Unfortunately, he’s right. I’m English so you could say that I’m bias but I lived in Wales for a bit so have a bit of a soft spot for them. Harry Wilson to me looks like their best player at the minute, but I’d still take Ward-Prowse over him and he can’t even make the England squad. The good thing for this Welsh squad is that there’s some up and coming talent I.e Johnson, Williams so they should have some improvement ahead of them

He’s 100% right (and I’m not even English). Wales are an average side at best and flatter to deceive. They massively overachieved in 2016 and have been dining out on it since. They were woeful at the World Cup and it would’ve been more of the same at the euros. No loss to the tournament at all.

England are a decent team during a period in football when the depth in talent on the continent is at its worst period in decades, i remember back in the early 2000s you could name atleast 4 absolute world class talents in each of the top teams, these days you can barely name one, sometimes not even that.

Greece had several main men. Not household names but even in Africa we knew about Angelos Charisteas, Nikolas Dabizas, KARAGOUNIS (MAIN), Giannakopoulos...because they all played for PL teams, Ajax, Inter Milan. Wales players are not placed in the top club teams at the moment..and thats going to cost.

No competent manager would ever take Davies over Chillwell either even if he was at 50% fitness (which is still a big if with Chilwell). I know Spurs fans and Davies is the one player they've been begging to get rid of the most for years now. Whoever is Englands u18 LB, I guarantee they are better than Davies.

They have zero top level experience, almost certainly won't be as defensively sound, and Davies is a proven player with over a decade of top level experience at premier league and international level, also a leader who has captained club and country.

Trippier has been getting exposed in his preferred position as a RB all season and yet you somehow think he would do better than an actual LB in that position. I see nobody glad that chilwell is playing. And everyone already knows Shaw is defensively suspect.
Take all this into consideration, and there's more to suggest he would actually *start* for England, let alone not be on the plane. An actually competent manager would understand what Davies brings to the team, hence why he was heavily relied upon by managers like Conte and Mourinho, who saw him as a leader and a solid hand. Which he is.

Other than Bale and Giggs, maybe Rush, no Welsh players have ever been good enough for England, they are mostly Championship/League 1, same as Scotland, ROI and NI. They usually have a lot of English guys playing for them too like former Wales captain Ashley Williams who is from Wolverhampton, or Scott Mctominay with Scotland.

I know im stating the obvious here, but what is the point of this statement?
Obviously, none of our current players would get in this England side. We have goalkeepers who aren't playing aby competitive minutes at club level, players who have had to move to top Championship clubs to get game time and a population of 3 million people. England has multiple £100m players.
Deeney is clearly just trying to get a rise here. It's like Swansea or Cardiff drawing Manchester City in the FA Cup and saying, "City wouldn't take a single player from them."
The fact that in 2016, we had 2 players who would have started for England, which is insane for Wales and an example of why we were able to get through to the semi-finals in France.
I've never heard someone say anything about Scotland or Northern Ireland players getting in the England squad. Scotland currently have Robertson, but before that, i doubt any of their players would have made the England squad.
We are proud of our team. The lads we have play their hearts out. We should have done better in this qualification campaign. A lot of that is on the management, the lack of minutes of certain players at various points in the campaign, poor performances, injuries, etc.
Feel likenthis is Deeney trying to have his "kick em when they're down" moment.
Conor Bradley would have a good chance of getting in the England team also. He's better than TAA but people haven't accepted that yet.
@TP-pq9xx I'd say he is talented enough probably, but Trent has been in the UEFA team of the years and has not made England squads in the past. Found himself behind Walker, Trippier, and Reece James.
