Aaaaaand now on top of a major crisis, there's a port strike. Because fuck the southeast, apparently.
I'm all for looting stores for necessities, you are absolutely right. One of the problems at least in one of the cities hardest hit in my state (Asheville) is some are taking advantage of the situation and stealing things like art from people's homes to sell later and that is not the kind of looting that is okay. Otherwise though heck yeah steal food, medicine, sanitary products, fresh water and other needed supplies from Walmart as a former employee they can't do shit with it anyways with the store being flooded, it would have to be thrown out regardless at this point so may as well steal what you need just don't hurt each other. Help each other, loot together.
Yeah my sister's boyfriend says his family is a little scared right now. They're currently living in their store because it has power when the rest of their town doesn't, but the looting has gotten pretty bad and it makes them nervous 💔
My problem with the stealing is that some people will most likely take way more than they need, and there won’t be anything left for people who probably need it more. That’s why I think it makes more sense for people to buy things, where they can have limits to how much they can get instead of letting them take too much
Thank you for addressing this. I live where hurricane helene hit, but got lucky. Only a corner of the house was destroyed, but my parents almost didn't make it. We were out of power for 110+ hours and had multiple boil water advisories. We lost all our refrigerated and frozen food. Seeing people concerned about people "stealing" is crazy. The destruction is immense. Over a hundred people are not here anymore, and hundreds more are missing. Bridges are out, and yet people are concerned about LOOTING? It's insane.
My dad's always like "if we excuse stealing food people will steal OTHER things" girl do you think allowing theft of essentials means automatically letting people leave stores with an Xbox??? Cops already only catch SOME criminals (cough cough, and innocent people, cough cough) we enforce the law to varying degrees and inconsistently already, every day. It's okay they can take the pads and baby formula
Who cares if they do steal an Xbox? Like, oh noooooo! Who will think of Microsoft's bottom line? That poor Walmart exec won't be able to afford their third vacation to Italy this year 😢
I work at Walmart, not the one that's being flooded. But if I did, take it all. You need it more then the store does. Don't let your kids and yourself starve.
I guarantee that the moment the possibility of a flood exists near a store the company will have written off the whole thing as a loss and moved on, its the same as taking anything else unused or thrown away.
😅 As long as you're smart about it. Don't go anywhere that has power. Power means cameras and possibly electrified water. Don't go anywhere that the water is deeper than waist height. The last thing you want is to get trapped and drown. If you're somewhere with gators, they're in there. But! You probably know that one already.

I agree completely. I'm lucky to live in an unaffected area, but I see how much produce gets thrown in the waste because of 'deformities'. When my mom and I went to buy a Halloween pumpkin, we saw one that grew weirdly and looked like Popeye's face. So we went to buy it but an employee stopped us and took it from my mom like "I don't think we can sell this one. It doesn't look alright" But we were like "we not buying a pumpkin unless it's this one". This was a grocery store, and the policy seems really wasteful to throw out any produce due to cosmetic imperfections. The pumpkin was perfectly healthy, and I get so angry at the thought of the amount of vegetables and fruit they probably throw out for having extra limbs or weird shapes :/ Like, I wish they'd send the 'imperfect rejects' to a food bank instead
the thing most zombie apocalypse movies are missing is a section during the early stages of the outbreak where CEOs get on the news and cry about profit loss bc people are looting shops for survival gear and "lazy" employees stopped going to work "just because there's a little risk of being bitten". sure the dead have risen and the world as we know it is over but the Q3 numbers :(
Let us all remember that grocery stores waste more food than the entire community they support. I don't feel bad for them when they could be donating to shelters instead of begging us to donate
Literally. They should give the stuf away. I grew up in hurricane territory and none of this makes sense. We were gone for a MONTH and now I'm wondering what happened to all of that produce
I agree, until you start harming others to get said product. I noticed more charitable people helping each other out this time around though! My area was heavily effected by falling and ripped up trees breaking through homes. People were getting attacked over ice, and breaking into stores that were giving out products like ice to help, was something happening in my area as well. Rationing is still necessary to a degree, and I agree that human lives are more important, but there are still some that need to be called out, as sometimes when survival instinct takes over, we do forget that others are in similar or even worse situations.
