    Teresa, hello this is Andie. we meant at Patchwork Plus in Dayton Va. I was using the walker at the time. (doing much better), I really appreciate this video showing how to cut LARGE pieces! I have been struggling so much with that one issue. it sets the stage for the whole process to go bazirk. thank you so much!!by the way I bought the same black n decker "dust buster" about a year ago and love mine too. I just have the worst time cutting the really fluffy stuff. Jerry (my significant other) bought me a set that has several interchangeable razors to it. I mean to tell you it slices and dices cuddle like no one business. he got it from WalMart in the tools section. where there is screw drivers , and other types of knives. really works super super well like cutting butter. Also I have a huge white or clearish cutting board that fits on a double bed. or a queen well. then I lay my fabric out (this is for large pieces) and, cut it. (well, with cuddle, I am still working on that!) I usually cut my baby blanket 35 to 40 but, I never have made them square like, one side might be 40 and the other might be 35. because, I am always trying to fix it.. does it have to be square? yes, I am a blonde.. lmbo. thanks for all your tips I really do use them.

      Its easy to make that diagonal going the wrong way. I can't tell you how many times I've had to rip out the corners on fast turn baby blanets. So, I never trim them until I pull the blanket inside out to make sure its right!

    How would you go about doing this in a larger size and if you want to put it onto a long arm and quilted?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  9 місяців тому

      We have a tutorial for making a larger size, as well as how to finish a quilt with a self-binding edge. If you want to have it longarmed, I'd suggest doing that first and then do the self-binding. --teresa

    I haven't seen you square up material before measuring, marking and cutting. How do you square up the material first?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  Рік тому

      I generally just square up from the selvage. I like to use a large square ruler, even it up along the selvage, then use long rulers to draw a straight line all the way across the width of the fabric. You'll want to make sure you can lay that edge out completely flat. I've found that the big 6- or 8- foot tables are great for this. If you have two to put next to each other, it's ideal! --teresa

    I made this baby blanket yesterday and had to rip out the border and reduce the tension down to nearly 1 to keep the fabric from puckering and twisting. Don’t think I try this material again!

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  3 роки тому +2

      I'm sorry to hear you struggled with it. Did you double-pin as demonstrated? That really helps prevent the twisting, as well as the puckering. We have lots of videos with techniques that work well with our plush knit fabrics. -teresa

    Do you ever use iron on stabilizer to stop the fabric from stretching?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  Рік тому

      I have used it, especially for applique and patchwork, to get rid of the stretch. It works very well, but it does require extra time and materials. I know some people use strips of it along the seam lines to make it easier to sew. Let us know how it works for you! --teresa

    I binding the blanket with zig zag stitches and underneath I placed some tissue paper from the toilet paper which I now struggle to remove. Even using tweezers. I put it on otherwise the needle wouldn't proceed. I washed the cover hoping it would come off, but nothing. How could I do? Thanks from Italy!

    When determining the size of the border, do you also add in a seam allowance?

    The feed dogs on my sewing machine catch on backing of the Luxe Rose fabric I am using as the wrap around fabric. Do you have any suggestions? I have found a lot of useful information with this video and your other videos. Double pinning and which tool to use to cut the different cuddle fabrics are at the top of my favorites! Thank you!

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  3 роки тому

      I have seen this happen before and I know that people have used a variety of techniques to help with it. You can use something in between the feed dogs and the fabric. This can be a stabilizer (tearaway or water soluble stabilizer) or something basic like tissue paper. Some machines just seem to have way more grip than others and catch the fabric. I hope this helps! -teresa

    Did you wash and dry the cuddle fabric before you measured and cut it?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  Рік тому

      No because Cuddle® does not shrink. You may want to wash and dry if it is a dark or bright color to make sure all the dyes have been removed, but it will not affect the size. --teresa

    Can I put my Patchwork cotton as an inset?

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  3 роки тому

      Absolutely. If you want to add batting, make sure to quilt it. Otherwise, you can insert it without any quilting, just as you would with a piece of Cuddle, into the center.

    • @ShannonFabrics
      @ShannonFabrics  Рік тому

      Sorry that was a disappointment; this blanket is made without batting so that it does not need to be quilted. If you are interested in adding batting and quilting a blanket, we do have a couple of videos that would help. In Three Ways to Bind (ua-cam.com/video/ECBw6msp8l8/v-deo.html), we talk about varieties of batting, how to quilt it (yourself or hired), and a variety of ways to bind it, including the self-binding method we talk about here. I hope you can find the info you're looking for, but if you have any specific questions, please reach out to me at teresa@shannonfabrics.com
