- The song is performed by Lea Salonga,who portrayed Kim and Robert Sena,who portrayed Thuy at the Miss Saigon production in Manila,in 2000.This is the best quality I could find.

This is honestly one of my favorite scenes in the show, I think it shows the strength but vulnerability of Kim as a whole, Lea portrays it with such power and natural talent.

@@coralroper6876 lots of people who go through war are a bit unstable afterwards, especially when they find out the one thing they've been dreaming of during the war, their last connection to their past, rejects them.

I completely forgot the revival tour came to my city earlier this year... i never got to see the original (was too young) and now I'm even more devastated I missed it once again.
That is some incredible acting and singing by Lea Salonga and Robert Seña. Trivia time: Robert Seña is married to Isay Alvarez, who originated the role of Gigi on the West End. She also played the role of Gigi in the same production shown in this video (Manila, 2000).
Watch her face. Watch her eyes. Quite apart from the music & her vocal performance, that's a powerful piece of acting.

He can be seen to be obsessed with Kim and egotistical towards his own desires. In honoring their parents’ promise, he lost himself and is consumed with his own pride by switching sides from South to North just to have the power to control her. He’s a selfish man to never once considered Kim’s feelings or understood her struggles. All he ever called Kim was “my wife” and a “traitor”, never once viewed her as a woman or, simply, a human being.
Thuy touched Kim's son. This enraged Kim, who punished him severely.

It probably wasn't laughter, when I saw this performed I was able to hear people sobbing in the audience and people just looking away scared.

Agreed! Tbf I like both this and the 25th anniv interpretation of Thuy, but I do prefer Eva over Lea. No disrespect to her, of course, but Eva emotes more (somewhat at the expense of her singing), and vice versa for Lea, which is why I ended up preferring her over the latter
