My grandfather who also served in WW2, who also served in Japan is buried in that same cemetery. We go there every year to pay our respects. He also has a display in the local museum. So very special to me and if I do have a son, he will be named after him. I bet your grandfather knew mine, Jared.
I love your stories about WWII Jared.🇺🇸❤🇺🇸❤🇺🇸One of my grandpas fought in WWII and was a D Day paratrooper. The other fought in Vietnam and guarded bombs. And my dad was in the Air Force for 24 years. There is so much to learn and appreciate about these men and women who did so much. ❤🇺🇸

I work at the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. and I am always so awestruck by the stories of the American soldiers during the war. Thank you for sharing your grandparents' stories

I went to the holocaust Museum in Israel it was really sad especially the room they have dedicated to all the children that died

Memorial Day is very special to me! Four of my Dad's brothers served in World War II and we lost the oldest brother flying back home when the war was declared over! His plane got shot down in the Atlantic Ocean. Wish they could have had the communications we experience today because that could have saved his life! On another note, I am a mom of 4 and 3 of the 4 are Marines! Two of them are now veterans and both are Sargeants. My youngest is still serving! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Please pray for those that are serving currently!

So great for you to keep the memory of Jimmy Fisher alive. He is truly a hero. My grandpa was a pilot and shot down but obviously survived. I unfortunately don't know the entire story but it's really humbling to think if he didn't my dad never would have been born therefore I wouldn't be here. Makes you want to live the best life (I'm trying). My mom and I are going to visit my dad today at the Sacramento National Cemetery. All the flags will be set up. I actually like going it's beautiful and serene. I can't imagine all the stories behind the people who are there especially those who I see passed during war.

I love you guys. Good job for staying so strong. My mom had lost twins 13 years ago and then a year later my parents adopted my brother and I when we were just born. I was born in Indiana and my brother was born in queens NY. I was brought home to NYC on Christmas Eve and my brother was brought home 2 days after Christmas. You are in my prayers and Ellie and Jared stay strong and let yourself recover.

Such a beautiful story about your Grandpa. I drove out to the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix today to visit my Grandpa and Grandma's grave. He fought in WW2 also. It was so beautiful and peaceful, even with thousands of people there. While sitting there in the far off distance I could hear someone playing Amazing Grace on a violin, there was a light breeze and the flags were blowing. Seeing other veterans and families gathered at their loved one's grave while listening to the song was just perfect.
I hope that everyone who celebrated yesterday had a great memorial day. The people that fought for your country are all amazing and an inspiration to us all. Sending love from the UK!

Both of my grandparents are veterans and i am so proud of them , those kind of people are such brave people , jimmy fisher sounds like a great man to do that act he did and was a guardian angel to help your grandpa out , thank you to everyone who served and continues to protect our country, happy memorial day guys!

My father was stationed in Tinian as a medic during World War II; my mother was in the Navy stationed at Camp Lejeune, SC
If you guys are up for the long drive, you NEED to go up to Fremont Indiana to Jellystone park. It's an amazing kids friendly camp ground. It's all yogi bear and friends theme. Water slides, parks, pools, water parks, toddlers friendly water parks, stores, bikes, train rides, etc... You should go on their website!
My grandpa served in WWII as well and he has shot wounds and scars as well! thankful for your grandparents that helped save our country! much love Jared and Ellie!
My grandpa fought in WW II as well, but on the other side... he finally ended as prisoner of war for years with the Americans. He had lessons in that time like in school, American history and such. Many years later he gave his handwritten notebooks of that time to me. So these notebooks are more than 70 years old now. It is all I have from him and it is a great treasure.

