An absolute masterful composer!!! MGS2 wouldn't be as amazing as it is without his music. The technical finesse and insane attention to detail with brilliant storytelling from the East mixed with some of the greatest musical composing talent and voice over work from the West. Pure AWESOMENESS.
Hideo Kojima created a big game, and Harry Gregson Williams puts music & emotions into this game... hence making it the greatest game ever made... My fav is MGS2 & MGS3...
Influenced me to get back into electro/acoustic music production, 10 years after I stopped. Great game too, remember waiting for release date and the game shop was packed. ❤
It’s so cool that he was able to use motifs in the music he composed, like the MGS1 alert theme reference in the tanker alert theme. That attention to detail goes a long way.
A truly Inspirational Genius of a Man. I get goosebumps when ever I hear the main theme. I don't have the words in my vocabulary to describe just how his work resonates with me. Superb!
I really miss this guy's music in Kojima games. he and Kojima were perfect as a duo (kind of like Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer) his music fit perfectly with Kojima's artistic direction. I wish he had also composed Phantom Pain and Death stranding, Ludwig Forrsel's music sounds very generic mainstream electronica, nothing powerful and memorable like what Harry did in the Metal Gear games
As a huge fan of Harry Gregson Williams, I really don’t think you’re giving Ludwig forssels work enough credit. I actually think his work with Phantom Pain is under appreciated. (Also I’m pretty sure Harry was technically still involved in some capacity in MGSV, just not as much as Ludwig)
@@Hack_The_Planet_ he only did some additional music for Ground Zero if I'm not mistaken, he was only credited there, for Phantom Pain it was all Ludwig. also I do appreciate the way Ludwig edits his music, it's all very professional movie like. but overall his music is pretty forgettable, he's got no distinct style of his own or epicness to his music. he just uses the same ambient or mainstream electronica

I don’t know his work enough and I think deathstranding and MGSV very different , so I don’t know if that’s a good measure. Harry appears in the credits of Phantom Pain specifically as a “producer” and Ludwig is credited as a “composer”, Harry mentioned in an interview about curating the soundtrack or something to that effect
The Sons of Liberty soundtrack ... is beyond a shadow of a doubt, is a masterpiece. Had Williams not been the composer they went with? The games impact would’ve been orders of magnitude far less. Perfect work lol.
He is the only person from the franchise that has never been invited to fan convictions etc lol (or maybe he was invited but he himself distanced himself? hard to say). and ironically he is the only person, I would like to hear tell about his experience and these games
I was watching the Equalizer (Denzel Washington) earlier, somehow OST of The Equalizer gave me a lot of MGS2 vibes, turned out Legendary Harry Gregson-Williams puts a piece from his soul to every music he composed. (I did not know that he composed the music for the Equalizer while watching it). What an absolute legend.
This guy is probably one of the biggest inspirations to me as a musician/composer.

DAW composing dates back to 2001 ago! It aged well!
& much further than that! A lot of early 90s jungle and drum and bass made on cubase

he did a great job as a whole but lets be clear that this theme was a balatant rip off of a suviet composer sviridov - winter road .
That theme was composed by TAPPY and was featured in a trailer for the original MGS. Gregson-Williams incorporated it into his MGS2 main theme.
