"Last moment changes" and "leave plenty of time"... Remember the time in my very early cycling days, I adjusted my seat before a casual ride, meaning I had to take the saddle bag off for a bit . About30k into my ride got a flat. Bummer, but thankfully I had a spare tube and a gas canister in my saddle bag, only to realise that I never put it back on. No worries there, as I was going to call my wife to pick me up from wherever I was. Only to realise that I took my phone out of my pocket before leaving because I took a last minute wee.
Thankfully in the next village I came across a couple on their garden, asked them if I could make the call to my wife. To my luck the husband was a cyclist, with all equipment. Helped me mend the flat and was on my way home. That was a really slow ride back home, but the man who helped me was a legend!

Bathrooms? Just ask a Senior they know where all the bathrooms are.
As for charging being a retried photographer I set up a charging station on my desk years ago, I bought a desk top unit that has three regular household plugs and three USB ports and I keep dedicated charging cords in a basket next to it.
I also have a 10k mah power bank I can bring on longer rides ,it has a built in lightning cord on one side and a multi-tip plug cord on the other with micro and USB C so I can recharge my phone , my lights or even my Camera if I bring it along. I picked out a smaller power bank for bicycle trips don't really need the big 30k mah I used to carry in my camera bag, its small enough it will fit into Conor's Bar Bag no problems.
Just a side note on Conor's Bike Bag the GCN crew gives him a hard time about it (Im sure all in fun) but the GCN crew is missing out on something, think of all the things he could carry for you so you don't have to carry that stuff.
I used to do group motorcycle rides and there was one guy who never carried any tools or spares I asked him about it, he told me he didn't need to we all carried those items.

I also do pre-ride dynamic stretching and squat/calf raise warm ups. For me an easy 5-10 minute warmup followed by a few 10-30 second leg openers is necessary. I did three of them in one go, put on a borrowed bib and jersey it was too small for me, drank too much coffee while waiting for everyone to show up at the starting point which was a gas station which has plenty of coffee,, the tight bib put pressure on my bladder when I got into the drops and started getting some speed up, I had to go the bathroom more than usual and as a Senior on a blood pressure med which makes me go to bathroom not a good situation, lessons learned 😊
