My high school choir sang this in 2010 and I never forgot it. Music like this has lead me to everything beautiful life has to offer. My prayer is that it can continue to heal and comfort those who listen ❤️🙏🏽
we sang this song in high school choir during a time where i was heavily struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. it hit me hard every time we sang it - i couldn’t get through a rendition of it without crying, even during practice. it moved me so deeply that i still go back and listen to it in times where i am struggling again, though it’s been 4 years since i graduated. the lyrics “but music and singing have been my refuge; and music and singing have been my light” will forever stay important and true to me. i am eternally glad that i got the chance to sing it, and i hope some other soul who is struggling with existence unexpectedly finds the same solace in it that i did. ❤️
Our school of 350 kids are singing this in choir and this is our first choir ever and we are singing this for our state comp. it is a verry hard and incredible song!!! We only have 4 basses and there are 48 kids in our choir i am one of the 4:(
The higher level kids sang this for the Detroit Lakes All City Music Festival tonight and it was so beautiful I was blown away just the way they controlled their voices in complete unison was amazing plus their parts were great to I'm in choir but I'm not at the level they are at yet but I hope to get there
this piece is so amazing..unexpected things happen in life and we may not understand why but music has always stopped me from doing wrong things just like the piece says music is my refuge
Im pretty sure my director used this exact recording as one way to sing the song in order to get ready for solo contest yesterday. :) Its a great song. One of the jokes he said was "This is more Eric Whitacre than Eric Whitacre!" :D
I can never seem to hear the note that brings that last cord alive, the G# tenors sing...is it just me? Any whom this is by far one of the strongest songs and messages out there!:)
i can only imagine. this song has the effect where it makes you think about things you’d rather not think about - and sometimes that’s a good thing, but sometimes it’s a bad thing. i hope that you are doing a lot better now.
Sounds really nice, but I think the soprano's need to tone it down a bit in some of the sections. They seem to dominate a lot of the song, where in certain sections, you really should be hearing the bass/alto's and tenor/soprano's equally.

there is no beat, no pulse... just pure...music
This piece rivals "O Magnum Mysterium" in beauty.
i had the honor of singing this song for regionals. It's beautiful, simply beautiful.

This song reminds me of 7th grade, when I heard another choir sing it. It was one of my best school years.

Most beautiful song ever!!!
Yes there are words to describe this: Beautiful
i love the altos part at the end with i'll live..its sooo sweet!!!!
We played this in 7th grade bandfest, and I still occasionally listen to it, and it always has the same effect as the first time I heard it.
So beautiful - WOW… What a powerful message!!
Soooo amazing! My choir has the opportunity to sing this, I hope we do it justice! Ahhh gotta love the open fifths :)
there will never be another set of lyrics that compare to those in this song
Right in the soul...
I can never seem to hear the note that brings that last cord alive, the G# tenors sing...is it just me? Any whom this is by far one of the strongest songs and messages out there!:)
my school's choir sang this at my graduation this year!
Really forces a person to process rape trauma...
Singing this year's ago in choir just after an incident was horrifying

Wow, so many people who watch this vid have met and worked with Ticheli. I'm just friends with him on facebook!
USC Thornton Chamber Choir from the album 'Full Reverb' You can get this recording from Frank's website.
Thanks for pointing out the typo. And congrats of working with Ticheli himself.
I wouldn't know personally, however, Frank is signed to Manhattan Beach Music if you can contact them, you might get somewhere.
good luck.
Ugh.. This song was so hard to practice in Choir! My teacher played this exact video.... -_-...
Yes, I know its a light of strong, I've had to sing it before, it just sounds like a tight of song
@Delaquoowa if by G# you mean Concert F# (because tenor is a whole step above concert pitch) then yes I hear it to
My school has a chior above the regular called Newburians and we're singing this does anyone know the alto part?
Who's performing this?

Why are you singing "A Tight of song, shining strong."????
IM sing this in the MAssachusetts western district chorus and the vid is good but singing it with 200+ voices is an experiance in of its own
Hey does anyone know how I would secure the rights to this song through Mr. Ticheli to use in a student short film? If so, please tell!
omG is this real or I'm dreaming ?
this song makes me emo
