    Lecto sounds fantastic. The Korg sounds the closest to the way most people would run a Recto in a bedroom though :p

    I've been saying it for years that the Lecto is the king of the Mesa dual rec amp sims. Here it sounded way closer than the Ax8. The Ax8 sounded quite thin and fizzy by comparison. I was very impressed with the little Mooer pedal.

    You've put a lot of effort into these videos. Absolutely amazing work! I'd love to see this get more and more views so people can start making decisions based on the sound and feel, rather than brand and the "tube glory". This coming from someone who sold his Mark IV and Axe Fx Ultra

  • @bentaylor2390

    My guess was 4, 1, 5. The Korg (4) sounds like how people dial in a recto for recording. Both 1 and 5 sound very alike, so well done Mooer! I love my Mooer 001 & 002 pedals. Great video man, keep em coming!

    Pausing video at 3:46 mark to comment. 1 and 2 were both the best by a wide margin to me. 3 was good too and the others not my thing. Going to finish and edit in more comments later.
    EDIT 1:
    Well damn. That LeCto plugin is killer. I actually dug 2 more than 1 just a bit.
    EDIT 2:
    Having watched the whole video now, I think you did a fantastic job again. I've already snagged the LeCto plugin to screw around with. Another excellent demo. Really looking forward to the Mark IV done similarly.

    awesome shoot out...i guess from the cheap range the lecto vst n cali dual gave their best to clone the 1st amp tone..n ax8 seems much clearer n pointy..not including korg in the list as it was way back modeler but in my opinion lecto vst sounded the closest to the amp..n really nice playing..the 'fuel' vibe was awesome too ..plz do more shoot outs n keep rocking

    LePou amp sims are ridiculously underrated. If I ever owned a Kemper or the Bias amp with amp match I’d profile those sims, especially the Legion amp.

  • @Rocksite1

    Since the Moor was last, it was hard to compare it blind to #1, which I liked better than 2-4; until the reveal. To my ears, it sounded virtually identical to 1. The Fractal sounded a lot more toppy, but had a lot less chug. Didn't like it at all. When you repeated them, and I could hear the Moor next to the real, they sounded identical! Don't worry about having only the diode rectifier. I have a Dual Rec, and only bother with the diode, and only Bold power.

    First thought when I heard the different sounds was:" Shit if #1 is not the real amp, my world will collapse..." I've used the Poulin Amps alot and I like them but for me the real thing has the nice highes. Not so harsh like the poulin. But thumbs up for the Poulin Plugin!

    Real amp
    Lecto
    AX8 (just lacks chunk)
    Mooer
    Korg

      @@BinFrost I put the Mooer above the Lector, because I can hear a hiss that sounds like a VST plugin. The AX8 is like slightly below the Mooer imo because it sounds like the amp if it had a DI Out

    I'm actually not surprised at all and the reason for this is one variable: The IR Cab. When recording digital it is the most important part for shaping the actual guitar tone, way more important than the Amp you put in front of it. I learned that through extensive testing myself. My conclusion was that it is pretty much irrelevant which amp simulation plugin you put in front of an IR Cab. You can make them all almost sound identical. I've tested this with Helix, the LePou Plugins, multiple Ignite Amp plugins and ReValver 4. The last test I did was ReValvers XXX II emulation vs. the LeCto plugin. It was pretty easy to match them. Getting good IR Cabs is the most vital part. The current distortion VSTs out there are tweakable enough to make them sound alike anyway. One plugin I haven't tested yet is the new Fortin stuff, though. Maybe you can get your hands on it and compare the differences?

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  5 років тому

      I have reviews and shootouts for both Fortin plugins if you're interested in how they compare to similar tube amps.

    I'm right there with you about not being able to stand a rectifier without an OD. Have you ever tried it with an EQ? I find running a 7 band EQ into a rectifier (well models of them) where I'm boosting the mids and cutting a lot of lows and some of the highs delivers a lot of what an OD does.

    • @PlagueScytheStudios
      @PlagueScytheStudios  6 років тому

      I run a clean boost into mine all the time doing essentially the same thing. The TC spark has a mid boost mode that mimics the tube screamer mid hump.

    Hey guys, I have only played digital rigs (Axe Fx2, Bias FX). Do you think it is worth trying a tube amp rig next? I was going to jump into the deep end and get a REVV 100P with a REVV 2x12 for drop A heavy metal rhythm guitar. Thanks.

    • @kevindeuschle3413
      @kevindeuschle3413 6 років тому

      hurttster if you haven’t ever felt a real quality amp with a good cab pushing air then yes absolutely. Played through Carvin legacy head cab, Mesa dual rec, own a peavey 6505 and an orange 2x12. Modelers are great for recording but practicing and jamming with friends I wouldn’t give up the real deal for the world. Plus it’ll give you a reason to grab a few good mics to mic the cab with to gig/ record. A great skill to have.

    Great video have you tried the AMT R2? I've had both the R2 and the Mooer Cali Dual and for my set up at least I really perfered the R2. Although I have a pretty limited amount of experience with actual Rectifier.

    The real thing & the vst sounded good. Fractal was a bit..lo-fi-trebly? Not-so-good anyways. The multi effects unit was awful. I first guessed it to be some line6 modeler :D The mooer was surprisingly bad. there was something weirdness going on there, which I always affiliate with (bad) digital modelers.

    You have to tell people no matter what you do. The moment you stand in front of a real guitar amp and hear the sound directly from the cab. That, imitating simulator will not give you. I also work at home with, simulating guitar amplifiers. But every time I hear a real guitar tube from face to face I remember how the real thing sounded.

    It was really hard for me to keep up with what was what when you were talking. I would kindly suggest putting the name of the unit you’re talking about up on the screen written out the same way as in the comparison. I lost track of which one was the Korg because you stopped staying Korg before the numbers. Dig your channel. That’s my only critique besides please edit your videos more so you sound more concise. “Farther faster!” Please. Too much rambling. Again, I really dig you as a person and you’re easy to watch and also super talented. Just wanna see you with millions of subscribers!
