Currently looking at my second hand A-5 that I got from a buddy. Doing a cleaning and rebuild with some replacement parts also. Thanks for this video. All business, no commentary, no bs. I like it.
Absolutely awesome rebuild. You should definetly do an automag, old autococker or old 90s paintball gun next!! There is definetly a market for vintage markers right now and Ive picked up a few over the years dirt cheap. Nice job!!!
For those interested - this is a pretty early model a5. It only has one shared air port for both the cyclone feed and response trigger. Any response trigger kit for such an a5 needs a "T" fitting to split the air both to the hopper and the trigger. My favorite part, if you're using HPA, of an A5 is sticking the tank directly on the tombstone. It becomes a fun, portable, comfortable little marker if you're playing woodsball fields with shipping containers, houses, etc.
That has a response trigger built in that helped…😊The flatline barrel was incredibly accurate and shot so far was the best gun for woods ball imo also hope you add a double trigger!
Nice! I should do this to mine. Strip the peeling paint and and give it a new paint job. But the peeling paint does give it some character. It's old... from 2002. I'll definitely be replacing all the o-rings in mine.
Let me start by saying I do like the video, but Tippmann guns are so reliable that I bet you could just changed a few o rings and it would have worked great. But don't let that pull away from how satisfying this rebuild is. I'm currently rebuilding an a5 that has been sitting corroded and dirty and in pieces since 2017
You know that part in ratatouille where Ego gets yeeted back to where he was happy? That was me in this entire video. Transported 15 years once that first pin popped out.
After hurricane ida, one of these drifted not too far away from my local field. My buddy found it thinking it was toast and the thing fired with a small leak
You can get a full rebuild kit for the a5 that includes all the o ring including the ones for the power tube which rebuildable in the a5 and has all the screws, parts for the cyclone feed and springs its not hard to do and you can find videos to help
Not sure how many coats exactly. Probably 2 of primer, 3 of paint and 2 of clear coat. Paint has held up well. It will chip though if banged against something.
Beautiful restoration, i love the blue color! I just got a headache when you didn't lube the actual o rings of the front and rear bolt and instead overlubed the rear and lubed the asa (lubing the asa is a controversial method)
Was that just a soap and water soak you dropped it in? Edit: wanted to add that this is a great video and really helpful! I picked up an A5 on ebay and it's not in nearly as bad condition, but it does need some TLC
@@RuralPlayground one other question if you don't mind: When you painted it, did you do anything to cover up the openings? I'm concerned about getting paint inside but may be being overly cautious.
@@chrishammitt4430 Nope, just clamp them together and maybe put some rolled up paper or tape inside the larger openings where the barrel or rear cap go. Brand new ones come from the factory with a bit of overspray on the inside so it's not something you really have to worry about. Also if you have old paint that is tough to get off I recommend using something like citristrip or aircraft remover to remove it all. Just be sure to follow the warnings and don't do it indoors.
they still sell them to this day and are aluminum i think so dont rust like iron..?? yours having the metal rear sight is probably pre 2010 but still wont have an iron oxide rust on it lol. whats the story behind the abuse/ neglect itts been thru?
Yes, all aluminum. Guns like this and the 98 custom are known for their reliability, however given enough time exposed to humidity such what you night find in someone's garage, the older ones that were painted black instead of anodized tend to bubble and flake over time. That is what I believe happened in this case.
are you from missouri? cuz i swear this is my old a5, a friend took it to clean it up and paint it but "lost" some parts and just gave me his much much cleaner a5, this looks almost identical to my previous one, it shot great just wasnt upkept on the previous owner, looks amazing
Super great work, though I hope there wasn’t any egrip components in that grip! 😬 That chip will be screwed after that water cleaning- Looking back, I see the RT, so nvm~ XD
The only paintball gun restoration video on youtube! Good job bro 👏👏

I have one with an inline barrel back from 2005 I’m looking to rebuild. Thanks for the bud gives me an idea what needs to be done
This was so well done. I'd watch more of these rebuilds!

Haha, I agree on the reliability. Definitely could have done a 5 minute fix to get it up and running if I wasn't interested in making a video.

Wow. Way to go. Gives me an idea just what exactly would be involved if I were to get a used one in rough shape.
Sick! I got a free A5 flatline from a friend who quit playing. Gonna replace the orings
This is fantastic. Do you have a list of the steps and materials you used? I want to do this with my 98.
Wow I love the color of it, amazing job there 🤘🏾😁
The Tippmann a5 is the best ❤
this deserved a like and a subscribe

Very impressive!

What’s the song at the end
Do you remember how many coats of each you did? How is the paint holding up?
Not sure how many coats exactly. Probably 2 of primer, 3 of paint and 2 of clear coat. Paint has held up well. It will chip though if banged against something.
Man thats an amazing paint job. Really good color too
I like it alot!
Where are you located ? I buy this A5.
G--day mate, top tutorial, cheers.
Well done. A5 R/T great marker.
👍

Well I may have been doing it wrong then over the last 17 years 😂 luckily the Tipomanns are extremely forgiving when it comes to maintenence.
great work

@@RuralPlayground Awesome! thanks for the reply

Where did you get the new Tippmann A-5 name plate?
Tippmannparts.com but I think they're discontinued now.
@@RuralPlayground thanks found one on Amazon… of course they had them haha
What did you use to take the paint off and clean it
Rustoleum aircraft remover

Where did you get the Tippman A-5 logo plate you glued on at the end? I did not see that in the affiliate link. Thanks!
I actually had one that I took off a donor gun. You can find them on Amazon or here for example: www.pbsports.com/products/tippmann-a-5-name-plate
nice man! i would not be able to remember how to put it back together most likely.
Response trigger and a cyclone? Guy spent some money.
If you ever gonna sell it I’d be happy to buy it 😀
U didnt oil\lube the gun’s o rings
The proper way to oil them is by pouring a couple drops in the ASA before gassing up. I did this towards the end of the video.
He did at the end of the video
Muito show
Top de mais!

its a response trigger
Lube?
Tippmann lube
You skipped your mistakes instead of explaining what you did wrong. You can see the parts where you cut it out. Other than that pretty good video.
Which parts?
@@RuralPlayground Barrel Adapter you tried to push it in after you put the receiver together. But that has to be done before that point.
Good catch
could of just thrown it in the dish washer and saved you some time.
A nice paint job, but it's not a rebuild.
Thanks for the feedback!
( PSSSST....Hey kid.... Just retitle your video as... say " Watch me do stuff with no explanation " or " Can you guess what I,m trying to do ? " )
What did you use for the clear exactly?
2k clear