I spent the weekend without power, watching the family group chat. I saw photos my uncle had took of him and his brother BOATING DOWN THE ROAD IN A ROWBOAT to get to my great grandfather and check on him(he’s fine). One of them was holding a Walmart crossbow. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
I work security at a local grocery store and I prosecute shoplifters... But if we're going to lose the product anyway, I'll just shrug and go help people find stuff in the store, I guess. I generally only prosecute those people who I'm certain could afford to pay for what they stole. Most people who take stuff in our store also buy other stuff at the same time. But if someone comes in, pockets a sandwich and heads back behind the hotel nextdoor to eat it, it's probably not going to do him or us any good to try and take money he doesn't have.
Not a good time, we are currently getting flooded but im glad this went in the direction of the stores and not the homes. Any other czech people watching?
The sad thing is the stores like Walmart that make billions should be giving the food out to people. But all they care about is profit. Bet they gave all the employees who couldn’t show up points for being out
Not sure if this is about the same Walmart but because of Helene the one in my town is completely totaled. The merchandise flooded out into the parking lot and people were wading through the water to grab stuff. Our community got hit hard and our neighbors got hit even harder
I doubt that the walmart can even sell it anymore if the store's been hit. All of it has probably been damaged out. They were going to damage it more and toss it out anyway

Just be careful how that knife might change your life. 😘 I'd say grab an appropriate bag and a small sewing kit, along with whatever clothes/fabric will hold you for a few days a week. At first I was like "huh" and then I finally understood it like if I had a kid or someone who needed food I'd absolutely steal, even if it wasn't a flood. Carrying the homes is more important than satisfying a corporate tycoon
It's already unsellable. As soon as any flood waters hit the floor everything in the store is considered contaminated. Everything will be thrown out when the flood waters leave.
To clarify he means DURING A FLOOD that is currently ONGOING not in a spot that is UNFLOODED and is NOT in that kind of danger. DO NOT DO THIS TO STORES AND SHIT that are NOT in that kind of danger.
I didn’t even know people were getting mad about this. People with less means are sending what the can and a BILLION DOLLAR corporation is getting mad about pocket change going to people in need. The world I swear…🤦🏼♂️
For sure loot food. Take what you need. But I draw the line at capitalizing on a disaster for stuff you don't need. Like that Walmart. You should absolutely take those bananas. But you don't need that flat screen TV. That's not going to help you.
Yeah. Take first aid kits, soap, and food. If I needed it, I might even take coolant, batteries, or oil from the auto department. If you’re gonna be driving out of there and you know your car is having issues, I see no problem with taking something like that.
LOL it isn't going to help the Walmart either. They have to throw everything out. It's all marked as contaminated and can't be sold. If someone wants to waste their energy taking a broken TV, let them be.
@@elaexplorer that is true. If a store gets flooded like that I’m sure they’ll get a full reimbursement for all the damaged, lost, or stolen product anyways. Like you said, not like they can resell it.
They have insurance. It's all been written off already. It's not doing anyone any good in the store and is going to be thrown out when the waters recede.
like the walmart is gonna need to repair the entire store, they arent gonna care about the bananas that would probably rot before they would have the chance to sell them again. Pretty much any item in the store would be unsellable after a flood anyway
Idk who needs to hear this but please don’t let Helene make you feel religious guilt. This is a freak situation. You aren’t being punished by God. We aren’t being punished by God. Shit is just out of hand.
In my English class we had to vote on whether we thought it was ok to steal when desperate. Most of us said yes thankfully, and my teacher was mentioning that if he worked at a store and saw someone stealing baby food and diapers and things like that he would just pretend to not see it. I'd do the same with all necessary things to survive. If it's a TV or some expensive crap that's not needed then obviously I'll say something, but if it's good then nah
Related; When you see that guy that sleeps in his car in the parking lot steal a soda and a bag of chips, just let him. He's not hurting anyone, he's not taking food off your table, LET HIM EAT THE DAMN CHIPS.
