I met Danny in the village NYC in 1976. We hung out before he played a gig. He was a real good person. I got him a job at a coffee house in Chester NJ. We became good friends around the time his mom passed. A true bluesman & great guitarist.

In the 1950s and early 1960s I grew up Directly across the street from Danny Kalb, whose family lived at 55 Ellwood Ave., Mount Vernon, NY on the top floor. Their apartment had an outdoor roof garden fenced in bamboo. I used to deliver The Daily Argus to them. Would visit them weekly. I lived across the street at 41 Ehrbar Avenue, at an apartment complex called Bailey Gardens, so named because it was built on the land of the old Bailey Estate, the Bailey of Barnum and Bailey fame. So sorry to hear that Danny Kalb is gone.

In the 70's Danny and I lived in the same apartment building. We would get together often and play guitar. So glad to see Danny's still playing music. I've played that beautiful old Gibson and it and Danny are still sounding great.

Danny is not only a gifted musician, he's a warm human being. I studied with him in the early 90's and I was going through some tough stuff after losing my business, and I was very sad. He was very helpful and very caring. Keep going Danny, and God Bless

I first saw Danny playing in the spring of '62 in the lefty Mecca of UW in Madison, Wisconsin. This was the heyday of the folk scene and it was instantly obvious he was a major blues talent.

I took him to a band gig audition back then. He finger-picked "Blue Suede Shoes" and blew the auditioner away.

    Danny:
    Maybe you will read this.
I was probably your least adept student in Oakland (~1990).You taught me a lot of the music and abt everything else.I still play the blues but without any style.
I still remember you very clearly,
    Cheers,
    tom
