For sure Will, most of us love Death and his videos, but a lot of us are upset about this one. He got off on the wrong foot and didn’t listen. He didn’t understand what you were trying to say and took it personal like he’s still an inmate. On top of that, yes he knows the ropes well in prison but he never has been in a Jitt camp and doesn’t know all the rules there about the no tray/food swapping and got hung up on it. It was the wrong move and he was disrespectful. He absolutely should redo the interview and let you speak and understand man.

I remember a CO being like this guy. The uptight strict one who doesn't care about inmates and look down on inmates. It's dehumanizing to say the least. He's the prime example of every Florida's jit camp interview Death has done describing CO's. In this video he says "I just want to do my 8 and go" shows his lack of empathy towards his job.

Death, you are driving me crazy with this lunch story. The CO is telling you that he didn’t want to see inmates give up food if the other person isn’t trading with him because he doesn’t know if the person is getting extorted. One person gives up food and the other person isn’t. They are not exchanging food. Only one person is giving up food. HE COULD BE GETTING EXTORTED!

My understanding is the guard made the inmate who gave up his food dump the rest of his tray. He said " you don't want to eat dump your tray" , making it worse on the inmate who could have been being extorted. And he said he didn't care either way. Death seems to be the only one who sees this.

@Love, Leah Yeah it's 14-24 year olds. Google Florida prison ause and jit camps for some crazy stories. The feds busted and arrested a bunch of prison staffers for rapes, bribes, beatings, etc.

@David Pryor when you apply for a job most people dont call back up if they dont receive a call back. Following up with a phone call to check on your application status is smart. Most people dont do that so it sets you ahead of the other applicants and you are more likely to be hired

No. In h dorm, the jitts can't get canteen like that so anyone who's getting extorted, their trays are being taken. Which is insanely popular. 1090 Jake talked about it in his own videos and on this video. This guy would make them dump it because he's standing up for the weaker guys. Basically like, "if I can't have my own food, nobody can" cuz if the gang members or whoever are able to get a dudes desert off his tray, he'll be giving his desert up every single meal, so dude is just saying either the kid will have his own food or no one will. Absolutely a reasonable thing. He said it was no problem to trade food, but you cannot give food away. Which is extremely nice of a CO because that makes a CO look really bad when inmates are talking and trading during chow, but he said fuck the way all the other employees and employers saw him, he was helping the inmates out.

I understand what dude is saying. I’ve been a CO for almost a year now, and when you’re new you chose which rules mean the most to you and strictly enforce those and can be a little less on the others.
Veteran COs and even inmates ALL have advise for rookies and you have to pick and chose what works for you. When you’re new, you have constant eyes on you to see how you react to EVERYTHING.
Once you have been in for a while and can test which style works for you best, you stick with that....but he has a major point on what he said with the food. It happens all the time with trays so since you can’t investigate every situation, it’s best to just put an end to all of it.
This way you don’t have inmates saying “You let me do it the other day” and next thing you know you have an upset inmate over something minor. He did the right thing.
If you don't have passion and love for what you do, you end up being this guy.

I think youre misunderstanding that hes not hes not allowing food being traded because he cant tell whether or not that person is being extorted. So in an attempt to stop any kind of extortion, he was saying no trading food. Which makes sense. And he was obviously gonna stay on that rule since extorting an inmate isnt right.
It doesn't matter what job you are in, explanation is key if you want to prevent misunderstanding. If you can explain why the food has to be binned - to prevent extortion - and you're not just being awkward or petty. You're doing it to protect the inmates.
Facts. Especially when your target audience usually isn’t listened to and doesn’t get to make many of their own day to day choices, that shit is understandably maddening to be told what to do when you are operating within your limits.

A longer interview with CO’s would be good. Try to get them to talk about the stuff that goes on from their point of view and how they feel about other CO’s and prisoners

My husband was just treated terrible the other day he has a seizure disorder and went to jail the cops and c/o's claimed in police report they believed he was faking they rammed his head into the wall tased him 3 times and then put him in the Restraint Chair for "faking seizure" when they KNOW HE has A MAJOR SEIZURE DISORDER SO NOW THIS IS GOING TO COURT AND I CAN ONLY HOPE WE CAN GET THE VIDEO FOOTAGE OF ALL THIS TO EXPOSE THESE CORRUPT COPS AND C/O'S WHO DID MY HUSBAND WRONG... REFUSED HIM A CHANGE OF CLOTHES AFTER THE SEIZURE INSTEAD MADE FUN OF HIM FOR URINATING ON HIMSELF FROM THE SEIZURES....THIS INTERVIEW MAKES ME SICK FUCK THIS GUY!!!!

trading trays and food causes a lot of altercations he would ultimately have to deal with in the end anyways, a lot of prison are super strict on trays and commissary , just keeping everything baseline , he said don’t let him catch you, if he’s got a job to do, he’s got bills to make, if everyone half assed their job no one would get anything done. gotta look at both sides man

I was an inmate and I appreciate him doing that. Like he said, trades we ok but one giving another something with nothing in return, he doesn't know if dudes getting threatened or what. That was his thing. As an inmate, we know what we can do around what officers. Just like never being able to take food from Chow, done COs would shake u down leaving chow n others would let anything go as long as that metal detector didn't buzz. We knew what was what n who would let it go. I'm glad he did that because officers need to step up n stomp out that extortion racket. That shit is what caused 80% of the problems at the jails and prison I've been to. He may have let other things slide that other COs had an issue with. They all have their things.
