Proud Singaporean here! 🙋♂️
This concert was held at our National Stadium, with close to 60k people in attendance! We love Ed Sheeran and JJ both…!!
And English is one of our official languages, with Mandarin, Malay and Tamil being our other official languages. English is our business language and the main language taught in schools.

Ed and JJ met years ago! There’s a photo of them together, taken back in 2019!
The main language in Singapore is English. We are taught to be bilingual from the moment we’re born, pretty much, because at home our parents speak 2 or more languages. The moment we start school we learn English as well as either Mandarin, Malay or Tamil depending on your race. So if you grab any Singaporean off the streets we can speak at least 2 languages, and some can speak different dialects as well like Cantonese or Hokkien.
As a fan of JJ for 20 years now, I can say he is Singapore’s pride and treasure. This is a dream collab!
Isn’t it true that he mostly works in China tho?! And he introduces himself as Chinese instead of Singaporean? Hope he pays tax to his country, who knows, he might have given up his nationality?!?
@@recuerdos2457 华人vs中国人there’s a major difference. We identify as the race- Chinese and not China Chinese
Best collab Singapore has seen in the history of our national stadium (the concert venue)❤
JJ is Singapore’s darling😊
If only there is one more for THE CONCERT happening in March 😂
@@FT-od4xv haha all 6 shows? 🤩
It will be our wildest dream if it happens but I will have to wait for reaction here as I do not have any tix 😅
@@FT-od4xvJJ resumes his world tour in March so he’s not going to be in Singapore when the time comes!
Yes, Proud Singaporean here too! Wonderful concert and collaboration from 2 most talented singers. Kudos!!!!
JJ Singapore pride! We love both of them!
JJ Lin singing Disney song in Singapore and another to watch is JJ sang with Jason Mraz , I m Yours.😊
Singaporean here as well! Glad to know there are quite a handful of Singaporean supporting this channel ❤
JJ sang Ed Sheeran’s song - thinking out loud at his 2016 concert
JJ是世界級的歌手
Why don't you come to visit Singapore to find out more?
JJ had has a coffee outlet in Martina Bay Sands Art Museum try out his coffee is that same as his voice.Pretty good i have treated.❤❤❤
MIRACLE COFFEE. He will drop by sometime whenever he’s in Spore. Met him once over there. 😬😬😬
Proud Singaporean here too❤ We are proud to have JJ and Stefanie and we still have many outstanding Singer such as Kit Chan, Nathan Hartono too!
Rozette 的少女心爆炸了
I cried when I saw this video. I grew up listening to both Ed Sheeran and JJ Lin, and I am a huge HUGE HUGEEEEE fan of both. Like you said it’s so bizarre seeing two worlds collide but also made me so happy. Two amazing artists and talents. 🩵
oh my, I did not know you've a singaporean in your team, she's speaking legit Singlish there haha
The venue is Singapore’s national stadium. There are between 50 to 60k audience. Bigger than many other stadiums in china
No the biggest stadium is Bird Nest in Beijing 91 000 seats . To date, only a few artists have been able to fill .
That's why the TS said many others, and not all 😉
JJ is a great songwriter too...
JJ & Ed ❤❤❤
OMG commented at random to suggest doing this and didnt know you guys are really reviewing ❤! Thank you 🎉🎉
Do randomly recommend more 😂
Singaporean here too. List of Mandarin singers from Singapore that Rozette has reacted to at least once:
- JJ Lin
- Stephanie Sun
- Kit Chan
- Tanya Chua
Where’s the reaction for Sun Yanzi?
Yes, where can I find Rozette's reaction for Stefanie Sun please?
Yes reaction to Stephanie sun and Tanya Chua pls
Is David Tao from Singapore?
He is from Taiwan@@wayne-ei3xt
Many Singaporean singers debut in Taiwan and release albums there. JJ Lin , Stefanie Sun , A-do, Tanya Chua ...etc.
The venue is huge. 50,000 capacity. Quite large.
We have a balanced appreciation for many languages.
We do Singlish - the basis being malay and with mandarin and dialects (hokkien, cantonese) in it. It's very fun - basically a non-tonal language (English) with tonal language elements...which is confusing for english only speakers.
Wanna say you should get JJ onto your show or Collab!! Really love your reviews.
