No one makes movies like Fincher. The clever use of visual effects that are so good you don’t even recognise them. The stories that challenge you, get you thinking, making you sit on the edge of your seat.

Fincher is a true director. Such incredible intellect and insight into human nature! He is as fascinating as a person as are his films. Kubrick of our times, I'd say!
I'm a feature film director in Turkey, who had his wake up call after reading the collected interviews of Fincher. He is the perfect amalgamation of skill, empirical perspective and the philosophy of never suffering fools. Only directors who have suffered in the hands of vapid, status anxious producers and colleagues become this way. Mr. Fincher was a compass for thousands of directors all over the world for always calling shit "shit" and making results better. What a bro.
The same shit happened to James Cameron on ALIENS. The British Crew didn’t respect Cameron or believes in his vision and he ended up butting heads. Fincher and Cameron are extremely knowledgeable in Film Making and Special FX and IMO Mastered there craft.
That’s absolutely right. As a Brit, i was ashamed to hear about jealous crew members engineering, gooey visual effects to literally blow up in Fincher’s face while he was testing. He was more knowledgeable at age 27 than most of the crew combined.
The editing truly kills this video. Fincher is interesting in and of himself. There is absolutely no reason to be cutting between six or seven different shots, at times all within a single minute. I rather just see the jump cuts. Better yet, just show the unedited version.
Could listen to him all day. His way of speaking reminds me a little of Kevin Smith. Just engrossing to listen to. Love his reaction to the interviewer saying he liked Alien 3 hahahaha
I think, in my very humble opinion, Darren Aronofosky, Alfonso Cuaron and David Fincher are the greatest movie makers of our generation. They are all fucking geniuses if you ask me. We are lucky to have them!
I notice some distinct parellels to his up and coming protege, David Prior, who went through hell to make, The Empty Man. Which is one helluva a movie, that got stuck in the can for a few years, then released in the most shitty and nonchalant way. Empty Man is slowly becoming the sleeper that looks to become an epic cult classic, as it's finally garnering the recognition it deserves, through word of mouth, and despite the movie houses that tried to bury it. There should be a plethora of junkets on David Prior and various actors of the movie, but the bits of interview from podcasts w/ Prior, he started at an even more unlikely younger age, knowing he was going to make movies, and determined to do it. He ended up designing DVD special editions for Fincher, and talks of feeling out of body when watching him work in the early days. Also working on several of Fincher's movies as well. Best of luck to both of them. When you have that itch, that deep and that young, you deserve to scratch it.
What fascinates me most about Mr Fincher is he uses every bit of tech he can to make his movie, but the movies always warn, somewhat, about the dangers hidden in our digital/info driven society. The Social Network is about one such pitfall in the modern world, Gone Girl another. There is an old versus new theme in Dragon Tattoo also. That juxtaposition intrigues me.
The whole interview was pro-shot, lasted 2+ hours, and 24 minutes is all that has been released, in 3 years. Who knows why. Even audio would suffice. Or a transcript. í got 1 of the 50 public tickets that sold out in 1 second; failed to make it down from Glasgow due to family illness. By all accounts, a transformative evening. Oh well.
Enrique Centeno I'm pretty sure there is. I've seen it, but can't quite remember where. But, yes. And if I'm not mistaken, there's a podcast as well. And... Don't let me start on this editing...
"How did the editor of this think that this editing would fly with an audience filled with a bunch of cinema buffs?" That's what I asked G-d. Apparently the idiot couldn't reply. G-d; is he really what he's made out to be?
The problem isn't just in the editing. I think the composition of the shots really got in the way. On their own this shots look good, but when you cut from one to another it all goes to hell - one moment i'm looking in Mr. Fincher eyes. Than a cut comes. And now i'm looking at a wall that out of focus. It brings up an important thin about editing - you have to start thinking about it before the cameras start rolling.
Not only is the editing disturbingly bad, it seems to be manipulating what he's saying. It's quite ironic to have such a great opportunity be ruined by poor directing/editing. Also kind of loose your trust in the BAFTA organization to award "good films" if this is what you manage to produce.
I swear this was taken down for a while... and knowing fincher he was the one that took it down. (Probably watched it and didn’t like it for whatever reason... perfectionists)... In any case that might be why this is edited so oddly. Don’t ask me why they did it I’m just sayin it was gone for a while and now it doesn’t look like the original cut at all.
@Swayam Pattanaik I honestly can’t remember but I’m pretty sure these life in pictures are usually a bit longer than this and I remember it being longer, with more q&a and the editing was not this... weird.

The Bronze Age of DC Comics I didn’t get anything of Fight Club that resembled masculinity instead I found it as an exposing of our society allowing ourselves to waste our lives and they’re joyously not subtle about it in showing a man who in memory could be reasonably considered comical but it was done in such to put it, a disgustingly beautiful way I mean Marla could be token as an outlet of his masculinity but I understand what you’re saying
