SPICA, the best new singer of 2012 is releasing a repackage of their 1st mini-album [Painkiller].
The album contains 8 songs including not only songs from the original mini-album but also a new song "Painkiller" and its instrumental version.
Following their songs "Potently" and "Russian Roulette", SPICA's new song "Painkiller" was produced by Marcan Entertainment which, centered on Ryan Chun, works in New York and L.A., with artists such as Lee Hyori, Shinee, TVXQ, F(x), Super Junior, and UKISS, known in the U.S as the TYGA Producer Team.
Written by Marcan for SPICA only, "Painkiller" is a song with a concept of real sound based on traditional R&B moods, bringing out SPICA's unique artistic traits.

今回のリパッケージ・アルバムには、既存のファースト・ミニアルバムの収録曲はもちろん、新曲「Painkiller」と「Painkiller Inst．バージョン」まで全8曲が収録された。
「強く」、「ロシアンルーレット」に続いてスピカが新たに披露する曲「Painkiller」を手がけたのは、米国のニューヨーク、ＬＡなどで活動中のRyan Jhun（ライアン・ジョン）を中心としたMARCAN ENTERTAINMENTのプロデューサー・チームで、イ・ヒョリ、シャイニー、東方神起、f（x）、スーパージュニア、U-KISSなどと作業をしてきた。米国現地ではTYGAプロデュー・サーチームとして有名だ。
「Painkiller」はMARCANがスピカだけのために作業した作品で、正統R＆Bの雰囲気をベースにしたリアルサウンド・コンセプトの曲で、スピカが持っているアーティスト性をうまく表現している。

'독하게', '러시안룰렛'에 이어 스피카가 새롭게 선보이는 곡 Painkiller는 미국 뉴욕,엘에이 등지에서 활동하는 라이언전을 주축으로 한 MARCAN ENTERTAINMENT 프로듀서 팀으로 이효리, 샤이니, 동방신기, 에프엑스, 슈퍼주니어, 유키스 등과 작업을 진행했고 미국 현지에서는 TYGA 프로듀서팀으로 유명하게 알려져 있다.
Painkiller는 MARCAN의 스피카만을 위해 작업한 작품으로 정통 R&B 분위기를 바탕으로 한 리얼사운드 컨셉의 곡으로 스피카만이 갖고 있는 아티스트성을 잘 표현하고 있다.
I still don't understand how a song like "Painkiller" didn't get SPICA major attention as rookies in 2012. It was a such memorable release imo, strong, moody beat, excellent vocals; I still get "pain killa killa killa" stuck in my head to this day.
actually it did. Russian roulette and painkiller actually did get the recognition "at the time". Some critics did acknowledge the song for being nicely done. But not for a decent extend of time, since the boy group scene in 2012 were more major and hectic, it overshadowed this song and this group, imho. and it sad :(
well, if you don't have super stand out visual/other incident (positive/negative) happen, they won't get anywhere.... Sad truth, but that's kpop.... moreover they're not from big agency. It's a lie if ppl said they like a group just based on songs :( I really hope SPICA get more attention, they truly deserved it.
I agree as I found them back in 2014 and they just dropped my jaw to the floor. I got started in KPOP just after their debut so I didn't discover them right away. When they get a good song it isn't just good, but great. There are a lot of really good groups that don't get the attention that they should and sometimes I wonder if for SPICA is that they are too old to get big. Is it still about the young artists in Korea and once you are over 25 it is, "see ya".
i think omonski was right 2012 was all about boy groups. I came back here bc of comparisons between spica and mamamoo as vocal groups. Mamamoo on the other hand rose to fame on the right timing, when all the attention was on rookie girl groups

Woojong I am a huge Crayon Pop fan, but my god these are the most under-rated ladies in KPOP...Spica is simply amazing...why do friggin KPOP fans in Korea worry more about the company they come from then the actual talent level....

Korea was not ready for this in 2012. I wish they had debuted in 2018 or later after kpop had a larger international fan base b/c these girls are mega talents and I-fans recognize stars from smaller companies more than K-fans.

I am in America. Sorry I only recently found Spica. Wish I had discovered them 10 years ago. They are amazing.
SPICA in my opinion is definitely one of the best girl groups in kpop vocal wise. Their dancing is actually quite on point as well, but they're so underrated. I'm happy they're slowly getting a lot more recognition nowadays, they deserve it!

I've been listening this song so many times. It's amazing, I really appreciate BoHyung's voice, she is born to be a singer. Narae's voice is full of sadness, she expresses the emotion of this song perfectly. They have different colors, but both of them are my bias>3

Brilliant in every way: clever, original, exciting music; great singing, beautiful girls and excellent choreography. I cannot understand how so much true rubbish gets to the top and these gems are disregarded. Most people are pretty dim and tasteless, I suppose.

I'm feeling frustrated that SPICA didn't get as much recognition as Mamamoo even though both are vocal groups.
I prefer SPICA over Mamamoo because I think their songs vary and don't stay in only two formats and they explored a lot just look at I'll Be There, Tonight and You Don't Love Me, they deserved to be famous right now even though they are in hiatus.

This is a very strong vocalled song. I like!
After the viral of Brave Girls, I find the concept to be quite important. As Rollin 'under the Vampire concept was floped that year, after BG returned to the summer / pastel concept, it was quite suitable for the song, so for Painkiller, it could be said that it was one of the impressive songs in 2012 but it failed, if they use Dark concept or a little bit of ghostly with black dresses instead of girl crush/street style concept then I think it will be more successful.
