When Steve Largent retired he was the all-time leader in receptions, yards and touchdown receptions as an NFL receiver. It was Largent's records that Rice eventually surpassed. Most people don't remember that.
@Gravivector And Charlie Joiner. Hutson's records are more remarkable considering when he played and how long those records stood.
Most don't even remember Randy Moss how bout that.
@@karatefightfitnessdrills5430 people remember Randy moss
YEP!! playing for my hometown Hawks!!!!!
@@karatefightfitnessdrills5430 who doesn't? You a fool for that lol
Largent retired as the all time leader in yards, TD's and catches (at the time) on an expansion Seahawks team with relative no name QB's....and he did it with no gloves
And Jerry and Michael can attest to this Largent played in a age where u could get murdered by the defense. Oh and the astro truf was trash
And then Tim Brown had better numbers, with no gloves.
@@jonmolina948 He played in a league where it was changing to pass happy. Don't get me wrong, Tim was a dog. But Steve can honestly have an argument made as being the GOAT
Matt Thomas S. Largent didn't have gloves because he didn't need them due to the stick-em he had all over his body. Kind of like F. Biletnikoff did every game.
@@bigred9991 Uhhhh....he didn't use it. But alright
Needed Randy Moss and Calvin Johnson
Coolplusflyy ! Would put chris Carter over johnson but I agree mostly
Carter career got off to a slow start in Philadelphia but I love him cause he’s buckeye
Andre Johnson too. Terrell owens as well
Mike Watkins Jr Hold on... now I’ve read absolutely everything. This man said Cris Carter over MEGATRON?! Take a nap.
Yeah Megatron should have definitely been here. He's better than everybody at this table except Jerry 😂
Imagine drafting Steve Largent just to tell him they had all the receivers they needed the Oilers were so cursed
Yeah, one of the biggest mistakes ever in the NFL.
The Steelers got rid of Johnny Unitas. The Atlanta Falcons drafted Brett Favre and gave up on him after one season and traded him to the Packers. It happens.
@@farakhhanif Well, even Favre said that being traded was the best thing that could have happened to him. He was lazy, partied, and never studied in Atlanta. They had no choice, but to get rid of him. That trade snapped him to attention. He's why players who are busts keep getting picked up, people think they might pick up a Favre. lol
withchza Yeah, but many fans nowadays might not know that, so they will say that the Falcons were morons for trading him, but the trade was exactly what helped him turn it around. I remember hearing the same about Cris Carter in Philadelphia. As I remember, he got cut for failing a drug test and that was the wake up call he needed to turn his life around in Minnesota.
farakhhanif yea but then you got teams like the bucs who let Steve young out of their hands
Let's be real. They could of had a dozen players on this round table. The nfl has always had amazing receivers.
James Kub LoL the table’s not big enough for all the great WR’s.
Lmao just off the top if my head Calvin Johnson, Fitz, TO, Moss, Tory Holt, Lynn Swan, Issac Bruce, Chris Carter, and I'm probably missing a few. One of the most stacked positions for long tables

Steve Largent is an absolute LEGEND of the position.
Loser of the position where the super bowls not 1 give me a break losers largent was trying to catch up from being behind on the scoreboard Art monk passed him and got 3 super bowl ring 1 with Doug Williams !
Football Realist so do you call Edelman good then😂😂, Barry sanders never had a super bowl but he is one of the best running backs ever. Just because you don’t have a ring, doesn’t mean you are bad, look at moss
It’s nice they had Steve largent
So true! As a kid, he was one of my favs
@@circa2008 get off that bs dawg he a 🐐
Dogballs44 You do know that when Steve Largent retired he was the all time leader in every major receiving category right?
Great question from Steve Smith about whether Largent experienced racism as a white receiver.
Dogballs44 he’s one of the few first ballot hall of farmers who played wr. I think it’s randy moss, Jerry rice, and Steve largent
To put in perspective how crazy Jerry Rice's numbers are: When Steve Largent retired, he was the all-time leader in Receptions and Yards. Jerry finished with almost double the amount of receptions and TD's as Largent, and just less then 10,000 more yards. Just incredible...13 x Pro Bowler, and still had over 1,000 yards Receiving at age 40. More pass happy era for sure, but still just amazing.
True, but the game has changed. Rice played in an era where they passed a little more than Largent. Today and the last 15 years or so the rules favor QB's and WR's even more than when Rice played.
Yeah but Largent didn't have the QB that rice did
@@raymagsoudlou7609 And if you put Largent on those SF teams he'd still be have most of the NFL WR records. Rice player on some of the best NFL teams of all time in SF. Rice also dropped more balls in 1 game than Largent did his whole career. Rice was great. But if you don't think being on great teams didn't help him you are dreaming. Also the game started changing then. Now almost every team throws the ball 40+ times a game. Passing numbers don't matter now. If your up 40 points keep chucking that football. Up 40+ point starting QB is still in the game chucking the football. It's actually boring to watch. The rules changes make sure defenses can't play. Rice was great. But Largent did more just because of what he played with.
@@raymagsoudlou7609 their careers literally overlapped he was nowhere as good as Jerry
@@larrylindgren9484 you put largent on those teams they don’t win
Larry Fitzgerald? Edit: Steve Largent mentioned him so I feel better now.
He shouldve been in that table tho
you know largent was gonna pick the classy guy
R BZ also the guy with the most longevity. WR is a position few play at an elite level later in their career. Fitz is phenomenal probably top 5 all time and at least top 10
@@Akaya7777 I don't care what anybody says. Larry is DEFINITELY top 5
@@Akaya7777 I def think longevity was a factor(which ruins megatron's name in these discussions), but we know T.O. might be out there setting an age record right now if he was a class act.
I just figured he would chose a guy that played without the bravado the way he did.
I’ve never seen Steve Smith so humbled before 👍.
Well he's at the table with 3 hall of famers. :)
We he grew up a 49ers fan and he looked up to Jerry Rice
He's being fake
Steve Smith is being humble and showing respect. There's nothing wrong with that.
Having Steve Largent on was an absolute delight...
When Steve Largent retired he held every major receiving record. He was the all-time GOAT receiver until Jerry Rice did his thing. Steve Largent didn't make the NFL Top 100 players of All-Time list, or the snub list, or the snub list snub-list or the honorable mentions list. Just a reminder that several somebodies made a massive mistake and have never owned up to it.

Steve Largent made first team all decade of the 1980’s right beside Jerry Rice. Largent got all those numbers with Jim Zorn and Steve Krieg at quarterback..super consistent and one off the best receivers of all time.

Sterling Sharpe, he had to catch those young Favre rockets. He gave Favre confidence. HOF, he was the second best during Rice's career.

Steve Largent is my favorite receiver of all time. I grew up with him in Seattle and he was the definition of a role model. Humble, professional, never loud or selfish. I remember those Brown's teams of the 80's, they were tough I believe they were referring to were Frank Minnifield, and Hanford Dixon.
Talk about how time's have changed, from the Brown's being what they were and are now vs the New England Patriots who in those days were the Brown's of today.
Not to mention Bill Belichick actually coached the Brown's, before ending up in New England.
Steve Largent deserves more credit hands-down than all of these receivers, he played in a different area. The 5 yard bump rule was not introduced into the NFL, as well as what linebackers could get away with as far as the violence and physically n the game was much different and Steve Largent did not wear gloves the technology was not as advanced as it is today factoring all this in there can be a case made for STEVE LARGENT was a beast.
