Wow, this is fascinating. At 0:51 of the video (2:02 in his run) Nana appears to throw an honest-to-goodness stivot, of the sort that wouldn't become common at the WC level for another 5 years. I broke it down frame by frame, and he redirects his skis in to skid and then back out above the apex to carve past the gate. They key element that distinguishes it from what most racers were doing in this era is that he redirects the ski back "out" to hook up the carve, instead of drifting out to the apex.