It's been a week. I took our last $60 to the grocery store after our power finally came back on to hopefully stretch until payday. I FINALLY got called back from the state about getting some food for my kids, and they gave me the numbers of food banks FOUR HOURS AWAY. That only serve residents of that county. I've called FEMA, but they aren't helping with food. The college offered assistance to students, but I still haven't heard from them. Thank f*ck the kids get free breakfast and lunch at school. My spouse's birthday is this weekend, and he just wants meat that didn't come in a can. Our daughter turns 8 next weekend, and I had to explain to her that we couldn't do her birthday party like we planned. I know there are people who have it so much worse than us, but i'm tired of putting on a brave face and assuring everyone that it's gonna be okay.
that store has insurance on every square inch of product up in there. human life cannot be replaced with a phone call and a claim number, so TAKE THE FOOD
Yeah, but is it still okay if it's like expensive tech stuff? Yes, either way, the company won't be able to sell those once it's all over, might as well take them for yourself instead of just letting them get destroyed.
would disagree with the tech stuff if only bc it will weigh you down on the way home and give you less space to store food you need in your car/truck. Also any electronics will make the chances of the flood water in your home becoming electrified more likely. I mean, if you're pretty sure your house isn't in flood zone but the shops will be? definitely go for it but generally, focus on necessities or if you're pretty well stocked up on food already, go for toiletries and sanitary supplies :D big agree on everything else Looting from someone's house? not cool. Looting from large company's store (that has most likely already written everything off as a loss) during an apocalyptic situation however, is the morally correct thing to do to make sure things don't go to waste
I feel like someone breaking into a house to steal a tv is a ???? Moment caise what are you going to even do with that? Walking off with supplies from stores before a flood can ruin them? Go for it with my blessing man
They'd rather throw it away than feed people. Loot the stores, feed yourself. Survive. A company will be perfectly fine without throwing out damaged food.
right?! the only thing is when people start taking appliances..like uhm madam..sir...my siblings in christ...what are we going to plug this expresso machine into?
i think theft is bad because when you steal my thing i don’t have it anymore, but it feels like some people think it’s simply bad for you to have a thing.
Another quick reminder: Walmart has insurance.
Also the food in the flooded store will be thrown away anyway.
I was about to comment exactly this. All that food is gonna be paid for by insurance. I'd much rather it be stolen and eaten than wasted.
Not only will insurance pay them, they also get to write all of it off on their end of year taxes so they essentially get double paid for it.
Another another quick reminder: Walmart is a multi billion if not trillion dollar company, they will not miss a stores worth of inventory
Another reminder: Walmart is a multimillion dollar company that isn't going to go broke over one emptied store.

Aaaaaand now on top of a major crisis, there's a port strike.
Because fuck the southeast, apparently.
@@sylvirgiomanach1491 the port strike only lasted a day tbf
That’s why I think it makes more sense for people to buy things, where they can have limits to how much they can get instead of letting them take too much
@@englishmuffin357well most of the stores in these areas don’t have anyone working so there isn’t anyone to buy from
@@commentsforthealgorithm ohh true, I hadn’t thought of that
the neighbors that loot together, thrive together
That poor Walmart exec won't be able to afford their third vacation to Italy this year 😢
It's not looting, it's surviving. The Waltons make TRILLIONS of dollars, so have at it. I love you for this, Danny.
I work at Walmart, not the one that's being flooded. But if I did, take it all. You need it more then the store does.
Don't let your kids and yourself starve.
im gonna be honest my brain did NOT comprehend what this video was about, I need more sleep

@@VivianRed Thanks my brain wasn’t working either
Just for some context y'all, Asheville is/was under about 8 feet of water, Chimney Rock is pretty much gone, and Boone is still flooded.
Oh no, theyll only have billions of dollars to float on above this sunk cost.
"you can't steal from stores no matter what" wtf is the store gonna do with this stuff???
God, this gave me flashbacks to when my old preschool teachers, who were spanish catholics, taught us all about noahs arc 😭
my first thought was, "I mean... I guess they might have been looting back then. imagine running out the flooding walmart holding groceries and a big ahh boat carrying millions of animals coasts past you-- oh wait, he's talking about the hurricane"
I agree human lives are way more important than product
I really really appreciate you posting this, I’m lucky enough to have been able to evacuate and reach somewhere where I have the resources I need, I know people who’s homes were literally gone, the roads are wiped out and sinkholes are everywhere, I live in NC where it was the worst, looting is OKAY you have to stay alive, and peoples lives are important, if I was in a store and I saw someone take a fucking bag of bananas or something, I would ask if they had enough water, because shits hard right now, and people need to come together. Sorry for ranting, and thanks for posting this Danny.
