeves.

It depends I have basically the same saber. One of my sleeves is ot by a quarter turn because the threading didn't get cut in all the way. It was originally out by a half but it bit in a little more. I feel like I'm going to strip it if a force it more.

I’m gonna be honest, I was thinking earlier today at work: “y’know, I haven’t seen any of SirJames’ videos in a while.” And boom. First suggested video on YT😂
Interesting tid bit: the engraving is in ur-kittât, which was the Sith Runes from The Rise of Skywalker, and translated says "Force Wielder"; the same as it says on the carrying bag in Aurabesh.
When I built my lightsaber, the resident Scavenger running the show asked me to come back and translate the engraving on the protection and defense saber if I could find out what language it was in; guess I’ll have two reasons to go back now 😁
@@twaccital1966 It's only on the new hilts, the old ones the engraving looked more like labyrinths.
I'll forever be gutted that i missed this wonderful experience because of the App and Websites not working properly, not displaying the calendar at all at first (months prior to my trip to Batuu), then in the weeks prior to the trip the calendar started showing but accessing it was a chore and i always had an issue upon trying to validate a booking. Ultimately the App started working perfectly when i logged in while in Orlando and managed to make a booking for the single day i was visiting Hollywood Studios, only to be told in front of Saavi's Workshop that my reservation was actually for the Los Angeles Park and that Saavi's Workshop in Orlando had been fully booked for a while and there were no last minute cancellations for the day 🥲
I had been looking forward to it for 6 months or more, it was to be the highlight of the trip, so i just stood there crying like a moron, my feet hurting from the blisters i got running all the way from the Park entrance. Being one of the many foreign visitors, it's unfortunately not a trip i can afford every year. Still looking forward the the day i'll go back, maybe this time i'll actually get to build my lightsabre :)
Little late but tip is go to your hardware store and by a o ring I bought 2 and it made stuff Aline perfectly and really recommend 10/10

I just built a nearly identical P&D, except I chose one of the simpler designs for the upper sleeve. I will need to tweak the alignment on mine though, since not one of the pieces lines up with each other. Sigh.
For a collector they may be too expensive, but the whole experience was well worth the money for me as an infrequent guest for a single saber, and the saber does seem to be high quality (other than the alignment issue). I was really surprised by the weight of it.
I got a blue crystal at Savi's, and afterwards I went and bought green, yellow, and red crystals - and managed to snag a black crystal on my first try!

Much appreciated :D By the way, I was immediately drawn to the Protection and Defense build. I love mine :)
I like the look of the new Protection and Defense sabers. Might have to make a trip back to Batuu East to build one! Great Review Sir James! My only gripe is that there is no covertech clip option for the hilt.
Well that's a shame about the old pieces I was going to recreate (to the best of my ability) My lightsaber from Star Wars Jedi fallen order and yes I was going to 3D print the Jaro Tapal emitter but the old protection and defense pieces would have made up my lightsaber idea but I kind of like the new design as well and like a man of culture you went with purple I was going to do that too so your lightsaber is pretty much going to look like mine or vice versa but chances are I'm probably going to alter mine and repaint the silver to be a more pearlescent White because my favorite color scheme is generally pearlescent White iridescent gold and metallic purple or in some cases lighting is usually purple but still I'm glad I stumbled upon this video I'm going to Galaxy's Edge for my birthday in January in about a month so this will be fun.

It's waaaaay too busy! Nowhere for the eye to rest on. This set needed a couple of more plain / clean looking parts.
I love the cleaner and smooth look. Can't wait for my starcruiser and batuu trip in the fall
ive been looking at star wars videos and last month i built a lightsaber, just found this today and saw this, we built the exact same lightsaber hilt!
@SirJamesGamerfuzion Loved this video - went to Savi's and built my first - the elemental and wow!!! What an experience and now with the new items, will have to visit again. Noticed one thing in the silver of your sleeve - where there are for squares...there appears to be hidden Mickey's in each of the square panels with what appears to be wearing a crown. Could just be me but check at about the 8:50 mark in the video...and at 9:414-9:20. You built just a cool saber!
I do like your story concept of Old Republic and High Republic in that the details are more refined and finished in your High Republic saber. GREAT BUILDS and now I am subscribed to see what else you share.
For your money the new one actually looks like a decent prop while the older one frankly looks more like something you'd buy at a hobby store.
I built the same protection and defense, but I bought the yellow crystal and it has become my favorite. It looks so nice and sounds a bit different.
I'll always regret not being able to get the first elemental Nature set.
I think that's really cool that they updated the scrap metal parts to the Galaxy's edge lightsabers and I agree the price nowadays is too high they should lower the price for people who want to make their own lightsaber I myself was lucky enough to build my own lightsaber peace and justice everyone should have the chance to make on of their own and I agree with the fact that they should also sell the parts so that if people want to change their lightsaber they can your video was intriguing and helpful for other people
Can't wait to build this lightsaber on June 8th.

I like these new ones better from what I've seen; I want to go at some point and get one of these. Maybe now that Bob is in charge now prices will change. I haven't been to Disneyland since I was 5 though so I do want to go.
I live in Europe so I've only been to Galaxy's Edge once (Anaheim) qnd they didn't have Protection and Defense. I ended up building Elemental Nature (which I loved!) and thought that I'd have another shot at building an Old Republic lightsaber. Sadly the new one is from the New Republic era and although I like it I am so disappointed I never got to build an Old Republic lightsaber.
I found 1 on Ebay which had exactly the pieces I liked, but it was from the US so shipping costs are to high. Does anyone know how to get the Old Republic one and how long it will still be available?

