History is fun. History is knowledge. History is wat we are today but told tomorrow.
Thank you,it was about time we had YT history of Antwerpen.❤
I couldn't agree more. 🙂
I visited Antwerp last year and was really amazed with the Cathedral. It would have been stunning if the second tower had been completed that's for sure. 🙂
Tank you for your history lesson.
I live in Antwerp and I know a lot about the history. But what you told I didn’t know.
Many thanks for the feedback. Good to know that the video was useful.
I love Antwerp, but have always felt uneasy about those 20th century skyscrapers that stand alongside it. Am I being too fussy? St Paul's cathedral in London used to dominate the city skyline but has long been dwafted by the architectural horrors of the 20th and 21st centuries.
There is only one skyscraper nearby, the "Boerentoren", ... built in 1929, the first skyscraper in Europa. Another monument ...
Really interesting! Just a slight correction: Brabant, not Flanders.
Many thanks for the compliment.
Regarding your remark about Flanders, I presume this refers to the section about the missionary Eloi (St. Eligius), who embarked on a mission trip to Flanders.
With this sentence, I do not imply that Antwerp was located in Flanders; it was located in Brabant, as you indicate. In the early Middle Ages, the Scheldt River was the border between Flanders and Brabant. During Eloi's mission trip in the region of Flanders, he traveled as far as the area around Antwerp, which was located right at the border.