"but we're not making any money off of it if it's stolen" my brother in Christ you're not going to make money off it when it's swept away by water either
“And if you are getting mad…”
THEN WOMP FUCKING WOMP KAREN
the purge type stuff happening here
Don't slander The Purge like that; haven't you read the post about how if there was a purge several people would do illegal humanitarian acts like housing the homeless and gardening?
yah what they said ^
And they don't condemn the price gouging at all. Only the people needing to survive because it's "uncivilized" or some sh*t
Hey friendly reminder: if you need it to literally survive, just steal it. these are not diamonds or gold. If you are in a survival situation and you need a little food from a giant corporation… bro just take it
😂 Eat that food up! All they going to do is throw it away
If the food and product is going to be damaged anyways, I'd call it recycling. Totally different from looting during a riot or protest.
It doesn't look alright"
But we were like "we not buying a pumpkin unless it's this one".
This was a grocery store, and the policy seems really wasteful to throw out any produce due to cosmetic imperfections. The pumpkin was perfectly healthy, and I get so angry at the thought of the amount of vegetables and fruit they probably throw out for having extra limbs or weird shapes :/
Like, I wish they'd send the 'imperfect rejects' to a food bank instead
the thing most zombie apocalypse movies are missing is a section during the early stages of the outbreak where CEOs get on the news and cry about profit loss bc people are looting shops for survival gear and "lazy" employees stopped going to work "just because there's a little risk of being bitten". sure the dead have risen and the world as we know it is over but the Q3 numbers :(
Let us all remember that grocery stores waste more food than the entire community they support. I don't feel bad for them when they could be donating to shelters instead of begging us to donate
THIS
What you're saying here are also points I like to make when I get into discussions about why money is THE WORST THING WE AS A SPECIES HAVE INVENTED!
as someone who has been affected by this storm i appreciate you Danny 😭
Literally. They should give the stuf away. I grew up in hurricane territory and none of this makes sense. We were gone for a MONTH and now I'm wondering what happened to all of that produce
God bless you from the bottom of my heart. Please keep posting these.
They have insurance for floods anyway
As long as it's not someone else's home, especially impoverished homes. They need it just as much as you do
"I have no problem with theft" -George Carlin
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
biblical flood is crazy (i will take some fruit if I do say so myself)
Bet they gave all the employees who couldn’t show up points for being out
you’re absolutely correct but also i wanted to say your hair looks great!! very nice
black friday: emergency rations edition
Not sure if this is about the same Walmart but because of Helene the one in my town is completely totaled. The merchandise flooded out into the parking lot and people were wading through the water to grab stuff. Our community got hit hard and our neighbors got hit even harder
“Big ass Stranger Things clock” - Shane
Gotta add that to my list of favourite Shane and Ryan quotes
I doubt that the walmart can even sell it anymore if the store's been hit. All of it has probably been damaged out. They were going to damage it more and toss it out anyway
Getting flashbacks from Hurricane Katrina when the news showed black people 'looting' a grocery store, and the white people 'finding food'
::headdesk::
I will be stocking up on sugar, honey, peanut butter, and tortillas. trust-
Peanut butter? maybe. unsure if the packaging is watertight.
Sugar NO. Honey instead. Is often more watertight packaged, better than sugar, and has far more uses.
Flour? No. Grab canned goods. If you MUST have more carbs, grab some of the canned spaghettios or something.
GRAB MASON JARS. They're great for storing both perishable and non-perishable foods without worrying so much about space.
Water, and containers to safely store potable water. NEVER trust floodwater for sustanence. If you're able, pick up stuff for filtering it too: cotton fabric, charcoal, sand, two empty 2L bottles, and duct tape.
Duct tape. Don't qustion it.
First aid everthing. From packaged gauze to sealed medications (like asprin, ibuprofen, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, stool softener, gut settling tablets, whatever). Whatever you're most likely to encounter, do your best, but keep it travel friendly. Some places sell actual first-aid kits, just make sure it can be sealed up.