This design looks a LOT like the graphics design for the story line of the video game "Knights of the Old Republic", Knights of the Fallen Empire with Emperor Valkorion. His armor was very stylized in this same manner. Looks too flashy for a Jedi of the modern era (20 to 50 years BBY) in my opinion.
Some of the parts look good on the new nature one some of them I don’t have it but I seen it
I still have not done the Workshop but I'm very happy I waited I didn't quite like the designs but now these new ones look better but I agree with you it's a little bit pricey for the price they are asking you can buy a Vader lightsaber which is way better mean I rather go that route but since I'm only going to do it one time it's worth the experience but only one time I hope Disney World figures out that price is too much and they go back to 200

If you compare the prices versus buying a decent saber from a vendor (think LGT or Sabertrio), the pricing is actually pretty good.
Disney World is still offering the old style, which I got last week.. Still pretty damn cool though.
One time I took mine (protection and defense) apart to change the Crystal or something, and when I put it back together it didn’t align. I just messed with it by taking it apart and putting it back together a few times and it lined up eventually.

I went yesterday to Disneyland and made this actual lightsaber and was able to get a yellow kiber cristal and place it on mine
It was pretty cool to be the only one with a yellow beam
Also I paid 237 with tax
Also I had no idea you could remove the blade and put it back on without any issues
My family and I are going there at the end of the month! I’m debating on this hilt or the peace and justice
I know they don't offer new/old at the same time.. But it's a bummer that the new isn't the old weathered type of look. Now if you buy scrap to mix and match it looks odd

My OG Protection and Defense lightsaber lines up horribly and is it indeed frustrating. I tried plumber's tape but it doesn't help. Boo. The new Peace and Justice design looks awesome.

I hate having to spend money on adult things like bills because I seriously love that style of lightsaber, both the old and new scrap, and I can't bring myself to pay to either go there or even to build my own saber.

Did they stop selling the scrap metal pieces by themselves? I would only do the whole process again if they completely revamped it. Mine was definitely defective the emitter button stopped working a month in.
They stopped that quite a while ago after Covid + material shortage. But you might have to ask this to ShopDisney's merchandise support.
Kinda annoying, these are so expensive, I can't go buying all new styles on a wim. The new emitter and lower sleeve are very cool.

Is this available at WDW in Orlando? My family and I are going in march next year and the original plan was just magic kingdom because someone we know will be in a parade, but if this is available I might look into it.

I don’t think the alignment issues have been fixed, recently I built this exact light saber and for some reason the top sleeve of the saber is rly loose, the top and bottom are more slanted towards the left from the switch and at night it kept making this noice it would make when putting the crystal in the saber, it super weird
I added some silicon O rings between the pommel and sleeves and the emitter and sleeves and it firmed up the whole saber
They are probably gonna add all the new ones to Jedi Survivor but I hope they keep the old ones too

I was disappointed when my friend went to disney and said she would build a lightsaber for me i gave her a pirnt oit of the old list having no clue they had replaced it so i went and looked on ebay and found most of the pieces i had wanted but actually loved the one she built me as well

There is no orange crystal at SW Galaxy edge
Officially there is no orange kyber crystal to use it. Unless it's made with blade modification(Jaymooplayground) or RFID chip reader.. or something.
Honestly in my opinion I don't think the Disney parks sabers are worth the hassle or price tag, especially when you can go online look up LGT chassis and variable hilt components (VHC). You can still design/build a lightsaber off sites like dark wolf LGT, bul bul's outer rim outlet, Padawan outpost and even saber forge has some VHC compatible pieces that look pretty cool and through the sites you can choose between the LGT standard "xeno-pixel" or the latest proffie neo-pixel board as well as crystal focus 10 (CFX) and some others that I can't recall off the top of my head. Sure the Disney parks sabers look great in their own way, I just don't think there's a way to justify the cost and other expenses for the Savi experience, because the blades are not bright, the colors can appear severely washed out, the electronics are horribly cheap and you have to basically pay micro transactions to get the other colors that you didn't choose initially, you fix every issue by getting the LGT/VHC hilts and if you don't go super crazy you don't pay as much as Savi's and you get something that is superior in quality, with all the things you want from a custom lightsaber, including gesture controls and smooth swing.
When can we buy these?

Still the casting lines, paint runs, muddy details ... pretty poor for a $250 saber when you can get Xenopixel level saber for same money.
Disney's buying / manufacturing power could easily make it for cheaper
I honestly can’t blame Disney for the price hike because of the general state of the economy. Everything’s more expensive and Disney isn’t immune

It takes Disney 6 mill to run the park for one day they make 27 mill in profits a day from everything so why do they need to raise their prices?
Disney is a giant megacorp raking in net profits every day and bullying its smaller competitors. They could lower the price to what it originally was and it wouldn’t make much of a difference to them. They’re just lazy and greedy.

About 10-20 dollars would make sense for a price hike over the span of about 2 years. However they all hiked about 50. That's just greed man.
