Is that saying 'Good to watch... 'long cong' is exactly the language in which Teochew people speak.' I am not experiential enough to figure out what 'long cong' means though as a native speaker of Teochew.
To us overseas teochewnese with root in jie yang now residing in Indonesia, kekyo in teo sua, supposedly 'long-cong' to meant 'all in all or altogether'...
@@Cys62 Glad to have your feedback, now I understand that phase well, we do have that expression in our daily dialog and it is written as '拢总'. Maybe the overtime geographic separation of us made the grammar somewhat different from each other so at the first glance the word seems make no sense in the sentence, but it is totally understandable now. BTW, happy to meet someone origin from Jieyang/Kekyeoh overseas, it is also my hometown and hopefully we can get contact and meet there someday.
@@chi-fantsai8583 oh ok......same here. That would be great. Of course our vocabulary would be rather limited. Given explanation, i feel most teochewnese would have no difficulty understanding each other. My relative from belated granddad still live in swatauw. Went back to teochew a couple of years back in 2017. Like teochew city a lot. Feel like home. Been to swatauw, and my uncle which happens to be younger than me, took us my dad, mum and great uncle to nam ao island.. nice place. Been to swatauw old garden, the oldest part of the city, also like this place too. Note: among the sub teochewnese, i think the hardest would be hai lok hong or hai lu feng. @@Cys62 Yeah I was also lucky to have been to such impressive venues or resorts. I have got relatives in Bangkok Thailand as well, who have visited back a few years ago when I played the role of their only guider and translator at the same time. They could not speak a single word in Teochewese and I know nothing about Thai so English was the only bridge for communication. As far as know I completely agree with your comment on the sub groups, it is almost a common sense amongst great Teochew area as a whole. It is also worth point out that Hai Lok Hong you've mentioned should in fact be viewed as an isolated Southern Min cultural island with highly consistent or identical cultural characteristics regarding to that of southern Hokkien or even Taiwan, including the dialect of course. These distinctions are sometimes omitted either deliberately or unwittingly when it comes to the concept of great Teochew area, while some people are more serious about the issue about their identity/root so deny that they are of the same nationality. Keep going on the path of your self learn and thanks for your effort in protecting our beloved culture else where, I believe that you are actually doing a better job than even the majority of the local new generation as they are facing the challenge from the dominance of Mandarin.