A good knife. multipurpose. It's good for times of peace and strife, so go get yourself a knife. Just be careful how that knife might change your life. 😘
I'd say grab an appropriate bag and a small sewing kit, along with whatever clothes/fabric will hold you for a few days a week.
List is getting long, and not everything is available or relevant to each refugee, but hopefully gives ideas on what to look for until you can get back on your feet.
Company Spokesperson: "Human lives are product! ...wait, shit. I shouldn't have said that."
At first I was like "huh" and then I finally understood it like if I had a kid or someone who needed food I'd absolutely steal, even if it wasn't a flood. Carrying the homes is more important than satisfying a corporate tycoon
The food is going to spoil/ get damaged anyways. I always hated how these corporations would rather throw out the food and claim it than give it away.
Human lives are more important! Very true. And this applies to taking feom others. We are all hurting, don't hurt another person just to get something
Thank you for the wise words Mr Daniel
Danny Ty sm for what you do you saved my life I was very suicidal and when I found out about you helped me through it tysm
flooded walmart is evacuated, you may enter at your own risk. you nay grab aloe as well, or even neuro toxins depending on what the walmart sells.

I hate how this isn't satire but addressing an actual issue in the world right now. This is the worst timeline
Like when the product is about to flood and become unsellable it doesn't matter
It's already unsellable. As soon as any flood waters hit the floor everything in the store is considered contaminated. Everything will be thrown out when the flood waters leave.
To clarify he means DURING A FLOOD that is currently ONGOING not in a spot that is UNFLOODED and is NOT in that kind of danger. DO NOT DO THIS TO STORES AND SHIT that are NOT in that kind of danger.
I support resources going to those in need!
Honestly, I could see my family yelling at me for grabbing some food before everything is destroyed…… That’s amazing.
I didn’t even know people were getting mad about this. People with less means are sending what the can and a BILLION DOLLAR corporation is getting mad about pocket change going to people in need. The world I swear…🤦🏼♂️
TV? 👎
Jewelry? 👎
Food and clothing? 👍👍👍
Flood damage will absolutely force establishments to throw everything out anyway, just take it.
HOW DOES THIS MAN POST MASTERPIECES FASTER THAN I CAN SAY FRICKFRACKRICKITYTICKTACK
Danny, sweetie.... Corporations don't care about consumer lives... They only care about money, costs and bottom lines...
Thanks for the clarification 👍
They had police standing outside guarding the stores
Idk who needs to hear this but please don’t let Helene make you feel religious guilt. This is a freak situation. You aren’t being punished by God. We aren’t being punished by God. Shit is just out of hand.
Arguably you are saving the products for use when they would have been destroyed by the flooding
If your response is "What about law and order?" go ahead and log out please.
It's been great... Grocery stores here closed down and just let the food go bad before reopening. I regret not looting -.-
In my English class we had to vote on whether we thought it was ok to steal when desperate.

When you see that guy that sleeps in his car in the parking lot steal a soda and a bag of chips, just let him.
Is it really looting if it's necessities or is it just being resourceful?
Yeah, but is it still okay if it's like expensive tech stuff?
Yes, either way, the company won't be able to sell those once it's all over, might as well take them for yourself instead of just letting them get destroyed.
would disagree with the tech stuff if only bc it will weigh you down on the way home and give you less space to store food you need in your car/truck. Also any electronics will make the chances of the flood water in your home becoming electrified more likely.
I mean, if you're pretty sure your house isn't in flood zone but the shops will be? definitely go for it but generally, focus on necessities or if you're pretty well stocked up on food already, go for toiletries and sanitary supplies :D
big agree on everything else
Looting from someone's house?
Go for it with my blessing man
Thank you, I really needed an excuse for those bananas.
They'd rather throw it away than feed people. Loot the stores, feed yourself. Survive. A company will be perfectly fine without throwing out damaged food.
Honestly, it looting or is it saving stock that’s gonna be written off either way from being completely wasted.
right?! the only thing is when people start taking appliances..like uhm madam..sir...my siblings in christ...what are we going to plug this expresso machine into?
Even crap like TV's are perfectly okay to take, they're going to get destroyed anyway so take them if you want them.
i think theft is bad because when you steal my thing i don’t have it anymore, but it feels like some people think it’s simply bad for you to have a thing.
