Regarding the kids on leashes conversation: it's completely reasonable. When I was a toddler in the 90s, I was put on a leash because my parents wanted me to roam around without constant supervision, without dying. Specifically, it was when we were at the lake house -- because as a toddler, if my parents stopped actively watching me for 5 minutes, I'd find my way over to the lake. I had a fascination with drowning myself until I was 5 or 6. So there were 3 options: put me on a leash, keep me locked inside, or stand around actively watching me and do literally nothing else. The leash allowed me to roam around mostly unsupervised without serious risk, and is likely one of the reasons I was independent at a very young age.

Ugh the nonsense I hear about my country sometimes🤦🏼♀️ most homes have central heating for the cold winter months, we’re not cave dwellers🙄 It rarely gets hot enough to need AC in Britain, but we can usually get it installed if we want it - office buildings sometimes have AC. We cope fine without it, though, as the temperature tends to stick around low to mid 20s celsius, which is warm but not super hot.
