What we need is legislation to prevent our parliament from being hijacked by family members like mafia family. I am not an advocate of Family members taking over our parliament and democracy. I do not agree with the PM wife having so much power in parliament. I warned everyone that fulling up Parliament with family members was bad precedence. Our government is being run from their dining rooms and bedrooms.

The real question is who elected her has the house speaker??? From what I know The person (House Speaker) must be nominated by a member of the House, then chosen by a majority of the full membership of the House. Also the House Speaker is third in line for presidency or prime minister.

I got a measly 10% salary increase. I could never walk out of my class and leave 30 students because I do not like what 1 student said or did. I would use it as a teachable moment to help that child to understand the folly of his ways. Now you take 300% salary increase and walk away in a debate because you don’t agree or like what the opponent says? No. You wait on a point of order or your rebuttal to make your voice heard on the matter. Whether Mr. Golding’s point was ill timed or a low blow, Mr. Holness and his team should have stood their ground and responded. Argue profusely and loudly on the matter but do not disrupt the budget presentation. Taxpayers are paying you huge sums to stand up to scrutiny and also to be accountable to the citizenry.

But the opposition was only speaking on behalf of the people about he and his wife holding such high positions- the opposition said that didn't sit well some people - my understanding is that he shed light on such concerns on behalf of those individuals. Afterall we are not in China - an authoritarian country.

While I believe in neither party, Mark's budget presentation is more in line with reality than the eutopia Nigel Clarke presented. He is the son of John Golding and Patricia nee Levy. Patricia was the daughter of a jamaican doctor whose wife was Australian. His father John Golding was born in England but lived in Jamaican. He was an expert doctor in tropical orthopaedic medicine. He assisted disabled persons. He was the doctor who was responsible for containing the polio outbreak in the 1950's. He opened the Hope Valley Experimental School.
