I was a hater, but listening to it now a few times I've really grown to love it.
This really is one of their best albums. It's got everything a Megadeth fan needs
This album is the definition of underrated. This album is not just musically awesome, but shows that Dave is based AF.
It's on par with they're classics from the 80s and 90s I think. Megadeth improved during this period and people forget how good they were in the 2000s
I slept on a lot of there albums and I realized that I missed out on some good music

I think it's funny how the actual United Nations caught wind of this album because of its title and political subject matter. They basically said it was stupid and that Dave Mustaine was a moron.

He plays like metronom. Accurate, reliable computer. Without passion and balls. Probably also the "modern" digital production of drum sound has affected his work.

However on this album he sounds great .
Incredible riffs. And solos. Technical yet melodical.
Dave always manages to find a lead guitarist who makes it ultra tasty

My favorite modern day Megadeth album, and probably 3rd favorite overall. Everything about it is so good...warm production, layering, Daves voice the best its ever sounded.
And what are first two!? I am stucked in "killing..." and "peace selles... " I think the drumming of Gar Samuelson was incredible. Love Symphony of destruction too, but I never listen to after2000 production; I'm trying...
@@catholicneurologits Top two are the obvious Rust in Peace and Peace Sells, but tbh I return to UA more than both of those for some reason. I agree Gar was an excellent drummer, and CTE is another great album. Most people consider Endgame to be the best post-2000 Megadeth album so try that one or The System Has Failed. I enjoy both eras equally
@@Dennywise25 I just got my Endgame CD a couple of days ago. It comes with an awesome live performance of "Washing is Next" as a bonus track. As tight as it gets. Funny, I like Rust in Peace, but it's far from being an album that I LOVE. Except for Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls, and the last track, Polaris. The rest of the album, although enjoyable, sounds a little bit too "jazzy" for me. More technical and improvised than memorable, for the most part. I remember listening to the CD, from head to toe, years ago, when I borrowed it from a friend. After the beast of a song that is Holy Wars, I was kind of disappointed with what came after. When it comes to composition, at least. Solid album for sure, but I never really understood the worship that it gets, as a full piece, at least.
@@catholicneurologits "Killing" is AWESOME. Frantic and creative riffs all over it. The bass also sounds great, and the drums are... killing ahah. "Rattlehead" is just epic. And the first track's main/first riff is purely apocalyptic.
@@HeathenDance I was in the same boat as you until I heard the original version of the album (not the 2004 remaster). I've grown to love the deeper cuts such as Lucretia, Take No Prisoners, Five Magics, and the title track even more than the heavy hitters (maybe I overplayed them lol). As a result it is my favorite album of all time from my favorite band of all time so it def deserves the acclaim.

As much as i love Rust In Peace and Countdown to Extinction, this album is badass from beginning to end, every track is awesome, Happy 15 years of United Abominations from Megadeth (May 15th, 2007-May 15th, 2022)

Is great album from track one to five....then we have a weak songs problem except burn ice and play for blood.

Had this album on repeat for a long time when it came out. So many people talked shit about Glen Drover at the time, but I love his solos and leads.
Glen droven is an extremely underrated guitarist...he had an amazing style...
wish he stayed more . I love his work on United Abominations
There's Mozart, there's Beethoven and there's Dave Mustaine. Outstanding album.

First time hereing this album. Even though bin listing to Megadeth Metallica and there about for ever just never this one. F#ckin awesome sounding! Love it!❤
The Drover Brothers brought a great feel to this record, and Lomenzo is awesome as always, too bad Glen didn’t stay longer in this mix, his playing was tasteful and not too Marty, he had his own voice, and is the only guy to do “ Poland” justice. He would have been killer on Endgame.
And yet he’s probably least mentioned megadeth guitarists
Even Megadeth's worst albums (Risk and Super Collider) still can muster a headbang from me. Even the most forgettable of their songs I still enjoy.

I actually decided to revisit this album tonight. It is sooo good and actually I like to give it some room to breathe a bit. Listening to it tonight it just sounds so brutal, forceful. They really nailed it with this one.

This is the album that got me into metal music . I've always loved this Megadeth era . The span from "The System has Failed" till "Thirteen" is criminally underrated .

Dave has tried to warn everyone.
Don't know if it still will, but we were all supposed to be killed or in camps. Go watch a trailer for A GREY STATE. They killed the guy who made it and his family for making that.

This album is pretty good still like 9/10, I only find 2 songs weak(Gears of War and Amerikhastan) all the other songs are bangers

great album. i dont mind the politics bc it isnt super "feelings" based or virtue signaling. It's just Dave being observant. Great riffs though. This and Dystopia and Endgame have the perfect atmosphere and are all hella riff city. Love it. Megadeth, without a couple of the 90s albums, really are a powerhouse band. So strange that even with subpar vocals and very little "singing" they are so good. Instrumentals of their songs totally kick ass
This remains one of my personal favorite albums, as well as hanging one of my favorite album covers. The look at Vic post Skull Beneath the Skin is a cool concept and is represented well here.
Sick! I never noticed the guy being carried by the angel was Vic Rattlehead.
Wouldn't the picture be of what Vic looked like before he was stripped of flesh down to a bare skull? The front album art he has a face and he has hair. On the back the hair is gone but the skin is scarred but still present.
You mean pre Skull Beneath the Skin? Post means after. If it was post Skull Beneath the Skin, he wouldn't have any skin on his head, because it literally says in that song that the skin on his skull is pulled back and removed
