El mejor album de Behemoth !!!! probablemente la gira mundial anterior con Morbid Angel y Deicide ayudó mucho a que pudieran parir este album 10/10 sacandolos de la mediocridad técnica anterior. Los ultimos muy buen sonido pero ya han perdido esta esencia.
I know they toured with Deicide in Europe '98. Didn't know they toured with Morbid Angel too...are you sure? Plus...world tour, not really.

Their Best Album! The atmosphere of this album is so dark and obscure, the real essence of BM! Sad though majority of the other 'BM' bands have taken different direction sounding too much commercial and screaming for attention from a new younger public! BM should always be appreciated by few, never to be mainstream! Sad
The "majority", but the vast majority of black metal albums are not popular or commercial in the slightest.
Check Lord Belial - Enter the Moonlight Gate. It doesn't sound commercial to me... Oh yeah, and Batushka - Litourgiya. Batushka is a Polish band.
Batushka not commercial? Yeah right, the fact they had about 25 different shirt designs and 5 or 6 versions of the CD for sale when I saw them tells me otherwise... In fact, Batushka is all about milking the hype.

He never made something similarily good with DB, not to mention Old Mans Child which is mediocre band. I'm not huge fan of Behemoth but this album is their best, most coherent, sharp and aggressive. One has to be deaf to not hear that.

That's the problem of new Behemoth: since they changed to blackened death, their identity has changed a lot (early blackened death metal, cryptic mid-era period, eastern mythological period, death metal period). I think that changing the sound and experimenting constantly with the music shows no respect for the fans who love the existing sound, as Cristiano Borchi (Stormlord) rightly said... If Nergal wanted to change the sound, he should better change the band's name in order to respect the fans of Old Behemoth (I'm a fan of the Old)!!! What Nergal must know, is that if a review on a new Behemoth album is bad, he should not blame his crew for the work (Inferno, Orion, Navy or Havoc), but himself, 'cos he is the leader and main influencer of the band!!!...
Generally, this album is so out of space and time that Galder could reuse the riffs from many songs to create new songs for Old Man's Child and release them in a demo!!
@@emperorsavron-peterdewind0358 but Pancemnic Incantations isn't pompous at all. Few keys passages don't make it pompous. Riffs on this album are sharp, aggressive and so on point! I'm not a fan of Behemoth since Demigod. Their "new" albums are flash over a substance indeed but PI is pure metal meat.

Also, the extremely melodic guitar riffs suggest that the album is way too much for a listener... And that's why I don't like this one!

Dissection (RIP Jon) and Emperor are real standards for contemporary melodic and progressive black or blackened death metal, so if a band includes some influences from those Big Two, it's just a sign of pure excellence.

Demigod, The Apostasy and Evangelion revived the band for a short period of time (mostly Demigod), before the band's death with "the satanist" and "I love you at your darkest"... Behemoth for me is a band that is way so commercial that I don't find any other meaning on its existence...
As a Behemoth fan this is their weakest and most awkward.

On the contrary Grom and Pandemonic Incantations are scandalously underrated, IMHO. But..... there has never been written a book in which has been proscripted what taste is good and what taste is bad, fortunately .....

Well, because I prefer the "Cookie Monster" sound from Behemoth's black metal era (Grom, Pandemic Incantations) a thousand miles above the "woofwafwoofwoof-sound" of Behemoth's death metal era. I'm glad that with Opvs Contra Natvram Behemoth returns a little bit to black metal. P.S. I also dig The Satanist very much.....
Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think this might be their best. I really like the black metal era of behemoth and I feel like here the acoustic guitars, synths are more refined compared to the releases before this. The music is spiced up with more technical and brutal riffing and the vocals are interesting. Not quite the high shrieks from Grom and Sventevith, but also not the lower vocals present on the death metal releases. The atmosphere from the more "pure" black metal albums is still very much present and the death metal elements only add some extra brutality (without sacrificing atmosphere). I feel like on Satanica the ratio changed more to death metal with black metal elements and the music become more brutal (this time with less atmosphere). While I enjoy Pandemonic Incantations musically the most, Grom holds a special place in my heart, as it introduced and got me hooked onto black metal.
