I recently read on the Nitrogang forum that HPI has addressed many of the issues and problems that buyers and bashers were having with the new models. Mainly the shifting and not enough shimming of the transmission. Along with various other things, since I don’t own a new one I can’t really recall all of what they claimed, but it’s apparent that they are listening! Way to go HPI! You guys have become my new favorite. Way to go on the Video! You always hit all the important points!

@@hybrid32494 Thats good to hear, guess it will take some time to clear stock here in Germany, because VERY few people buy nitro bashers around here these days. What about plastic and metal quality? I heard that the new ones are worse in that regard aswell.
The original 5.9 didn't come with the wheelie bar or the LED battery indicator. Those are optional parts that have been added later and weren't on the RTR from the factory.

I keep forgetting to buy this wheelie bar, think I'm going to buy it now. Already bought the GT6 body, wheels, tires and bumpers. Don't forget to install the included roll bar so you don't scratch up the cooling head
hey dude!, yes the rear wheelie bar is pretty important and I've noticed it tends to protect the truck and absorb lots of impacts too. And yes, the head protector will be installed for the next video, thanks!

The new body on the 1gen Savage looks even more brute and nicer than on the new one😂 honestly,the new one is beside the Bodycheck,bumper,engine ,17 hex ,tyres ,and the gear ratio identical to my savage XL gen 2 from the year 2014!! And you know what,I highly love that fact ,because it makes all the spares available and you should never stop a running system..The savage xl nitro is a fantastic chassis

It's great that the new one is mostly the same as the old, with the addition of various small re designs, this means tons of parts for all of our old models!! You truly cannot kill a nitro!! Personally I kinda got used to the new savage body, at first I also didn't like it.

Savage Xl k5.9 and eventually also the body as soon as their available here in Germany…Hope that the weather permits me soon to make finally a video of my Savage XL gen.2 K5.9 which I had totally rebuild till to the last screw..It’s kind of annoying that first the spot were I run them was blocked by construction working and after that the weather is crappie.. however, I prefer by far the concept of HPI with the partly relaunch in order to help out all guys that own previous Savage Modells than other brands who making a totally new chassis where nothing is compatible and in the end it’s even not better than the old one but it forces everybody to buy it due parts…So in this point I’m absolutely on the side of Hpi 😎👍

I'd say the Savage formula is true to it's original form (mostly) and yet still have many good modern parts that will not piss you off. BTW this truck in the video is not mine, I was just lucky to do this video with a fellow friend, only the old XL is mine.. Maybe one day!!!

I feel like they just did a blow n go re-release to gauge interest in the platform.but all that does is piss off the customers that were loyal enough to buy one.so I will continue to wait a little longer, it's only been what 5yrs, 7yrs? Hpi doesn’t have the money to re-engineer new platforms. I’m kinda glad we get to see hpi make a resurgence but I have to agree alot of their products are lacking. Arrma/traxxas are way ahead in durability and performance. The savage line does have great power but with the lack of center diff and other enhancements the thing just grenades itself. I’ve been there and I will watch from a distance, they are also unnecessarily hard to work on.

the older xxl has 12 mm carb no ? the new only 8.5 mm carb but is it more powerfull ? can you switch carbs and put the 12 mm carb on the new model motor for even more power on the new model ? ?
Not gonna lie I’m a bit disappointed in the new savage xl it looks quite sickening but it would be nice if they used bigger tires like the outgoing model. And seeing reviews on UA-cam and people are stripping diffs on first outing. Still happy Hpi has rereleased this beast but I hope they get things sorted out at some point
hey dude! I agree with you on the need for larger wheels, just like the old XL had. I will tell you the new XL body fits perfectly on the old model and it looks killer!! So far I've driven this savage pretty good, and nothing broke, but the trans needs to be adjusted, it's pretty bad..
And I love this I love this video bro some things are better some things are worse but overall I'd say it's a total improvement and since I have the old Savage with the logo on the pipe double shocks all that stuff I could get a different feeling I'd like to get the new one one day hey but that's cool the body shell fits the old one too I'd like to see a test on top speed and jumping I've done a backflip with my old one before and wheelies one of the best trucks wonder if it's just as good as the old one as far as the acrobatics
Ok Nitro Yoda and the Gang need some help. I have an all original LST & LST 2. The 2 runs great, but the carburetor on the LST will not open and close. I haven’t run it in a few years and it’s been kept in storage and never abused. The engine turns over and there doesn’t appear to be any rust on the carburetor. I sprayed WD-40 on and around it, but still no luck. Any ideas?
hey my dude! Sounds like you have a seized (clogged) carburetor. IT's fairly common and about 50% of the used Nitros I purchase have this problem. The top solution if you're able to remove the carb is to put it into a nitro fuel bath, jus fully submerse it. Eventually the oils and nitro fuel will get it moving freely. IF you're not able to remove it, use a hot air guy (or hair dryer) and put some 3-in-1 oil into the carb itself. The heat should get the oils to penetrate and it should move freely. The best thing is to eventually run some fuel through the motor and the needles. let e know if this helps you out, we need to get that nitro running!
BTW there’s a guy who’s got a channel that is super knowledgeable about the Savage X and fixing two speed issues. His channel is “RC Brooks” and I let him know about your channel and that you’d appreciate his expertise being such a expert yourself. Well thanks again for your help on the LST. I’ll get after it ASAP!

hey dude, the average Nitro motor when above the .28 size generally has the same or more HP than a 29CC baja. In reality nitro motors have way more RPM and lower torque than gas engines, so it's not a good comparison, you know. But in terms of HP< yes, this has more HP than a 29-30 CC motor..
hey dude! I know this model comes with optimized gearing (meaning a smaller spur and taller clutch bell than the previous model). Regarding the 3rd gear high speed upgrade I think this does not have it. That was an option on the old generation savage, I know exactly what you're talking about. This one is claimed to have the same top speed as the old one, so I would assume this means it does not have the option high speed 3rd gear.
@@shiftgear190 yes dude, the 3 reverse module is highly sought after these days, I used to own a savage with one. BTW I currently and working on a regular savage 4.6 with the 3-speed optional trans! Can't kill the Savage!

hey my fellow Savage Brother!! I gotta say, I think you're right. The t-maxx is great, but it's not a big block 3-speed Savage! This is in a league of it's own.
I mean, thats true in some ways, in terms of the battery not being included. But honestly otherwise this truck is pretty nice and the suspension is terrific. Most people just use a 5-cell receiver back so it's ok. Plus this model has a very nice updated radio and a very torquey Roto-start unit that has been updated. Thanks for watching my dude!

Don't need the hub adapter for the wheel wrench if you just use a 17mm socket and a socket wrench That's what I used on all my Rc's Just plain easier

This is a sickening video on in my rc opinion the best nitro rtr moster truck of all time...yes I said it ..the hpi savage is the best rtr nitro monster truck..the revo Is what it is so is the tmaxx they each stand alone..As does the savage..Again sickening!!!

I mean, thats true in some ways, in terms of the battery not being included. But honestly otherwise this truck is pretty nice and the suspension is terrific. Most people just use a 5-cell receiver back so it's ok. Plus this model has a very nice updated radio and a very torquey Roto-start unit that has been updated. Thanks for watching my dude!
