- THE DUBLINERS 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION FROM DUBLIN’S CHRIST CHURCH CATHERDRAL
After 50 years of music making The Dubliners take to the stage for their final hometown performance with founding member Barney McKenna.
It always amazes me how so many songs I love were written by Ewan MacColl.
I love Declans voice. Cant get enough of it.
I'm sure, I will always love Ireland and the Dubliners...from 🇩🇪
This is absolutely beautiful. Jesus what a song and what a voice
From a kid listening to the dubliners love this song he sings it well
He does and Luke is a hard act to follow.
Fantastic rendition of this song. Haven't heard it before.🇦🇺❤️🇮🇪
This is real music
Absolutely beautiful version Declan👍👏👏👏
Reminds me of a song played a lot on ABC radio in Australia in the 1980’s.
Lovely reminder.
I love that Declan sings it in his own voice but very faithful to how Luke did.
I saw the Dubliners with Luke once. It was near the end and he looked fragile but he was still brilliant.
Thank you - the Dubliners play with the next generation! Bravo! Greetings from Germany 🍀!
Herrlisch! Zehr schoon musik! Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪
Nice one.
A lovely voice and lovely music.
Schön, bewegend, eine Freude. So selten geworden. Was für eine Gruppe. Thx.
Beautiful music . I have only discovered you lately Declan. Thank you for sharing. Love from another Irish living overseas. Best wishes P xx
Don't know why but this song makes me feel terrified every time i listen. Makes me to invent time machine and go back to elementary school and study my ass off.
Good man Declan!
A good rendition..
Barney playing the banjo like its no effort at all ❤️❤️❤️legend
Great song from Ewan McColl..
Lovely version.👏
Beautiful song!
Ewan macColl really doesn't get enough credit for his songs......
We wouldn't have had The Dubliners as we know them had Luke not met Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger when he lived in Birmingham. It's from them we got Hot Asphalt, Schooldays Over, Dirty Old Town, Lifeboat Mona, Alabama '58, Springhill Mining Disaster, and others I've likely forgotten about.
@@eightmegsandconstantlyswap8862 So many great songs, thanks for the list.
I have every Ewan MacColl song on CD. I LOVE HIM, especially his Ho Chi Minh song.
@@eightmegsandconstantlyswap8862. Shoals of Herring
Fair play to him. He isn't associated with traditional songs ' but is well able to sing them. Next up ' an album of folk songs from him.
Lovely😅😅
Very good, but nothing will replace that shouty kelly voice
Much prefer declan, that Glen hanserd would give ire to a snowman
Ain't he gorgeous?
😂😂😂🤔
Thoroughly
anyone know what he says at 2.33?
Cmon then John ??
@@jamesdevlin3754 it could be...
He said good man Patsy
Great version either way
"Schooldays over, come on then John, time to be gettin' your pit boots on.... 2.30 ...... On with your sark and moleskin trousers, it's time you were on your way
Time you were learning the pitman's job and earning a pitman's pay."
Some versions of the lyrics have sack (not sark) which I thought made more sense but "sark" is an old Scottish word for a short shirt or nightdress
Great version either way
He couldn't hold a candle to the dubliners.
Nobody ever could. And I doubt if that would ever be his intent.
Best is that Patsy is not singing!
lovely performance, but a bit too laid back, no spark.
Ewan Mc Coll was a brilliant song writer
nevertheless relaxing
Beautiful music and singing.
