What's up, TD. So, tell me...what do you think about the Atom? And what about the stiffness of the pads? Overall I'm happy with it, so far - though a little concerned about how the side buttons will hold up over heavy use - we'll see!
Hey Quanta. I was surprised at the stiffness of the pads but I'm used to it with the pads from my axiom 61. The side buttons are a concern and could've been a little stiffer in my opinion.
Once again you deliver the goods Mr. Q! I just ordered the Atom and the 1st place I went to see if I could learn something about it was my goto Presonus channel... Quanta. Thanks for all your great content and you continued support of this community.
I bought an Atom too, a few months ago and yes it does feel solidly built. I haven't got used to the buttons on the sides yet though, but I can't understand why they made it with only 4 knobs. If I'm using Impact then I'd like to be able to control all of the parameters with the knobs, like I could with my Akai MPK25. The pads on my Akai started to be unreliable, which is why I bought the Atom. It's a decent controller but considering that it was made for controlling Impact, the 4 knobs just aren't enough and lets the Atom down in my opinion.
Thank you Quanta for another great video. I'm probably going to grab an Atom this weekend. It would be great, if in a future update, the Atom was able to shift between banks of mapped knobs. Am I right in thinking that at the moment, we can only have 4 parameters mapped at a time? I hope you're doing well.
Yeah, I agree! Being able to have several banks to choose assignments for the knobs would be pretty useful. Perhaps it is available, I just need to spend some time going through the manual. Thank for watching and all the best.
3:26 That message about not being able to change sample rate - I've been getting something similar since a Windows 10 update maybe 2 or 3 months back. I used to be able to have my DAW, UA-cam and Soundforge 10 all open at the same time and switch between them and play audio from any of them now I can only play audio from Soundforge if that is the only application open (although I can use other features in Sound Forge if my DAW is open so long as I don't try to play audio). The message says that something to do with audio is already in use so sample rate can't be changed. Interestingly if I chose to edit a clip within Ableton (I've only recently bought Studio One) then Ableton launches Soundforge, as I've designated that as my editor of choice, and I CAN play audio in Soundforge while the DAW is open! Go figure! I think it is a Windows 10 problem and maybe one day after a few more updates it will just go away? I hope so anyway. Thank you again for your excellent video tutorials you are a very good teacher, clear, simple and easy to follow as you say exactly what you are doing as you are doing it and don't confuse us by leaving out information or assuming that it is implied. If you press a key you tell us you pressed a key, sadly many other UA-camrs are not so careful, precise and concise making them hard to follow. I've watched a few of the 'official' Presonus introductory videos and yours are way better IMHO. Thank you.
Hey, thanks so much for your message. Yeah, I think that the Windows update reset some of our settings for our audio cards! If you go back into your audio settings for your PC and change it to what you tend to use in Studio One, we can get rid of those messages. I actually only use Windows audio to capture the video tutorials, otherwise I use my ASIO audio interface. But, if you're still having issues you may want to check out this video I did on trouble-shooting windows audio, here: ua-cam.com/video/OzenEo-roJ4/v-deo.html Thanks again for your message and support of the channel, and all the best!
Thanks for the review! How's the sensitivity compared to the Nektar and Akai pads? I have a Panorama P6, and they're too stiff and won't trigger well unless I smash them hard with my fingers. I'm looking for something extra sensitive, something I don't have to worry about missing beats
Yes, I still have it and use it. There have been many updates and improvements to the firmware and features since this video, yes. If you are using S1 and are a beat-maker, I'd definitely recommend it. For me, while I do make beats, I'm also really into synthesis and sound design, so I really miss having keys. I don't like trying to play chords and melodies on a drum controller. So, I'll eventually be adding a keyboard controller soon...though I haven't decided on which one.
@@quantaaudio THX. I Have more then enough keyboard controllers and synths. (and more musical instruments...). Just sold my Novation Impulse 61 and bought Nektar T6.
The drum pads would work, yes. Though, the pre-mapped native integration appears to only be available in S1 version 4.1+. You can check out the Atom page on the presonus site, here: www.presonus.com/products/ATOM/tech-specs
Order d one... returned it a couple of days later... no real workflow enhancements, just another controller. Good pad sensitivity, but can’t do much here. Worst part, at least for my requirements, can’t setup chords and scales and even with studio one set on a particular scale, the damn controller responds chromatically. Also, no way to turn off the controller, you need to disconnect it and it is extremely bright when on, no much control there either.
Even if you don't have an automation track set up for a particular parameter, the Atom, by default, is sending out aftertouch data which is going to be recorded by the parameter automation lane within your MIDI part. If you want to disable the aftertouch being sent from the Atom you would need to hold down the small round "Setup" button and while still holding, press pad "5". At any point you want to turn the default aftertouch setting back on, you would again hold down the setup button and press pad "8". Hope this helps.

What up Quanta? I finally picked one up last week myself after seeing so many good reviews since its release. Happy beat making bro!

Its a great pad controller, works well under iOS also. My only wish is an editor like what Arturia use for their controllers, enjoy the gadget!

cool. looking forward to your vids quanta. picked mine up about a month ago. definitely enjoy using it in studio 14. yep!

I just got one for Christmas. I'm trying to use it through my chromebook. Can anyone help?
couple issues ....when synced to abelton the beat repeat function is disabled and also cannot disabled the leds and cannot edit the notes on the pad
thx man!
Greetings...any idea why the Atom records aftertouch data on the midi track even though I don't have an automation track defined. Thanks!

I have a chrombook and I was wondering, before I bought one of these, if the software will be compatible with a chromebook?
Personally I think they missed the boat.. NI's ribbon sliders on their Machine Jam are brilliant and an essential part of "midi control"
maschine however doenst integrate that well into s1