Strongly recommend that Rosette reviews JJ's rendition of Ed Sheeran's 'Thinking Out Loud'. JJ sang this song in his 2016 concert held in LA and he was thoroughly enjoying it then.
JJ also sang "I'm Yours" together with Jason Mraz during the Taiwan Golden Melody Award Ceremony in 2014. This song is also worth reviewing. By the way, JJ was awarded the Best Male Artiste during the 2014 ceremony and he repeated the feat in 2016.
JJ & ED ❤❤❤
小時候聽不少外語歌曲 、 雖然聽不懂歌手唱的歌詞意思、但是總會被歌歌聲中表現的感情及旋律感動。所以大家會說音樂無國界。
I was at the concert! yeah, rozette is right, JJ does sound softer, should be the mic or sound system issues when capturing their voices, maybe different settings. but still, seeing both of them perform on stage together was a really great experience.
I am Singaporean. We speak Singlish here. Which is kinda of like broken english 😂. And singapore is a multi-race country & different races speak in different languages like chinese, malay & indians. But is mandatory for Singaporean to learn english as a first language. So we are being influenced in all sort of music & culture from everywhere.
And yes Ed sheeran is very famous in Singapore. And JJ is Singapore's pride. So when they two came together & performed. It is like worldwide news & surprise to everyone.
Hopefully JJ & Ed Sheeran will do more collab in the near future! 😊
& Coach Rozette should try singing some chinese songs too. You can do it! 😁
So freaking cool to hear them discuss us hahaha ❤❤❤❤
The spontaneity is RAD 🎉🎉🎉
Yeah, it's so delightfully strange isn't it ha~
這首歌將成為中西結合之傳奇
JJ sang Ed's "Thinking Out Loud" in a concert years back, go check it out.
I love this episode and the discussion about Cantonese and Singlish. I’m from Hong Kong living in Singapore, speak fluent Cantonese and Singlish
Unexpected Singlish from Flo left me doing a double take. Wow.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised how many Singaporeans this channel reaches given the bilingual nature of this series.
Tanya . One of the Sg Gem also. Small Country but we have quite a number of Good Singer too.
Fellow Singaporean and we are so very proud of JJ!!! And yes English is our first language, and we are able to speak Mandarin and dialects such as Hokkien, Cantonese etc and mix them up in a sentence. We call it Singlish
Code-switching and code-mixing are common. That said, in every country, there will be the standard variant of the language which will be used in formal and official situations.
Singapore is best known for its Best Airport and Best Airline in the world… also Singlish is common among many Singaporean! English is the official language in Singapore.
07:43 老師的頭腦原地爆炸,太可愛了。
Oh wow. So many Singaporeans here in this channel. +1 🎉
Singapore English is called Singlish.
Singaporean singers who are well known in Taiwan/China are JJ Lin, Stefanie Sun, Tanya Chua, Kit Chan, Ado... To name a few...
Some Singaporean singers. Anita Sarawak from the 70's, she was a resident in Vegas for 18 years since 1985. From the 80's, Maggie Teng (鄧妙華), Gigi Loh (古行雲), Dick Lee (better known as producer for the likes of Sandy Lam, Leslie Cheung in the late 80's-90's). More recent from 90's-00's on, Kit Chan (陳潔儀) (appeared on The Singer China), Tanya Chua (蔡健雅), Corrine May (LA-based), Olivia Ong (debut in Japan), then there is Joanna Dong and Nathan Hartono who appeared on The Voice China.
Ed also performed one of TAKA’s songs in Japanese with TAKA from ONE OK ROCK when he was doing concert in Japan just a few weeks ago
老师"两位唱的太好听❤❤
Wow, I didn't know that ES sang with JJ in his world tour(?) Thanks for sharing this great video too
Which part of Singapore? We are a “RED DOT” on the world map. 😊 JJ is our Singapore’s Pride!!
Actually we can't wait for Coach Rozette cover a mandarin song ❤
It's too hard for her 😂
The Singapore Natinal stadium can house up to 60K audiences actually..haha. It's a full house on that day
居然這麼快有! 😍😍
I really appreciate the lady commentator joining in❤
You guys forgot Tanya Chua is also Singaporean! And wow Flo is true blue Singaporean! Can't fake that accent 👍
yes i love Tanya so so so much ❤
Rosetta was right in saying their mikes were different. JJ Lin’s was his own. That’s why you could tell one (Ed’s) was more powerful than the other (JJ’s).