Also I just wanna say thank you for serving to your family that has served!! I played Taps for our memorial service and at all of the different cemeteries on Monday. I am so very grateful for all of those who have served, I have a brother that serves in the US Navy and I am just so grateful for all of those who have served!! Both my grandpas and my great grandpa fought in Vietnam and World War 2. God Bless this country, and God Bless your family Ellie and Jared!! I know Heavenly Father is so pleased with your family and your examples to those around you!! You are amazing parents!! 💜💜💜💜

My husband and 2 son were very active in boy scouts. Both my son's are Eagle scouts. I told my husband your scout story and he said they told the boys to go ask for weird things all the time. our youngest son is a solder in the Army. Thank you for telling your grandfather's stories. God bless.

Bless your grandpas and jimmy fisher 🙏🏼. My husband and I were in the Air Force. I know how blessed we are to still be here. Im home now with my children and he's a contractor. He's deployed 12 times and so we are blessed indeed. Thank you for taking a moment to recognize jimmy this Memorial Day.

My grandpa served in WWII. My father served in Navy 30 years. We have long history all the way to the revolutionary war. My great great grandfather was one of the first injuries in the Colorado Regulars in Civil War. He died from his injuries years later.

ellie and jared, you are the family who keeps me going. i am 13 years old and have been watching you for 2 years. when jared started talking about his grandfather who fought in WW2 it made me think of my grandfather. my grandfather fought in the vietnam war who is very sick now. it really made me think. i love you all ellie, jared, jackson, and calvin💞💞💞
My grandpa also served in World War 2. He actually was captured prisoner of war and was severely injured with a blast to the leg and almost had to get it amputated. He was captured for months and when they finally liberated the camps the war was over. As a result of his honors and time in the service he received the prisoner of war medal, the Purple Heart, and several other medals. Sadly he passed away a year ago in February. He did not like to talk about his time in the war at all. Rip grandpa. I miss you everyday. Thanks for talking about those fallen on this day Jared. Means a lot. ❤️

My great grandmother was married to a man who served and died in WWI. We thank him for his service and sacrifice because afterwards my great grandmother remarried to my great grandfather. Their first born son is my grandfather, who they named after her first husband. My grandfather also served in WWII. He just passed over a week ago, and from my grandfather alone 50 people are alive and walking this earth and well as many more because of my great grandmother's first husband's sacrifice.

I went to Yellow Stone National Park as a kid and it was one of the most vivid memories I remember. I'm in high school now, but I always think back about how much my family bonded and how much fun my friends and I had!

My grandfather was in the vietnam war but passed years ago, my husband is currently a Navy sailor, I have tons of military friends, and we have a fallen hero named Joshua Rodgers who died while taking out members of isis. So increadibly thankful and blessed to have the freedom we have today.

I remember the night my elderly father passed away peacefully with me and my brother at his side, and I arrived home feeling this emptiness and as I got out of my car I saw a shooting star and I believe in my heart my dad sent that for me. You reminded me of this great memory and for that I thank you

My Poppa (grandpa) was a POW, and actually fought in the battle of the bulge. He is truly my hero and I felt like my world crashed around me when he passed away in 2008. I loved hearing his stories about his life growing up. He never really talked about his army time because it was so hard on him. He did tell me once that he watched so many of his friends being tortured and killed while a POW by German soldiers, and that they didn't feed them. He actually kept his "dog tag" that he was issued from the German prisoner camp. I got a tattoo in his memory a few weeks ago. It came out amazing.

I absolutely appreciate the sacrifices your grandpa made, and I'm so very sorry he is no longer with us. However, its important to remember that Memorial Day is for remembering those who gave their life while in the line of duty for our freedoms. Veterans Day is for thanking those who have served and those who are still serving. Jimmy sounds like a wonderful hero and I'm glad you shared the story about how he saved your grandpa's life.

I'm not sure how far away y'all are but we used to live in Wyoming and loved camping with our camper in medicine bow national forest on state land around Vedawou. The kids would love climbing the giant rocks and beautiful trails to hike. Our yellow lab thought it was paradise with all the creeks, rivers and ponds to swim in!

My own late paternal grandfather was a mechanic for the US air force during WWII. He never went into battle, but he fixed the planes and stuff on them.
