idk why they didn't have these before, Claas has had them for light years!

light years is a measure of distance not of time.

Yep...I agree, I would want to see a full hopper of corn, or some type of grain. I do know one thing from experience....had 2 JD combines.....one with rear assist and another with fat rice tires and skinny back wheels....amazing this one went where the rear assist could not go. It never did get stuck (at least I could back out)...the rear assist probably got stuck 6 times in the same area. I really believe that the rear assist makes it more difficult to get out of a mud hole because it is making a deeper rut for the front drive wheels to get out if you have to back out. I always hope that it never gets bad enough to have to mud the crop out, as it is hell to pay next spring.

You thought they would have had the brains to pull the steps up,

Pointless demonstration .If you are harvesting in mud like that to justify tracks, you need a different line of work.

because no company has thought of putting tracks on a combine before...

Also realize the track machine followed in the tracks of the tire combine that broke a path open

Also realize that the tracked combine stopped in the middle of the mud. The one with tires would have gotten stuck even if it went in tracks already made.

Running a tracked combine through the same ruts as a wheeled combine only proves that you can drive in the same ruts. The Wheeled combine cleared a path with the duals and the area that it pushed the mud on its axels. How about a real world test load those empty grain bins and send them through on different lines. You will be pulling both of them out.

I really didn't see a whole hell of a lot of difference.

Yeah, that's what I needed for wheat last year. Would have trashed the field, but the test weight would have been better

That mud can hardly be called mud, in the field the real mud sticks to the tires and tracks and the machine just loses all traction

now run a properly designed machine with tracks on it.. aka the claas 770t.. it wouldnt even sink in that much

Yes because everyone harvests in mud

After burying a 9770 STS in the mud the other night, tracks would be nice for when you aren't quite sure what's ahead of you. Would be some nice insurance

My family owns a John Deere S670 tracked, BUUUT. Not with John Deere expensive tracks. JD tracks cost so freaken much. Go buy another kind of tracks so you can switch off between tires easier and keep tracks on. Only thing I find bad about tracks is that its harder to keep them on the truck trailer for transport without wiggling to much. So we use tires for transport and long distance harvest

All combines should have tracks if there's the slightest chance of mud along there tracks

Its so heavy that if you tried that with a full hopper, it would definitely sink. If I saw a harvester driving through standing water on my farm, I'd kick their ass off my land so fast they'd be leavin their ballcap behind.
