There was a Silverhawks reboot in the works. Unfortunately one of the writers from the original show, Steve Perry, was murdered while working on the reboot. Steve had been part of a fan forum called New Hawk Haven. He was friends with one of the moderators. Steve was quite friendly and would chat with those of us in the fan forum. He was really excited about the project. The moderator that was friends with Steve broke the news to the rest of us about his death. It was so heart breaking because he had just gotten custody of his child. I miss Steve to this day. He was such an easy going guy to talk to and so creative. May he rest in Paradise.
So sad to hear..Silverhawks, Thundercats, Batman the animated series and Gargoyles, He-Man were the crown jewels of my childhood after the reunion of Germany.
I've never even heard of this man but this news just made me gasp. :( My memories of this series are distant, but so, so fond. Rest In Peace, Steve Perry. Thank you for that much more happiness in my childhood.

I actually really liked Silverhawks. I agree that it’s very underrated. The other underrated cartoon series that I liked was Jayce and The Wheeled Warriors.
They put so much effort into some of these shows in the 80s! From the animation, the character designs, to the amazing music and themes. Golden age of cartoons for sure.
I remember how the rank-and-file monster machines would sometimes snark at each other the way the battle droids from Clone Wars would. Jace and the “Lightning League” (as he named them) would actually seem to make progress in their goals to destroy the monster machines and rescue Jace’s father from wherever he was. Wasn’t terribly fond of the sails on their spaceship, though. Edit: ok, saw it was “monster MINDS” from another vid…

Silverhawks, Thundercats, He-Man, Bionic Six, Brave Starr, Ninja Turtles and the list goes on. Every Saturday morning starting at about 5am there was a stretch of great cartoons that lasted till about 1pm and after that my siblings and I played outside till a little past dark. Growing up in the 80’s was the best. 90’s we’re great as well.
Silverhawks is indeed very stylish and original. I think its weakness, and why it never fully caught on, was that its backstory and plot were kind of half baked. Thundercats started with a strong orientation story and grew from there. Silverhawks and its villains just kind of existed without much structure. It needed stronger world building. But I am a big fan still. Love the characters, the aesthetic, and the animation. Imaginative ideas that just needed something relatable to anchor to.
Actually they did, I don't remember exactly the episode, but when Mum-Ra is in his control room several screens appear showing different scenes, in one of them Moonstar appears
Thundercats 2011 was amazing! Future reboots should take notes from them as they told a new reiteration but still had that nostalgia factor fans love (unlike the abysmal Thundercats ROAR!) And, along with Mon*star on the control screen they also had Mako of the Tigersharks.
Pointless and not interested. The 2011s one sucked hard. It was effing awful. 70-80-90s animation remain unmatchable. Even the 60s had better stuff than today. Saddening
They all had to undergo the cyborg process to be able to travel all that way if I remember correctly but yes he got shafted. Would love to think if there were future seasons he would have gotten an upgrade.
Mon*star is my second favorite villain from the 80s period ( First being Cobra Commander ). I even got an action figure of him. It was really cool to see him made a cameo in the Thundercats 2011. And here's something interesting to know, in the cancelled second season of the 2011 series, there would've been a Silverhawks crossover, and also an origin story of Mon*star on how he got his transformation. Apparently he was trying to auction off a stone, where Mumm ra appear to him and snatch the stone, before Mumm ra stabbed Mon*star eye, giving him the signature transformation ability.
@@peterang78 The failure of the action figure line apparantly was responsible for the shows cancellation. And how the 2019 ThunderCats series bombed, I doubt we'll see any more for the time being. Unless a movie is announced out of nowhere.
I never saw Silver hawks but my mom bought me a blanket with those characters on it, way back as a kid in the 90s. Kept it for years. The show looks amazing.
This has been one of my all time favorite cartoons of all time. Still have all the toys, and awaiting the arrival of the amazing new Silverhawks Super 7 toys to ship.
IDK, to me Silverhawks was right up there with Thundercats as far as popularity. The other show that was kind of a tie-in was TigerSharks. That show definitely felt like they were milking the "manimal" concept and although was kinda cool it was the least popular and not a hit.
Loved this cartoon, had all the figures. But like Thundercats when I got the DVD as am adult it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered. But I would still love to see a movie or live action show.

This was and still is my favorite 80's cartoon. I've always thought that a live-action adaptation would be epic with Chris Pratt as Quicksilver and Alan Ritchson as Steelwill.

There is a reason why we keep getting all of these 80's cartoons made into movies today(GI Joe, Transformers, Ninja Turtles) etc. It's because the 80's were freaking AWESOME..
