While I have only just begun to explore the world of flute music, I keep finding myself going back to the shakuhachi. Keeping mind that I am a total amature to the flute world, The Indian Bansuri sounds wonderful and smooth. But the shakuhachi in the hands of a master feels like an expression of the soul. Thank you for your wonderful video. I have only just found you and I certainly look forward to far more. :)

The shakuhachi does have a reputation for being a difficult instrument but with patience and perseverance, progress is made. If you like the sound, give it a go!
I think it's incorrect to say that Hon Shirabe is the first piece a shukuhachi student learns. The first piece I learned was Kyorei. The first piece my teacher learned was Tamuke. Amazing performance though!
The concentration and austerity mixed with serenity are all there. So Beautiful.
Thank you from Greenland!
Amazing..love her music
I love the tone colour and the performance. Thank you!

Amazing performance though!
Actually she said it was the first piece SHE taught her students. She did not say it is the first piece every teacher teaches their students.