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 both artist rocks!
Singapore national language is Malay but English is our first language for education.
vocal coach eres la mejor en calificar el timbre de voz de jj lin y ed sheeran omg , eres increible
Singapore has 4 official languages; English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil.
English is the main business language. We don't have Cantonese accent in our English speaking but do have mix of Mandarin and Malay in our English when spoken casually. Singapore has Singlish (Singapore English), you can find that in UA-cam.
❤❤❤ JJ n Ed’s songs vert much
OMG! Can’t waittttttt!!!!!!
Singaporean here and I tagged you on FB, so glad you are doing this!
Hello from Singapore! We are a melting pot of cultures, people, food and music. We are often criticised for not having a distinct Western or Asian identity, but this is exactly our identity!
I urge you to visit Singapore and experience the conFUSION for yourself!
60,000 plus people in the audience. Taylor Swift will also hold 6 concerts in Singapore (the only stop in Southeast Asia) from 2,3, 4 Mar to 7, 8, 9 Mar 2024 at the same venue. In January 2024 Coldplay also held 6 concerts there.
Just some info about Singapore, our forefathers came mainly from China, Malaysia, India and Britain (we used to be a British colony). To ensure that we had a common language to communicate with different races, English was chosen as the common language due to economic purposes (so that we could trade with the west.) But everyone still had to learn their mother tongue (Chinese, Malay or Tamil) in school. English is the medium of instruction for all subjects (apart for mother tongue). So yeah, we are very heavily influenced by Western culture, western music etc. An interesting point to note is that Malay is our national language. Our national anthem and army commands are all in Malay. 😊
A side note, if you would like to see JJ sing rock, check out 《独角戏》. It was a challenge presented to him to transform a ballad into a rock song. 😊

We are famous for “Singlish” 😊
Flo's Singlish accent is super accurate when she is not trying to exaggerate it.
60k ppl in this Ed Sheeran concert
9:29 我也发出来了同步的“wooo~~~”😆
其实…我也很想让橘老师看看林JJ跟jason mraz的合作呢🙈
好酷喔!😊
Yeah, they should have done another song together.
Haha, in Singapore we speak English, Mandarin, Malay, Hokkien(dialect). And a mixture of that would = Singlish. It's not formal but this is very "Singaporean" :)
btw just wanna say SO PROUD OF JJ!! 😘🤗
JJ LIN CPOP KINGGG
Come on to Singapore and experience our melting pot culture, I think you either have someone from the region or from Singapore itself (the lady who's off screen) who can be your tour guide. 😊
Ed was performing in our National Stadium, the largest concert venue in Singapore. I think he broke the record this round for having over 60k crowd in a single show as he adopted a 360° stage setup opening up all corners to the audiences fully making use of the full arena capacity instead of the usual way by sealing off a corner for a bigger stage / backstage. I'm not sure if he broke his personal record as well.
Yes, people over here listen to all kinds of music, a pretty heavy weightage of Western music as well, but I think we're all under the same threat of getting swept away by Kpop these days... 😆
I was there :) Ed Sheeran 16 Feb 2024 🎉
Keke so many Singaporean here sia! Come come visit us!
Singers from Singapore to react other than JJ Lin: Stephanie Sun, Kit Chan, Tanya Chua, Mavis Hee, A-Do
🔥🔥🔥
Coach Rozette, please react to Stefanie Sun 孙燕姿 singing! She is huge in Chinese music world. Her online concert in 2022 garnered 240 million views.
We're bilingual! 😁

This is in the Singapore National Stadium. Known as d sports hub. 60,000 capacity. English is our 1st language. Mandarins is our 2nd language
Actually Malay is our national language, English is our business language, the others like Mandarin, Hindi is mother tongue
Actually, Singapore has 4 official languages: English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. English is used in business, and Singlish is our local language that mixes various languages in one sentence. Students can opt to study both English and Mandarin as their 1st language, so it is not necessarily that English is 1st and Mandarin as 2nd language.
Actually Eng is a must, Mother tongue can be Chinese/Malay/Tamil
@@PearlF1966It’s Tamil! Not hindi! Are you a singaporean?! Or you are a ceca!
@@BoOmMaGuOpEePApologies, I meant Tamil.
